Describe your habitat!
What do you really like about where you live?
Whats one thing you hate and wish you could change?

I'll start

>Seattle

Pros:
-Beautiful city nestled between the ocean and several mountain ranges.
-Legal Marijuana.
-Extremely progressive.
-City is booming and the economy is growing. Lots of jobs.
-Perfect blend of city and rural life.
-Lots of fun roads to drive on outside the city.

Cons:
-Sooo many got damn hipsters.
-Homeless epidemic. They are fucking everywhere.
-I guess the rain and gloom can get to you. Lack of sunlight.
-Gentrification. Yuppies/Techies moving in, poor people being kicked out.

>middle-eastern finland

pros:
  • lots of trees, water and forests everywhere around you even in the city
  • hot and beautiful summers, sun is up almost 24/7
  • a funny dialect that almost everyone else likes to make fun of
  • good possibility of getting an education without moving to another city (even though i don't use it for my benefit)
  • cheap rental apartments provided by the city

cons:
  • sun is up almost 24/7 during summers also fucking mosquitos
  • long and dark winters
  • city of around 80-100k people, feels kind of inbred
  • alcoholism and the same town crazies that you've seen and known since you were 15
  • many depressing commieblock-like suburbs from the 70s

i can't come up with anything better also some of those apply to the whole country but i'm too sober for this shit sorry

Seems like less hobo camps this year. Maybe they all died off in the cold. But fucking a', I5 is just awash in them.

Nice fat paychecks at least, if you can find somewhere that doesn't suck the money straight out of your pocket.

Another Finn reporting in.
Can pretty much approve everything you just typed out.
Drugs are expensive, but increasingly easier to get.
Also the weed is top notch with good connections. Even in the Tor-boards.

Gotta add another pro for Finland

>Washington D.C.

>Pro:
-Really diverse. People come from all over the world to this city. Consequently...
-Amazing food
-Legal Weed!
-Tons of Museums and high-culture stuff (all free!) as well as a really interesting "weird" scene with house and basement shows and "art spaces"

>Con:
>Yuppy fucking scumbags and people who think life is like an episode of "House of Cards"
>Impossible to drive in
>Tourists
>Impossibly expensive. I drink at home almost exclusively because most bars sell a pint of beer for no less than $6 and anything not bud-tier is at least 7 or 8. Restaurants are expensive as shit and the cheaper hole in the wall joints are difficult to access unless you've got a car or are willing to walk (often not advisable at night). I pay $750 in rent and don't even have my own room. I don't think I could ever attempt to own a home here
>Shit-fucking-damn hot impossibly humid Summers

>Summary
Beautiful and fascinating place but despairingly costly and dystopian. 7/10, I think I prefer Philly

>fat idiots fly down from the midwest and canada every winter to pretend they are rich
>people can't drive worth a fuck

> Capital of Sweden

>Cons
  • People are generally toxic, known in the rest of sweden for being egocentric as fuck.
  • Big city, so when you meet someone new you almost always have to travel an hour or more to see them, if you don't meet halfway in the central city.
  • The government is buying up all available housing for immigrants, driving up prices, making it impossible to find a place to live if you aren't rich or rent from a personal contact.
  • Beggars from romania everywhere. Outside every store. I live half an hour out in the suburbs, and there's a beggar outside the closest store. Have a friend the opposite suburb of town, fourty minutes from the central city. Beggar outside the store. You will not find a store without a romanian beggar, since about two three years back.

>Pros
  • Beautiful architecture and city planning at places.
  • Nobody cares if you become the liqour.
  • Education is free.

>>Minneapolis

Cons
-snow (or cold and no snow which is worse)
-Jesse Ventura is associated with us
-still no rec weed and they will clamp down on medical
-Loring Park (see pic)
-people never shut the fuck up about Prince and mainstream radio still plays that fucking Disturbed cover of Sound of Silence, still.
-lite rail that takes 90 fucking minutes to cross town and hits pedestrians all the time because there is no room for it
-no liquor sales on Sunday till the new law goes into effect. Still gotta make that Hudson drive.
-cops are particularly dumb here and in St. Paul and do drug raids on wrong addresses and shit like that all the time
-large presence of antifa/black bloc jackasses
-asshole Chinese Richie rich students taking over the campus not knowing how to drive their bmws
-giant ugly housing projects full of fresh off the boat Unemployable Somalis in the middle of the city

Pros
-you can ride a bike anywhere almost as fast as you can drive. We have a dedicated below street level bike highway crossing town
-not pancake flat like the rest of Midwest
-rivers and caves and cool shit to explore
-pretty reasonable gun laws (unless you're Phil Castile)
-89.3 fm, about 4 or 5 years ago. They still play new shit so I gotta give em credit.
-easy as fuck to get a good paying skilled trade job close to where you live
-rent isn't great but saving money is possible
-lots of tinder sluts who are decent looking and will fuck you almost to prove a point
-Somalis kids are actually starting to integrate a little bit as they become more educated. Some are cool and more Americanized than you would think.
-big park by the river where you can let your dogs run around and you can swim and smoke a doobie
-ski to work when it snows a lot in my part of town

My take on it is that we lost to philosophical rethoric. It can be summed up pretty much in the liberals and anti-nationalists asking "Do you believe that every life has the same worth?", if you say yes, they won't listen to any further points you want to make, and if you answer no, they call you a racist/nazi etc. and the argument is over.

I.e. all attempts at discussing any actual practical solution to world problems instead of just "let them all live here with us" is bashed away with questioning your capacity of empathy.

NB, this belongs more in /pol/ really

Dude have you ever spent any time in Loring park? Honestly, I'm all for gay pride. I just don't think it's appropriate to associate being gay with bdsm leather shit. I have a problem with people taking over a public space and setting up a giant cock to ride like mechanical bull, then calling that progress.

Do you think they should be praised for it? I have personal reasons for disliking the Dan Savage /Loring Park fringe culture, what the fuck do you know? I don't think being gay should be equated to being a hedonist or an exhibitionist, and that is the image that a lot of people at these things seem to want to promote. And they are happy to speak for you, too. Somehow any criticism of gay bdsm and hookup culture in Minneapolis is always turned into denying violence or trying to silence people. Do you think that's what someone like me is trying to do?

i have no idea how that isn't awesome.

anyway, i also live in the Seattle area as with OP. move not too long ago.

cons:
>rainy
>traffic sucks
>BOOZE TAX. 20.5% or something, then for hard liquor (anything 24%+) there's an additional tax per liter of $2.44. canada and oregon are both pretty shitty too when it comes to booze prices so not much i can do.
>homeless camps everywhere - and this is coming from someone who used to live in SF
>once you leave the Seattle area to the east, you get right into dumb redneck cousin fucker territory.

pros:
>when it rains it's only light, and winters are actually real easy compared to inland areas/east coast, not much snow at all
>LEGAL WEED YISS
>pretty liberal about drugs in general
>good jobs galore
>cool nature stuff, very green and pretty

Cons:

I live in an area with plenty of tweaker druggies

Besides, once you git gud at music then you just create music that you enjoy in your head all day long and don't even need real music to listen to.

Once upon a time I got adequate at playing music but then depression brought on by chronic self-hatred consumed me and I haven't had the willpower to even pick up my guitar in a year or so... I even polished my frets and cleaned my fretboard last month... just to sit in its case doing nothing.

>Downtown is seeing a Renaissance and City's seeing economic and population growth for the first time after decades of decline
>Lots of diversity
>West Side Market
>Great park system
>Topography's pretty decent and has a solid mix of hilly and canyony areas east in Lake and Geauga counties without being obnoxiously vertical like some Mountainous regions can get. Although West Side does start to flatten out as you get into the plains.
>Traffic isn't nearly as bad as other cities I've been in

Cons:

>Walk-ability is decent downtown but you pretty much need a car
>Weather isn't that bad but the people complaining about it will drive you insane

Jesus. Let me clarify this shit for you guys... There is an enormous high-rise housing project in the middle of Minneapolis that we call the "Crack Stacks" or Little Mogadishu if you are an edgy asshole. It's considered by many to be one of the ugliest large architectural projects in America. It's really named Riverside Plaza and has always been filled mostly with first gen immigrants, but now its mostly Somalis and a few other African groups since the Hmong own homes now.

I've known some Somalis that are cool and some Somalis that are assholes and also some that just cannot transition into American culture. Something about Riverside seems to attract the latter two categories, who the fuck knows why. Go to Cedar Riverside sometime and see for yourself. All the other immigrants' kids in town speak perfect English, usually have jobs and will usually make conversation with you, but never the ones from Riverside or the other high rise ghettos.

>>faggots ruin everything

Here's an example of why I don't like Pride. I don't like anyone I know to be called a faggot. I don't want anyone to have to be closeted about their orientation at their blue collar job, and I know a few people in that situation. A lot of bible thumpers see that overtly sexual shit at gay pride events and it makes a BIG impression on them. Then they go out and vote for Trump. You want to swing at leather parties? You want to have a slave contract? I don't give a fuck, I know people that are into that kind of stuff. I just don't want to ride my bike through it on my way to work.

I'm not homophobic let me clarify. My deal with gay men is that they are way too aggressive Like how straight men are with women with a gay man I feel it's way worse.

I've been straight up eye fucked bygay men in public and it makes me feel uncomfortable. There was a gay man touching himself while staring at me in a cafe as I quietly read a book I never even noticed it until someone pointed it out. Gay men have no filter even when they realize the dude isn't gay. they touch and it's like motherfucker I've shown you I'm not interested so why are you still there being gay

Sometimes I think the world would be a cooler place if there were weirder slums like the walled city of Kowloon.

Places like that aren't places that happen on purpose though. They're festering accidents kept alives by sewage runoff saturated with antibiotics excreted into factory farm cattle urine. Nothing deliberate, but nothing normal.

No one would ever choose to live in a place like this, but when enough accidental cruft piles up loosely enough, you'll find something that looks kind of cool enough to regret its destruction. The people living within it, though, couldn't escape fast enough, if they were granted an improved alternative.

Which begs the question: Let's say you give a bunch of people trapped in nightmare slums a chance at something better. Won't they just fuck things up somewhere else?

How would you bring impoverished slumdogs into newfound affluence in such a way that they don't retrofit it to resemble the only familiarity they've always known?

I'm writing my thesis on this in the context of water management. It is about recognizing the frailty of their vernacular systems which are complex in their inter-dependencies (infrastructural, systemic, social, landscape-infrastructure feedback patterns), so that you may carefully inject better systems and catalyze the people to improve using their newfound frameworks rather than the status quo 'interrupt and re-educate' tactic.

Also this wasn't a trapped nightmare, I thought a lot of people liked living in that place, people are actually willingly moving to the tower of david, a vertical slum.

I think we have a lot to learn from slums, their aggregated de-centralised urban patterns are referenceable when our centralized cities get evermore congested, food deprived and unsustainable.

This guy's right, they had they weren't born to parents who could afford to give them a good education and make the friends who'd carry them through life because of arbitrary staking claims of land made thousands of years ago and the subsequent actions of the people between then and now. Because those are all their fault. Totally right.

>>4521925
I agree with most of your post until then.

>they support the working class
>citation needed

And I will start by pointing out that both parties budgets involve cuts to support for poor and tax cuts to the rich. Reduced spending on services only the working class can't buy themselves etc. Team hard Brexit ruling the UK originally wanted to hike national insurance for the self employed. Now maybe you don't know how tax works or how zero hour contract totally not self employed labour works here but essentially this is a raise felt most by the poorest people, who work full time and are already exploited.

Don't get me wrong, the others aren't that much better but they are less awful. I haven't seen any evidence of support for the working class. Oh yeah also changes to tax on solar panels so that private schools are not affected but state schools have to pay, reducing their available cash to spend on pupils. Sounds perfectly fair.

Trump revoked an executive order banning mines from dumping their tailings into rivers, many of which are used for drinking water.
His head of the EPA announced that CO2 does not cause global warming, his deputy is a coal lobbyist.
His head of the education is a billionaire doner who wants to defund public schools via voucher system also https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/education/influential-conservative-group-trump-devos-should-dismantle-education-department-and-bring-god-into-classrooms/2017/02/15/196bf872-f2df-11e6-8d72-263470bf0401_story.html
His head of energy is Rick Perry (a politician has replaced a nuclear scientist for the department that supplies the military with nuclear material and cleans up nuclear waste.)

As broken as Obamacare is, not addressing the reason we pay so much for healthcare, removing mental health, birth control, and substance addiction coverage requirements, adding a 30% tax for a year if you go 2 months without coverage, and decreasing the subsidies that made it affordable to the poor does not improve it.

If you believe Trump supports the working class, like most of the people who voted for him, you're catastrophically misinformed.

I live in Redmond WA, kind of. I don't get out much but:

Pros:
  • Legal weed
  • People don't talk to you if you go out
  • Beautiful nature always very close
  • Feels safe
  • Close to city if I want that, or the mountains if I want that
  • Indian population => lots of amazing and cheap Indian food everywhere

Cons:
  • Out of towners hate "Seattle Freeze", if you've lived here all your life it seems normal (I guess I don't have any friends though)
  • Weed tax is almost 50%, concentrate and edibles are expensive as fuck, you can't have weed open even in stores
  • Can be hot as fuck in the summer (subjective I guess)
  • Feels like I have to drive for awhile to get anything, walking is a joke (of course this depends on where you live specifically)
  • Traffic; rush "hour" starts early and goes for a few hours
  • Busy and getting busier
  • Rent is pricey
  • Mostly white people in "blue" state => everyone is racist but doesn't think they are

>>4521717
> Also, isn't weed practically legal in like half the US now?
Kinda. In lots of places it's legal but you can't get it from dispensaries. Washington has the oldest (alongside Colorado) rec weed industry, so (if you know how to shop) you can find cheap dank from nice stores.

I guess I'll do two. It's been interesting reading these.

Apple Valley, CA

Pros:

  • Easy to get drugs
  • Lots of weed, also it just got legalized
  • can buy booze from gas stations anytime
  • There are "nicer" areas to live in and even in these areas you can drive 20-30 minutes and be out of the city away from everyone
  • It's an open desert with mountains and shit so lots of rock climbing (close to joshua tree, also mountains nearby), I can ride dirtbikes from my house, hiking in the mountains to hotsprings, during the winter skiing/snowboarding is 45 minutes away
  • Its out of the LA basin so you don't have all the traffic and arent surrounded by a concrete jungle
  • If you want to go to LA its not too horrible of a drive, vegas is also 3 hours away, beach is 2 hours

Cons:

  • The dispensaries legally can only deliver, so you can't go to their physical location and check out the product which is stupid
  • Crime. Years ago it was better but its only gotten worse over time. The overflowing prison population from LA get moved up here meaning their shitty families move up here too. Lots of white trash methheads, druggies, niggers, etc etc. Just lots of retarded, uneducated shitty people and meth heads
  • Hot summers. It's a dry heat but still being in the desert during summer kinda blows but I'll still take it over being in the midwest for the winters
  • Harder to get a job because theres so many people (socal and whatnot) but if you fill out enough apps you will find one
  • If you want good nightlife you have to go down towards LA
  • looks shitty in places because its a desert and theres poor people with shitty homes etc

Grand Forks, ND

Pros:

  • Easy to get a job. Everyone is hiring.
  • Cheap living and school is cheaper here than places like CA, also its less impacted
  • If you are used to living somewhere like CA there is no crime here, literally have never been sketched out
  • Barely any niggers
  • People are relatively nice, and its a college town so theres sluts overflowing if you go downtown on the weekends
  • No traffic, takes like 30 minutes to get across town, everything you need is within 15 minutes of you
  • gas is cheap
  • Summers are really nice (but fuck the mosquitoes)

Cons:

  • The winters make this place unlivable. Absolute hell, literally if it gets above 0F during the winter you go outside and notice that its kind of "warm". The jet stream dips down here for no fucking reason and just #reks you, literally colder than fairbanks fairly commonly.
  • Literally entirely flat, the flattest fucking place you will ever see. Glaciers came down thousands of years ago and sheered it completely flat. There is nothing to fucking do because of that its horrible
  • Nothing to fucking do. There is no music scene to speak of, you have to drive 5 hours to minneapolis for that. Night life is horse shit because of the limited options. Because its so flat there is no hiking, dirtbiking, climbing, etc. During the winter you just want to sit on your fist inside because its so fucking cold and you can't even go skiiing or boarding because its so fucking flat. No cool museums or culture, just miles of flat frozen farmland and tundra.
  • People drive like fucking pussies here, way too slow and faggy. I'll take asshole drivers from CA any fucking day. Also the roads are dogshit because of the strain the severe weather puts on them, fucking potholes and uneven shit everywhere.
  • Bible bumping twats everywhere, lifted trucks with smokestacks roaling coal everywhere, fags wearing camo and cowboy boots and hats and throwing in fat double decker chews getting blacked out drunk every night talking with that annoying as fuck midwestern "oh hey there bud, fuck bud, don't you know" fucking bullshit

In conclusion, fuck this place, never live here unless you have to. I would take a sever pay cut and pay the negatives of living in CA or the west coast in a heartbeat, luckily I'll be gtfo'ing here soon.

ahaha dude i work on riverside and it's fine, you are imagining things. It's a fucking college campus for gods sake. go talk to an "unintegrated" somali and they might tell you stories about helicopters and drones blowing up buildings in their hometown.

and once again, why are you blaming the loudest gay people for everyone's problems? you probably don't drive around in a pickup truck with the confederate flag on top, perhaps your direct ancestors didn't personally commit hate crimes back in the day. Why would i just assume that? it would be unreasonable.

If you're gonna play identity politics on this issue like hillary clinton I'll follow you there, but once again, you will lose.

The problem with gentrification is in tandem with yuppies who aspire to be hipsters. Sure they move out of their mums house at 22 instead of like 17 or something and their corporate jobs don't allow them time to grow and maintain a beard, or play ukelele to a proficiency that is worthy of playing outside of an independent local coffee shop for attention, but its so nice to be among the culture, the silly graffiti telling these sheeple to wake up that they, the yuppies, move in. And as they move in they need a place to live, something better than a sharehouse where the hipster-orgies take place which they are jealous of so they build a building. And with each cookie cutter 2 bedroom 2 ensuite apartment building they build, they recieve a corperate food store because whos got time to go to the fucking fruit market every saturday morning when you have 50+ spreadsheets to do? The artistic culture, which attracted them in the first place is swallowed and spat out further to the fringes of the city. You could say that it is just a case of poor people, aka, hipsters always living on the fringe but the patterns of development appear to be more complex as I've mentioned rather than a simple circle getting bigger (we're visualizing in city plan view right now). I hope you understand now that gentrification is a bad thing.

>Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States
CONS:
-totally dominated by globalist agenda
-horrible fake education except for private schools
-80%+ of the (sub)urban population is brainlessly indoctrinated in liberalism
-culture has already been destroyed
-immigrants with low aptitude given jobs and perpetual welfare no matter how much they make at the jobs they were placed in

PROS:
-rich land
-good climate (forces the weaklings to identify themselves)

Common sense just has no presence here. There is no culture, no life. Everything is fake. Literally nothing good or innovative comes from here.
A true manifestation of the status quo.

Milwaukee
Pros: great place to be an alcoholic.
Weed everywhere.
Parks everywhere
Bike trails
Some decent local music, big acts stop here quite often too.
Chicago is just a short train ride away
The fucking beach

Cons: city has a huge alcohol problem
Yuppies taking over the cool degenerate places
Crime and crack everywhere
Oddball mix of dumbass college kids, wannabe gangsters, alcoholics, rednecks, pretentious liberals all in the habitable zone.
Most segregated city. Honestly this city is mostly a huge post apocalyptic wasteland so the parts that are worth going to everyone knows everyone and that gets annoying

Overall this place is livable. But we need to get our shit together and put down the crack pipe and cheap beer.

>Humboldt County, near Eureka, California

Pros:
-Beautiful nature and scenery
-The Pacific Ocean is a 20 minute walk away
-The mountains, snow, and snowboarding opportunities are only a 1 1/2-2 hour drive away east
-Fuckin coastal redwoods aka the coolest trees on planet Earth right next to the ocean
-Lots of unique wildlife including birds, grey foxes, deer, bats, raccoons, squirrels & chipmunks, banana slugs, and more
-Summers are warm and sunny. The dry season goes from May through September, where there is virtually no rain and perfect weather
-We also have Indian Summers, so the whole month of September is warm and sunny
-The best weed in California, also the cheapest. Psychedelic drugs are very easy to come by. Lots of friendly hippies around who will give you free LSD.

Cons:
-Tons of rain, especially during the winter months, where there can possibly be snow and hail. Sometimes the hail comes down in showers, which fucking SUCKS DICK
-I mean like a fuck ton of rain we got over 40 inches in just this last winter season. On average its about 56 inches per year
-Lots of homeless, usually either trippin, tweakin, or nodded out
-You don't really see the sun much between October thru March
-It can get pretty cold, but not terribly cold, like talkin -2 celcius at the worst

Pic related. It's Trinidad state beach during wintertime.

Christchurch, NZ.

Pros:
Rent is cheaper, relatively than most cities in the rest of the country (still fucking expensive though)
The university is pretty cool.
The city is rebuilding its night life in bits and pieces.
Close to the southern alps.
City is rebuilding so there is oppurtunities for all sorts of crazy shit if you have the drive
Nice and warm in summer/spring/autumn mild in winter

Cons:
The boomers are rebuilding an endless suburbia.
The boomers run the council and are making the centre city a modernist nightmare
Beach is fucking cold
The insurance money is running out and heaps of businesses are going bankrupt. we are heading for a recession.
The boomers don't seem to give a shit about the arts (unless its the shit they go to like the theatre)
Car based city so its hard to get anything without one. but also because of the massive amount of roads we don't have enough space for actual communal areas, so a culture never develops around the city. its just a place to make some money and then leave. It could be so much more but the boomers wanna act like this town is just one big fuck off suburb
nightlife still hasn't got there yet.

Pros:
Fucking fantastic food
Deep dish pizza (Lou Malnati's is heavenly)
Beautiful skyline
Jazz/Blues fest for da free
Next to a giant lake
Great sports teams and museums
Rich with history
Excellent public transportation
Very Diverse

Cons:
Some parts are ghetto as fuck
Everyone wants to mention the murder rate when you bring it up
The roads are mad shitty
Freezing winters and hot summers (some people like it)
Not a lot to do nature wise near this city
Can be expensive to live

Good pay for work
Cons:

Public transport and roads are packed

>Sydney (east of CBD)

Pros:
-Beautiful place. Never *too* extreme in temperature, at least compared to more inland towns, some of the nicest beaches in the country
-Great food, great coffee
-Some very cool places, progressive enclaves
-Biggest city in Australia, so if there is any big event, it'll usually be here

Cons:
-Second most expensive place to live in the world
-Property bubble that is only going to continue to grow
-Conservative, rigid political establishment in state government and city council, very little chance of any significant change in status quo any time soon
-Huge police investment in drug enforcement, not unusual to see a squad of 6-12 police officers patrolling train stations and concerts/festivals with sniffer dogs, roadside drug testing increasingly regular
-Nightlife is worse every year, huge number of bars and clubs have shut down due to lockout laws
-Alcohol and tobacco is super expensive
-Awful roads and traffic, poor public transport system
-City has a huge east-west divide

Pros:
Probably the city with the most beautiful architecture in the country
Beautiful landscape, great mountains
Everything is pretty close by
Always fresh air, sweet smell from the atlantic ocean
Great fish, delicious crab
Awesome aquarium
When the sun finally hits it's like the whole place wakes up with a warmer presence
Cons:
Huge police presence
Lots of assholes
Lots of seagulls
Storms
Almost constant rain
The city center is slowly degrading as shops are moving over to a shopping mall
It's cold, people are cold and unpersonal, grey and depressed.

Pros:

>Alot of cool concerts and other events (Soundset and the Zombie Pub Crawl are my favorite but they are getting less cool by the year)
>Outdoor activities if your into that kind of shit (snowboarding, fishing, snowmobiling, ect.)

>Every kind of sport team is in the Twin Cities - even less popular sports like lacrosse
>There's a lot of different cultural stuff if your into that
>Kind of cool to have 2 big downtown areas, St Paul is usually pretty empty downtown at night and more of a chill spot to go
while downtown Minneapolis gets pretty wild
>Mall of America is close, fun to get baked or drunk and go there even if your not buying anything
>Pretty easy to find a job - took me 3 days last time to find $14.00 an hour (Not a tone of money but better than minimum wage)

Pros:
[lime] nice arty, cultural vibe with plenty of festivals and events.
[lime] calls itself 'Manhatten on the Meuse' because of all the skyscrapers making a sweet skyline.
[lime] reasonably priced and decriminalised weed and other recreational substances
[lime] decent nightlife
[lime] A River and nice green parks
[lime] city has its own identity, history and takes some pride in itself and has an entrepreneurial spirit.
[lime] very multicultural and diverse

Cons:
Poverty, crime and violence, although its not as bad as stereotyped
Hipsters fucking everywhere
Gentrification is wiping away the tough, industrial character of the city and its people

Those jobs don't exist yet. They're jobs that may or may not exist - in the future. And most of those jobs are administrative jobs and... automation jobs. Jobs for people that operate robots or maintain robots. As in, none of the people that voted for Trump will see value for those jobs.

A horrible new breed of people... a new flesh... the American! A fusion of equal parts Old and New World! THE HORROR!

man I can't wait until Trump fucks up enough shit so you edgy ass political trolls go back to wanting full communisms all the time like back when bush was in office. I miss yelling at commies, they actually tried.

You new breed just go "lol you don't like the taste of trumps dick you must be only like nigdick you coouckooold lolololol"

at least get some new vocabulary that wasn't generated by the 4dicks mememachine you all worship

god damn political discussion has always fucking sucked on this website but this new breed has reached a crazy new level of being annoying

pic related, this is people who argue for political groups on the internet

Monterey area, ca
>pro
Weed
Climate (mostly)
Plenty of nature to experience
Occasional military air traffic, sometimes a u2 spy plane refuels at the airport

>con
Overpriced, overrated, tourist-filled
Meth. Meth everywhere.
Selfish overpaid assholes everywhere
Poverty and homelessness everywhere
everything's too goddamn expensive- I'd have to work 20 hours per day, 7 days per week, forever, to afford housing that I'd have no time to occupy.

If basic human needs were basic human rights, we wouldn't have these problems.

York, UK

Pros:
>City is 2000 years old, mad fuckin history everywhere. Parts of buildings were legit built by the Romans, bigass cathedral, complete and intact City Walls surround entire downtown area, one of the bars I drink at has been consistantly operated since the 1500s, roadworks projects continually being delayed because they keep finding Viking skeletons buried in the ground.
>huge pub and cafe culture, lived here most of my life and still finding new shit
>small enough that you can run into people you know all the time, big enough that sometimes you don't
>hilariously low violent crime rate
>picturesque as fuck
>global warming has been giving us some dank summers recently
>cops tend to be pretty easy going
>Kick ass local breweries
>Everyone is super friendly (most of the time)
>Wanna smoke a joint on some 13th century abbey ruins in the middle of the park? This is the place.

Cons:
>Expensive compared to the rest of Yorkshire
>Tourism season never ends
>Racetrack, for 6 months of the year every couple of weeks the city is filled with people from the northeast in ill fitting suits fighting each other/puking whenever there's a derby
>traffic is fucking abysmal (turns out Roman roads are fucking tiny who'da thought?)
>floods quite frequently resulting in the Army having to save us before we all drown (the plus side is that there is a riverside bar that will give you a hefty discount if you can still make it in when it's flooded)
>geese that will peck the fuck out of your shins

I mean I've been to way better cities, but this place has a certain charm to it, mostly down to the crazy future lives we all experience in the 21st century nestled in the architecture of the old
