What's involved with being a master? I've heard it's the master's job to figure out what people want, because people don't know it themselves. For example, did you know Malcolm in the middle almost never got aired because the test groups didn't like it?

If you give me $100 I'll sign you up for front row seats on my lecture, How to Be a Master. I'll tell you exactly how to go about things in a step by step process designed to bring you to mastership of your life if you follow my key formula on how to organize your life so as to attain that level of being a master.

People want to be able to feel good. People have to be provided with a way to feel good. There are heuristics which "masters" (read: the culture industry) use to make people feel good, to organize perception in such a way that person's response is controlled.

I’m a master, of science anyway

True mastery can never be attained, but is merely an ideal to be aspired to; for, while past a certain level of skill, one’s work or performance may appear flawless, demonstrating true mastery; yet still to the discerning eye of the master, it will contain imperfections, minute irregularities imperceptible to the untrained observer.

Mastery, then, is simply found in reaching a level of skill such that your deficiencies are invisible to a novice

I thought being a master involved lots of practice. "The grandmaster doesn't tell people he is the grandmaster, others say it for him."

Just go out there and practice something everyday and eventually you'll get really good at it, dude.

I did know that i think you and i watched the same documentary about malcom in the middle lol also to be a master is to reach the peak of a certain skill and then be able to pass the knowledge you attained while on your journey of revining that skill

ion think most people who deliver on what the masses want even understand it themselves entirely. sure they have some lucidity abt it, but look at all these recent pop stars who started out just like on soundcloud or youtube and blew the fuck up within a few years and are like 17-21 and completely retarded. they just embody the zeitgeist and funnel natural cultural energy. sure there's some effort put into being likeable/consumable, but i think pretty universally nerds who think about this kind of thing ARENT going to be mass consumable themselves, or be able to truly relate to what the masses want, just bc u are the kind of person that would dwell on that to begin with which places u in the position of an outsider

Malcolm in the middle is better than what they are putting out now. T.V channels lost advertising dollars with the net and everything spread out, now everyone can see what backwater shenanigans they're about.

Anyone know what music this is?
I'm into it.

Also, in China you call the guy who does your plumbing or your taxi driver master. The word is 师傅。

The pilot episode of Malcom in the middle was perfect but everything after that just felt like a watered down version of what we were suppose to get. That's why i can never really fully love the show as much as i want to because Malcom was already this docile obedient spiritually broken child from the gitgo, not the smart bratty kid who was meant to tell off the Adults whenever they acted like idiots.

Test groups ruined so many movies by insisting on a dumb Hollywood happy ending instead of something tragic or weird.
