3-5 depending on the year. There was a lot of drug and alcohol use, neglect, and physical abuse earlier in my life, which kind of leveled out as I entered my teens. Now my folks are clean and pretty chill and we got on alright. Not super close, but we'll text or call every few months to check in.

Probably a 3 or a 4. They've been really financially supportive and as a person I turned out alright, but they tried real hard to get me emotionally fucked up, early on. I think the turning point of never fully trusting them was in elementary school, I was just trying to tell them some shit that happened at school and during the conversation I realized from their replies that if I ever said I was something that they REALLY didn't like (gay, did drugz, etc) then I would no longer have a home. Also they beat me like a fuckin mule until I was old enough to fight back

1 until my dad died, mom by herself and spending all of the money trying to feel better was pretty 3 tier, then her trying to ransom my little sister's furnishings to her was 4. Not upset anymore, but goddamn she spent $1M in two years and part of that was an educational IRA which was also my little sister's.

For myself, I'd rate them 6. and wish for a seven. I survived them, but I am damaged, but have salvaged some peace and quiet. I know the joy of a boulder which has quietly endured the eons.

Think on this:

What is the mix of emotions called when feeling fear and joy at the same time?

I’d go for a word that means something like paralyzed with terror, melding into the highest ecstasy and excitement, but more so wedded together like a sexual partners of any sort will seek in their desires - as the scriptures wistfully say, one flesh.

That’s contentment. Contentment has content. It also works to contain the limits of another thing - like a soup can delimits how far the soup can flow, and stabilizes the soup in the can. And we are not easily stabilized - take a running stream on a mountainside.

It is happy and sad within bounds, and within the same bounds, accepting a portion of fear and joy to bear with also. I don’t want you to think of this as a kind of compromise, settling for only terror and calm. It natively has a level of acceptance of things as they are in it. There is point and direction in existence. For people and for all things alive or not alive, what was, what is, and what shall be is true equanimity as Pyrrho and Epicurus achieved I don’t have to expect too much! I don’t have to complain! I don’t have to regret or envy! I’m just thankful for life!

Just wanna stop scrutinizing the way women look for like 5 minutes that’s all. All the scrutiny from the world is what leads to people getting procedures like that done in the first place. The more judgmental people are about how women look the more they get botox and fake titties and eating disorders and whatever else. Ironically, judging her for it just ends up reinforcing the issue. Even though she’ll never see this, but I’m sure she gets comments from a lot of people online and wherever else

I've had and will have a lot of procedures in my life, everyone should obviously be free to do what they want with their own bodies and you can't legitimately judge people for how they want to look, I was just saying that I feel compelled to sculpt myself into something different, not that I'm somehow above it all and not so cripplingly insecure that I'm saving up for a completely unnecessary foot reconstruction so I can fit into shoes slightly better.

I just mentioned that tangentially, I feel like it's a completely different issue than neckbeards saying a hot woman's knees are too pointy because sour grapes. And I mean airing personal grievances and insecurities to the wind on this board is categorically not that same thing as specifically talking shit to someone's face like I'm sure countless men and women do to her all the time out of jealousy

My parents were pretty shitty I think.

They provided in the physical sense. But they did awful.

I remember as a young kid imaging how I would keep them in a basement and torture them. I'm cordial/polite with them, but I don't feel emotionally close to them (I don't like sharing stuff with them), and on the very rare occasions that I have brought up something they did, they get mad/defensive and say it never happened, that it was me as a kid misinterpreting stuff.

Also, they fought among each other and took it out on me.

Dear Sir or Madam -

Having reviewed your comment with the psychology department at Taima University, we find that you are the one in a billion people who've had perfect parents! That means that they never hit you, never scolded you, never punished you, never made you fantasize about setting them on fire, never set them on fire or had sex with their corpses. They encouraged your interest in entomology, etymology, ethology and ether.

And I'll bet you honored them by worshipping the Devil How quaint.

Discipline is important to not being a shit. The key thing is whether they were consistent and fair or not. Bad parenting is being arbitrary, letting your kids get away with stuff, blanket punishment and shit because if the correlation between actions and consequences is weak, it's no mystery why your kids are unruly. Awful parenting is turning your kids into punch bags and actually just using "discipline" as an excuse to be a sadistic piece of shit. But scolding or punishing in itself isn't bad.

And no I'm not defending my parents they were probably a 4 to 5. But not mean, just selfish and negligent and disappointing I guess.

You deserve a serious reply. Bad parenting is evil, plain and simple.

I knew this thread might go into discussions about just what is good and bad parenting, which, since my OP was simple; but things never go simply eh rite? So yeah, beating your kids up several times a day is evil, screaming at them all the time (when my Mom was awake) is evil. Nowwww.......bein a white kid, every body in my (clue-collar) town got an allowance. Since I didn't, I stole small shit as a small kid, got whipped for it. One time one of the detectives saw me steal some porn zines and caught me outside the store. He didn't know me on sight, but my name had started crossing his desk. Brings me back in the store, forces me to hand them to the manager, takes me outside. Had my hands chest height so he could cuff me. How old are you. Twelve. You wanna go to juvy? No answer. I could arrange it. Yeh uh huh. Listen, it's not about, you gonna get raped. You won't see yer buds, you eat shit food, you got no porn in there. Why do you care? My son is your age. Tell me about your parents. I did. I can have social services take them today, but you have to ask me. I need to think. You have an hour.

One hour later. If I turn them in, plenty of uncles etc would take their place. Hmm, okay. Why do you steal? No money. There are jobs for kids your age, I'll give you five bucks a day til you get one, ten day limit. Go home. The old man is, that's cool. Old lady is, you're too young. Old man is, bullshit. They fight, I leave, get a job at some mom and pop fruit store.

Later I ask him, do you ever hit your kid? I have. My wife has. Six eight times a year. Do you ever scream at him, or take away his shit? No screaming I can recall. Took away a baseball bat when he swung it at the car.

Took me tow years to get the balls to fight back. I had a dog. One day, the old lady starts screaming, the dog starets barking, I back up to a wall, she swings and I duck. The dog bit her in her hamstring and her hand cracked against the wall. She went for the dog and I kicked her in the ribs, then called the detective. Mom went ot the psycho bin for six months, came out all zombie. That made my father happy. Like I said, I'm fragile but still here.

Tho I doubt it, if by discipline you mean making them obedient to schools, governments, Amazons, we're talking at odds.

My town was obviously not Gotham City or Metropolis. Once a week, he would find me and talk with me. A real policeman, not a cop or a pig. Some ah you were in less fortunate economic circumstances I know. Glad you did it to get out or by. Malcom X by any means necessary.

Well I'd say that's "awful parenting" which I mentioned right after. I think we agree but it's semantics.

And yeah by discipline I don't mean obey the state but be a decent person. Be honest, don't steal, try to fill your responsibilities (what your responsibilities are is a whole other discussion but I'm talking reasonable expectations here), try to keep bettering yourself but also consider your actions have consequences and how they may affect others and how you'd feel.

Yeah being blindly loyal to authority is not good parenting. Again how we approach authority is yet another can of worms but if your kids have been taught by you not to question authority you fucked up.

5 I guess. Dad raised us until I was 11. Nearly killed sister, raped and beat mom within earshot, generally terrorized everyone, then ditched after divorce. Mom raised us after that, perpetrated extremely creepy and severe psychological abuse when she realized she was too small for the physical terror tactic.

However, both of them are from horrifying trauma backgrounds themselves and I understand why they are how they are they are even if I wish they hadn't had children or done horrible shit or given me all these psych problems

You can’t deny that whatever adult took this photo had the intent of sexualizing that kid on the left. Putting a kid in short shorts and high heels and makeup and asking her to pose like that is a fucked up thing. Do you think it was chill of that adult to do that? If that kid was dressing up on her own, then whatever, it could be a part of identity or social exploration. But an adult did this to her. Denying that an adult was sexualizing that kid for this photo to be taken is denying reality. Did i say that she is sexy??? No. She’s a fucking kid. I said she was sexualized by the adult who took this photo.

"sexualized" is a made up word invented by american karens to label anything that people might get aroused by. They unironically use it for adult women who dress skimpy in TV shows or in video games. And because the director/creator told them to dress this way and thus "sexualized" them. They forget that if people find hot people hot they'll get aroused. You don't need outside influence in a picture to make people aroused by it. If you have a women with huge breast in non-skimpy clothes people will still get aroused by it because it's biological and hormonal.

The point being, if you look at the picture and are aroused or have sexual thoughts it's on you. You're the one sexualizing them. I really can't how you can see high heels or make up and then get sexual thoughts from it inherently. If you're straight and see a guy in makeup and fish nets and associate that with arousal (and get mad at yourself from being turned on) most people would assume you're gay

i mean its more like trying to get a mainline into one particular part of a males brain by catering provocatively in that direction. its about stripping down all other aspects of a person and selling them as "there for your arousal". Which is insulting to both the person being sexualised, the group they belong to, and even the customer/target demographic. youre essentially viewed as a sperm-brained moron

when we're talking about adults and sexual attraction, we're still biologically the same we were for thousands of years. You can't just change that by trying un-program biology and instinct with feel-good virtues. If you see someone attractive in real life you'll feel attracted and then try to date/hook up with them, both genders not just males. That's what a lot of entertainment uses in some element or another. Just watching sexy attractive people in movies/shows is part of entertainment, even if they aren't directly "sexualized" people would watch them versus ugly/average people. What would the alternative be? Force unattractive people out of media because of someone's subjective virtue? Or have photography that is bland and lifeless because "sexualization" is wrong even though we are biological sexual beings? Seems like you're a sex-negative repressed person. Doesn't mean what you believe is reality or fact

>"sexualized" is a made up word invented by american karens
If everything in the whole world bounces back to modern day trendy buzzwords, maybe.

wasn't talking about children, just the concept of sexualized itself

I use girl models as boys all the time because we don't have any boy models and we have boy clothes too.

Oh, come on. It's not a particularly scandalous example, but it obviously has pedo undertones. The gaslighting about it is far more unnerving than the actual image lol. nb

OP here. If I post anything NSFW here it's 98% trans related........

How were your parents, bub? Nice touch with the gaslighting and virtue signaling. It's not only right, it's cool to point out. Brabo

2. My dad was a somewhat physically abusive Arkansas mountain man and my mom was too meek to really say anything about it, but they weren't bad people. No sexual abuse (though I was sexually abused by a neighbor and my father hushed it up to protect his job, which was not in politics but was highly political and community visible), no emotional abuse. My dad was a Southern Baptist minister and, because of that, he felt he had to maintain a certain level of decorum with his family, which resulted in him hushing up a lot of our early issues, such as my hearing voices and reckless destructive behavior, my brother selling weed out of his house, and my sister serial-dating any man that would fuck her in the ass.
