I bought 3 plants at Ziggy's smokeshop in Oklahoma City and the clerk assured me they were all female, but I think 2 of them are male. Pic related is male right? Those are pollen sacks?

Here is a picture from the third and last plant. Pollen sacks everywhere with nairly a hair. At least one of them is female. I wonder if trying to get a refund for the plants is more trouble than it's worth. I paid $100 + $15 tax for all 3 of them. They are Thai landrace pure sativas.

>Under SQ 788, an individual who obtains a Medical Marijuana License from the state of Oklahoma may consume marijuana legally and may legally possess up to:

>3 ounces of marijuana
>6 mature marijuana plants
>6 seeding plants
>1 ounce of concentrated marijuana
>72 ounces of edible marijuana

Something doesn't add up here. What are they thinking people will throw away half of their harvest? I guess you could make hash out of the other half and be fine...

But, how is that amazing? This still seems a little too "Step on their toes instead of kicking their shins" for my taste.

  1. Buy clones, not seedlings.
  2. For this amount I'd expect a full set of 16 clones, fully rootbound.
  3. Don't fucking buy landrace sativas, want to keep them at 12/12 for 14 weeks?

Comparatively amazing of course; plenty of states won't even allow you to grow which is beyond retarded and fucked up. Like if you're allowed to have this shit, why can't you grow it yourself? The only answer is $$$. This law allows you to grow a good variety of strains. 6 in veg and 6 in flower at any one time should be plenty for anyone because you can basically get 6 new strains to try every 2 months if you wanted. And yes, you're going to legally have to throw away a lot of it or at least prune the fuck out of your plants but who cares? It's not like you can ever smoke more than 8 ounces at a time and if you have to trim a lot of it anyway it means the stuff you don't chop is going to be top tier.

Well I never heard of shops selling plants grown out of regular seeds to homegrowers. This could never happen where I am, but then I have two places selling clones within walking distance alone.

If any of these shops would pull that shit they'd won't be around much longer as word gets around quickly.
Maybe OP really got ripped of (which doesn't make much sense from an economic perspective) but maybe he's lying about the "clerk assured me they were all female" part. But then again no shops here will sell plants sprout from landrace sativas, though you can get them as seeds, (we even have seed vending machines, lol) so maybe these are actually regular seed OP bought and they just happen to be male, which, contrary to claims of "high female rate" exactly 12.5% of the time for 3 plants.
Nathaniel Mepperstone - Sun, 10 Mar 2019 14:24:19 EST S69Ie05p No.146500 Reply
Third theory: OP custom ordered plants at the shop, picks them to be grown from landrace sativas and ask the clerk "they are female, right?" when picking them up.
The poor fella, only dealing with people who pick fem seeds doesn't even know the strain and answers "Sure." because what else is he supposed to answer.

OP: If you genuinely were ripped off I am sorry but you gotta admit that this sound highly unusual, perhaps elaborate?

>go to smoke shop in town A
>"got any weed"
>"not yet, our store in town B is selling 3 plants for $100
>drive to town B same night
>ask him what strain
"Thai Sticks"
>ask him if they are females
>"yes, we can tell by how far apart the nodes are"

Looking back I should've just bought some feminized hybrid seeds online, but on the bright side I finally have some weed that doesn't put me to sleep instantly and I've made 6 clones of the female plant and let the plant get fertalized so I will have a shitload of seeds as a backup, so life is good. The reason why it cost so much is because basically no stores were even selling plants because the law had just been passed like 2-3 months prior. It all had a happy ending so I'm not about to make a stink. Maybe I'll mention it to him if I ever go back to see if he will give me a free pipe or something.

It's only part of the story.
You can get a decent yield* with landrace sativas, but you need a professional setup.
High quality soil, or hydro, a climate controlled grow room and most importantly lots of light.

*per grow in total if you give them time, no way it's economical any other way.

OP: What kind of light you are using? It's certainly a red/purple one which has been dunked on here pretty consistently. You probably got scammed by the wattage of the light, it's probably nowhere near the amount of power it's advertised, so try to find a power meter and measure it.

Holy hell I'm getting roasted on my first grow. I got like 100 seeds and an ounce and a half of some decent smoke in 4 months, I'd consider this a success. It would've gone better, but I wasn't expecting two of the plants to be males.

I'm using a 2000 watt version of https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07923VR86/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I've been told to not use the flower mode and just run veg and flower at the same time, which I'll try after my current plant dies.

You have to remember there were 2 other plants in there. I put branches through most of the holes, but I got rid of 2 plants when I found out they were males.

Might as well post my veg/clone tent so I can get properly roasted on that too.

2000 watts and it yielded an entire ounce and a half of bud? Those cheapass blurple LEDs are the second biggest gimmick in the closet grow scene, next to overpriced bottled nutes.
Albert Billingstock - Fri, 19 Apr 2019 15:53:22 EST S69Ie05p No.146586 Reply
"2000W" At first the light in your picture pretty much looks like "600W" version which is rated at "132w" if that is even right. Lets assume that is right for the moment.
Lets assume they are using the usual chinesium LED chips at ~1 umol/s/w efficacy.
Giving it all the benefit of a doubt that's 132umol/s PAR output.
But: It's not your fault, these scammers prey on grow noobs and less technical literate people who go into growing.

For USD 89 you could have bought a basic 400W HPS kit which puts out roughly ~700 umol/s including reflector and ballast losses. Or alternatively a 250W HPS with an electronic ballast and decent reflector with a cool 420umol/s for that small tent.

PS: PAR measurements directly below the light mean shit. These burbple shit lights use lenses to focus the light in a tight spot which gives high reading if you put a meter directly below it. If you measure over the whole grow area things are different.
That's why these scam sellers advertise these firgures but they will never publish that actual PAR output of the whole light.

It's not even the red/blue narrow spectrum that is at fault here but the fact that these cheap china LEDs are equipped with tiny DIEs.
You see the main reason why LEDs have vastly different performance figures is the vastly different amount of silicon area in relation to the current that is passed through them. (well actually the band-gap area which is affected by the quality of the substrate as well as the area of the chip)
Long story short the cheap ass LEDs they are using have a tiny area and are made from low quality silicon.
Albert Billingstock - Fri, 19 Apr 2019 16:08:52 EST S69Ie05p No.146587 Reply
Throw away the LED panel you are using now and get yourself one of these:
Don't buy the "pure par lamp" option (it's shit)
Instead get a set of spare 3000K bulbs in addition to a regular set of 6000K this way you have the perfect combo of veg/bloom

You can of course get a decent LED light for about the same price if you DIY it but if you are at a budget and do not mess around HPS & T5 florecents are still a pretty good option.

Besides building it from scratch these quantum board kits are the best bang for your buck, yes.
You need a fairly large tent to take advantage of those but if you have the space go for it.
An alternative, even more price effective if you do not mind soldering are
Samsung H in Flux LED strips
And a matching meanwell driver to run as many of them in series as possible.

It says it can be used to flower a 4x4. I'll probably upgrade to that. Thanks.

I have all my lights and fans connected to an uninteruptable power supply, so I was able to find out how much my lights are drawing.
The 2000 watt replacement in my 4x4 flowering tent draws 180 watts.
The 600 watt replacement in my 2x1 veg tent draws 117 watts.
All my fans use 324 watts including the 2 pointed at my plants and the 2 near the roof to circulate air. Kinda interesting I'm almost spending the same amount of money to move air around as I do to shine light on the plants.

I also bought a bunch of single feminized seeds focusing on strains with high THC and low CBD and strains known for their psychadellic effects.
Caroline Fanworth - Thu, 25 Apr 2019 18:23:59 EST S69Ie05p No.146598 Reply
You still can get a sativa high without resorting to landraces.
Pretty much any haze variant will do, and if you want to have a no-compromise psychedelic high you still can pick a plain original haze, which btw is a hybridized version of the strongest landrace sativas.
But then pick what you want, personally I get paranoid if there isn't a reasonable amount of CBD.

About the fans power consumption:
How did you accomplish that? Did you buy an industrial box fan on ebay or something? The noise must be deafening.
I am an advocate for over-dimension of air in a grow but only in order to add a climate controller that runs the fan on lower power during normal operation and have the ability to switch it to high during hot and humid summer days.

As a rule of thumb: Use a fan with about as much cubic meter / hour (CMH) as the net power consumption of the light, in doubt round down. (If all the fans you can get are rated in CFM just type into google
180 cubic meter per hour to cfm

Then you can run it at half power (hint get a fan that already has two power modes) or else use a transformer and relays.

>How did you accomplish that? Did you buy an industrial box fan on ebay or something? The noise must be deafening.

I kinda went overboard on my flower tent fans. I use a 20 inch industrial fan on the ground. It kinda lolipops my plants for me and makes life hell for the bugs, so it isn't the worst thing in the world. It is very loud. I keep all the fans in the flower room on the lowest setting and pointed at the base of the plants and can change how much the plant dances with the angle of the fan.

I watched the Jorge Cervantes grow dvd like >>146553 reccomended and it says to place the fans above the canopy, so I'll probably hang an oscilating 12 or 14 inch fan from the top of the tents above the light or something.

The flower fans are very loud and I can hear them through the walls faintly. It doesn't bother me, but it probably makes it hard for the weed to hear the music I leave on for them.
Polly Ponderpat - Sun, 28 Apr 2019 16:27:38 EST S69Ie05p No.146604 Reply
That's the problem with buying equipment based on what's easy to afford...
The fan you've got for your flowering tent is about twice as big as you need for a 4ftx4ft tent, (Considering about 600W of lights)
But since you have a controller you can run it at about 1/4th to half, but check that the carbon filter you've got still operates efficiently at that throughput.

lol at hearing the fan trough the wall btw, depends on your living situation I guess but still.
There are silent fans out there, but they cost more.
You can probably keep the stuff you've got now if you run it at lower power.

Also look at all that with a grain of salt. Normally people buy ventilation sets that are matched to a specific purpose (like the size of the tent & watts, etc)
You can't just combine any fan with any carbon filter, there are pressure diagrams you have to match up.

I'm going to replace the duct fan with another quiet white one so my grow room will be quiet.

Also I moved my laptop into the grow room so the plants can hear the music better.

I've actually been harvesting her every day for about a month now, just going in with some cauterized needle pruners and snipping off 1/2 - 1 gram of wet weed. It's kinda neat seeing how much it gives every day. It seems the day after watering her she doubles her production and doesn't seem to mind it one bit. It has also made me really good with the scissors and I can usually snip the popcorn nugs without harming the two fan leaves it sits on.

I managed to get my wattage down from 621 to 441 by removing my big duct fan and replacing it with my quieter white fan I was using in my veg tent and connecting the tents with ducting. It is also much much quieter. I can't hear the grow through the walls any more and I can actually hear the music now.

I also got the seeds I ordered and planted 6 of them. It looks like a jungle in the veg tent.

Thanks for posting OP. I've never seen such terrible genetics in a plant. I suppose this is one that I could actually believe is a real landrace from Thailand because it looks like it hasn't been bred to have desirable growing characteristics. Modern strains are so amazing that like a single top is enough to get a flat canopy of densely stacked nodes with fat colas. Try buying seeds online from a reputable breeder and you'll be amazed.
