It's going to be OK. Let go and let God. Do you have a higher power in your life yet? It can be anything. Alcoholism is a spiritual disease man. Please turn to page 153 of the Big Book ($25 by the coffee table that is one of the traditions we don't take donations). This completes my 240 hours of community service. I'm out of this bitch. Got to go and pay $3000 to get this fucking interlock removed.

Hey man, AA is NOT A CULT. Bill W. (PBUH) made it clear that we are to have no religious or political affiliation. Now who wants to stick around and mop out this church basement after the meeting?

You need to have an attitude of gratitude, brother. Remember, pain is the touchstone of spiritual growth. You're only as sick as your secrets.

Aa is a mousetrap for the mental ill, and should be burned to the ground

They sent me to rehab now I’m required to attend meeting. AA NA CA it’s a big pity party.
>you’ve got a resentment
You’re god damn right I have a resentment. Your higher power is bullshit and I’m sick of your 12 step shuffle

instead of being addicted to drugs, get addicted to people, what can go wrong? I mean, you could try getting some professional help from people who actually read anything more than leaftets they are handing out and work on your addictive personality issues but who would waste time on this crap, right?

>>29863 Look mate, I'm 29 years clean through NA and considering the destruction of my life prior to coming to the rooms I'm grateful to be clean.

Violates your right to free association and religion for a court to require you to go to AA or NA. Buddhist dude in Hawaii sued the state for ordering him to go to AA and he won on those grounds.

Also their methodology is outdated (addiction is not a lifelong disease), founded on moralistic bullshit (Bill W got clean after a psychospiritual breakthrough from LSD) and it's not clear how successful the program is since they either don't track their success rate or don't release that info. If it helps some people, cool, but it never worked for me. Only until I did ibogaine and stopped following their stupid ass religious manifesto did I find the meaning I lacked in my life, and I found it and defined for MYSELF, without hanging out with a bunch of depressed fucks with arrested development who think they're forever cursed by old behaviors

Yea, LSD I really do not think will keep one from being a drinker. Nor is AA really workable. i have seen people get reamed saying they got to step whatever. Where the entire hour/whatever was focused on the person lying to himself and everybody there. I know peoples sincerity, in general. I know he likely had not drank in a month, if he jumped up in a short time as that, why the fuck not.
Why demean his self-integrity, sense of self-fulfillment.

Everybody raggin on him for making progress soo darn quick, I imagine he either stayed up all night, feeling bad, or hit the liguor store, and regardless never went back to the group. Most groups have their own personalities.
I guess. This on in particular, drinking or not, hopeless fucks, who were
geared in, I am an alcoholic for life, and will continue to be helplesss hopeless with no future ambitions. Like 'one foot in the past one in tomorrow' you are pissing on today, and the idiotic saying of the past.

To succedd in the twelve step, you have to ack the past by making amends to 'all' you have harmed. Impossible at best. Other, maybe you were the one harmed and never really posed any burden on others. Make itto work, ork, drink, do it all over again.

Aside, the big book, started with a few pages. Not 'the big book's' peoples' insane self broadcasting interpretations and insane rules that seem to
point to no self-determination, self-respect, no gorals other than thos tinkets of 30 days sober. basic nothingness.

Imagine carrying around a whole lotta sober coins. Showing em off. Like medals. Not knocking these groups for those who work these work for them.

But people personalities have or should change for the better. Not stay the same, or be worse. In essence I feel AA keeps many people in a state of feeling stuck as an AA alcoholic. Other interests are kinda frowned upon.

In short I convinced my peoples, that I did not and would not attend AA, and my points were ration, very clear. From you have to go to these meetings, to well, OK.
See what you mean. My point was, I don't have to portray myself as a useless? hopeless? sober drunk my entire life to, stay sober. That ambitiousness is entirely better than ambitions to be a sober alcoholic.

In all, I did fail, over and over. But never really had any ambitions to not stay sober, a year not drinking, no issue.

Speaking of coins, some bars give you a free drink if you give em your AA coin

Turns out AA isn't worthless after all!

>be me 5 years ago
>completely addicted to heroin, benzos, cocaine, weed etc.
>get intervention'd and sent to rehab in a different state
>get sober and move into a halfway house and drink the kool aid so to speak
>years later
>done the steps, sponsored, spoke at meetings whole nine yards
>start becoming honest with myself at what was really going on
>yes i was helped and had helped others but the majority of the people in the rooms i didn't like
>i had to be around them near daily
>i had to pretend to be someone im not to go along with them
>I had to watch person after person be the most hypocritical scumbags and fuck people over and use their "disease" as a valid excuse
>i had to ignore the endless ego-stroking and humble bragging
>i had to hear really depressing, hopeless, fucked up life stories constantly which left me feeling worse after awhile
>I had to believe that ANY return to ANY substance use of any kind whatsoever whether it be a single dose of MDMA at a music festival in spain or a joint at home in the evening after a long day at work would result in the complete destruction of my life and my eventual death
>basically started to feel like this was all bullshit
>i had made a few great friends and dated in the rooms so i felt kind of stuck
>fast forward about 6 months
>my sponsor got busted in a police raid with a pound of meth in his apartment
>he had 18 years supposedly clean and sober
>it comes out that a bunch of bigwigs in the fellowship knew about it and that he was giving newcomers drugs for sex but they didn't do anything about it or care.
>i deleted all my contacts within the program (except for 2 people whom im still close too and aren't programmed to death) and never looked back
I guess its good that if you're not in court you can leave at any time, i did have a few people try to track me down and shit afterwards but once they saw i was fine and going to move on with my life they accepted it. Its been a couple years and my vices are weed and beer and cigs and i still haven't shot dope again, but that's just my experience heh.

Sounds like me man. I felt That massive dissonance of lying to myself too. After two years (God damnit) a guy just exploded on a few friends of mine calling em cocksuckers anything you can think of, during the meeting, so I stand up and tell him to shut the fuck up. And the room tells me that it's his turn to talk still. So I said oh ya you're all fucked fuck you all. And I left and that was that,

Thanks to that piece of shit old timer who woke me up and saved my life from aa.

No, took 2 years to get clean. I find talking to other addicts keeps me clean as I can say things that I would never want outside people to know about me or the things (crimes) I did. Took 12 years to do the steps..I'm a bit of a heretic I guess. I'm an older guy nearly 70 and for the record have been lifting weights 31 years now so built and healthy and I'm sure that helped. All but two of my old friends died of overdoses, aids, liver cancer (hep c) beatings etc so I'm doing okay. I'll go to a meeting tonight, pick up some newcomers on the way with transport issues.
Married a non NA woman 26 years ago and have a son. Never fucked a NA girl, tempting, but was too old to try Ha ha. Ya gotta keep a sense of humor. Atheist but knowledgeable about the main faiths. Nothing to loose about staying clean.

Haha I hreard about this while I was in rehab, apparently it's really common in Texas. I find that to be too hilarious. I didn't drink the Kool-Aid for a second, AA/NA is absolutely a cult and seeing how many weak minded people need that crutch to control their lives really made me thankful for my skeptic nature.

i did the same thing on a much smaller scale 6 months total sobriety living in recovery house cause i was strung out on heroin.

As soon as i moved out of the sober house I smoked weed and just smoke weed and take benzos occasionally (which i know is playing with fire) and in November ill have a year off dope
