Okay, so at least the rich, the military, and administrative people are safe. what about Joe Schmuck? Is he just left out in the cold to die?

Could this thread be used to bandy about thoughts and ideas? For instance, my idea is that if we find out where in the world has had the lowest consecutive air pressure for as long as has been recorded on the opposite hemisphere (to Yellowstone), that is also relatively shielded in terms of topology, then apply a physiscs model of the caldera's eruption to the equation, we can work out where we should hope to be when this figurative earth-zit gets popped.

Ha, good idea but nope.
That cloud of ash and debris will cover the entire planet, No light. No plants.

Unless you're underground and have a healthy appetite for mushrooms and fungus. You are fucked.

Cover the entire planet? Really?!

That is most definately an exaggeration. Think of the sheer amount of debris needed to even reach across the US. I get the whole block out the sun for a little bit and cause trouble but I have trouble believing the entire world could be covered in ash.

If Yellowstone erupts, we're all fucked. No ifs, ands, or buts.

The only things you need in your bug out bag for Yellowstone is a bottle of fine wine and a fully loaded revolver. Take your last drink and put a bullet in your head if Yellowstone erupts.

It's one of the few sudden SHTF scenarios that there is no way to prepare for or survive.

Even says "previous projections proved to severe. Most species would weather an eruption just fine."
