How do we keep our cybernetic augmentations maintained and powered in a post-apocalyptic world?

You learn to do it yourself.

Am I the only one creeped out by that chick's face and fake looking eyebrows?

I would go the way of taking over the institution that the technology is located in and then "learn to do it myself" through reverse engineering

In practice, replacing them with non-powered older versions. Not so far back as hooks and peg legs, but muscle controlled and manipulated basic units.

...And now i'm wondering what it would feel like to get a handy from a hotty with a robot arm.

You know, hooks are pretty damn good. I'd rather have a hook than one of those fucking discount claw gripper thingies.

A hook would be OK, but it could be improved. A magnetic phillips head screwdriver in the tip would be a good addition. And a bottle opener.

Well her hand probably has a synthetic skin overlay kinda like a glove that both protects the augment, makes it look somewhat real instead of like a robotic hand and makes things like handshakes and handjobs possible.

CYBER-REACHAROUND

>>14118
look at the methods used for protection of window motors, wiper motors, and door lock actuators in automotive applications, they have lots of plastic bushings that wear out, but those could probably be replaced with bushings made of a softer metal than the main functional portions of the mechanical hand. they also use thick grease to keep points of articulation lubricated and trap dust that would enter and damage these points of articulation. while cables bind/snap fairly often, ive found its usually the motor that gives out first, and thats usually due to lack of lubrication on the part that the motor actuates.
LUBE IT UP, WRAP IT UP (in an appropriate dust boot)
