I got drunk for 50 days, with only a 2 day in a row break after 43 days. At one point for a few seconds, my left eye wouldn’t move along with the right one while I was drinking.

When I turned 21 I was drunk for 9 months and went through withdrawals. I got a little bit of the kindling. I have no clue what caused me to tailspin because for the past 5 years, I mostly had it under control. It was the random freak out feelings and the stuck eyeball that made me worry because that had never happened before. NB so my stupid little thread can die

After almost a year of working at my job I've finally been called out for smelling like alcohol at work. I work in billing and sit at a computer all day. I'm so used to my job that being buzzed makes me work faster and more productively.

I know drinking at work is bad etc, but work is actually enjoyable right now and I'm doing great on my reports. How do you guys mask the smell of booze when you're drinking in public? Gum isn't working

If drinking vodka, keep a bottle of spray antiseptic (isopropal alcohol) on your desk with your water bottles. Make sure somebody sees you spray it on you keyboard etc every now and then. The water trick above in post, I couldn't smell associate drink but he would sure get drunk. Pleanty of water, no rum or whiskey. Cigarette smoking will somehow make drinking alcohol smell more noticeable by far.

Another guess, if you can burn incense make sure it gets into your clothing. The incense smell will reach a person before alcohol will and will overpower and or counter the smell of alcohol.

I have friends who swore by this method when they were alcoholics. One was a young guy 26 who was a psychiatry grad and worked as a case worker doing intake interviews. Dealt with people everyday. What he did was drink vodka, carried it around in a plastic water bottle, and ate one of those big gas station pickles as a chaser. People just saw it as a quirky. He said it completely hid any trace of alcohol smell from his breath, and that even his fiance who worked at the office with him couldn't smell anything other than pickle. He eventually got in a car wreck and everything came crashing down, but everyone was taken by complete surprise that he had a drinking problem.

I drink a lot but this... I don't understand.

I drank earlier today and got kinda drunk, then it wore off and I felt pretty off. Now it's the evening and a drank something and I don't feel buzzed or drunk, instead I feel transcendentally normal.
I was feeling unwell but didn't realize and now I feel completely fine, and not just that, I feel like how I normally do when sober.

I never liked beer until I tried the stuff from Germany a couple years ago, especially wheat beer like Franziskaner. Thought I simply didn't like the taste of hops but I tried Spaten Optimator and liked it. I've always heard about German beer being superior but it's difficult to find it where I live. Any Germans here want to recommend other good beers from their country especially wheat beer?

I am a pretty huge beer snob and this one is the very best -- possibly the best there's ever been in the style.

I was astounded when I tried this beer as it was the first time in my life that I knew what a beer was. It took me back to my dreams as a child imagining what a beer must taste like. It is what I imagined butterbeer must taste like when grew up reading the Harry Potter novels as a child.

It is all at once both so familiar yet mind blowing. If we had to send a beer up into space, encapsulated for all time, then it would be this one.

It is simply beer.

I got ahead of myself. Ayinger's Celebrator is doppelbock, and it simply represents the very best of this style of beer.

Much different than Germany's wheat beers, it is a intensely rich and buttery beer -- heavenly malty.

These are practically my favorite alcohol, especially those beers from Ayinger. Hacker-Pschorr is fantastic, and less expensive. Weihenstephaner, and of course Franziskaner like you mentioned is awesome as well. Try to find a really good dedicated liquor store and explore around

I'm taking a long break from drinking in 2020.

This year was hard for me, I drank more than I generally ever have due to a bad breakup, losing friends due to my anxiety issues and losing pets and family members.

I binge drank. I partied at bars. I drank and met many people. And yes, while it did help at first with my social anxiety and introversion issues it also made me feel worse overall 24/7. My friend would come over, we'd drink two big bottles of whiskey. Split a case of beer/Mike's Hard lemonades and then call it a day. I'd be belligerent, annoying, too talkative and sometimes just a loudmouth douche. When generally while sober or even high I'm way more chill. I didn't like that side of me. It made being around other drunks more tolerable but it also started making me feel like shit. I'd wake up, have a terrible migraine, heart pounding, room spinning, diarrhea, vomit on the floor from the night before, one time I fell and split open my kneecap and almost had to get stitches from a drunken night of buffoonery. And then I'd start drinking again at 11 AM. And feel like complete shit. And the cycle continues. Not to mention then being sober would be a miserable awkward experience.

Drinking can be fun in *moderation* but don't overdo it, mang. It ain't worth it. I'm taking a long ass break. I can't promise to stop forever cause I can't keep that promise but man I need to start taking breaks... it's just too hard on the body. (And mind)

Honestly, for me now 2 months later (getting on 3) I rarely think of drinking anymore, and my drinking friend has been very understanding of my desire to slow down. Also there's good alternatives out there, if you need *something* Be sure to look into natural alternatives (Kratom, kava, damiana, CBD flower, ashwagandha, L-theanine, the list goes on)

Anyone else here waste their 20's being a drunk? I didn't drink a drop of alcohol until my 23rd birthday. I used to lift weights, be in great shape, etc. Then, like my father, I started drinking a lot. Now I drink at least 6 days a week. Mostly just cheap beer. I usually clear a 6 pack of tall-boys a day. Only had 3 tonight so I walked across the street to the liquor store to buy a 40 and another tallboy. I'm 29 now. Wasted 6 years of my life, my physical prime. No end in sight.

Sucks man.

I'm 26. I've lost a few jobs and had some failed relationships due to my drinking. I've been drinking heavily since I was 19. At this point my tolerance is so high I have to drink a lot of liquor to get drunk. Beer is a waste of time at this point. I have a few scars on my body from accidents while drunk and generally feel shitty both mind and body when I'm not drinking.

I love alcohol and having a steady supply of it allows me to tolerate life with at least some enthusiasm. When I'm sober I can deal, but I'm usually just unenthusiastic and disinterested in life. Irritable as well but I do my best not to take it out on others. When I start drinking all the cobwebs clear and I start appreciating life and other people again. So on one hand, the drinking does play a benefit in my overall happiness and quality of life, but at the same time has made me dependent to feel "normal" and I know it isn't a healthy way to live. It's a bitch really. As much as I like to drink I really just wish I would have never started in the first place.

>as much as I like to drink I really just wish I would have never started in the first place

Yeah I feel you man. I've managed to keep my drinking mostly under control and a lot of that has to do with my girlfriend, but I do love it. If it wasn't for the shitty hangovers and just generally fucking up sleep, appetite, etc. I would probably drink a lot more than I do.

Definitely makes you wonder how it would be to have never started drinking so heavily. Would I be smarter? Would I be more successful? Would I have a bunch of knowledge and skills gained from all the time energy poured into that rather than getting drunk and toiling away? It's hard to tell because there's no control group, no reference point to compare yourself to. You can look at statistics but it's a wide bell curve. There are plenty of shitfaced mother fuckers out there living the dream and there are plenty of stone cold sober losers who have nothing to show for their entire lives.

I will say that from my own experience and from many others' reports, quitting definitely can reverse SOME of the damage. Might not ever be where you were if you never took a sip of alcohol but both science and the world's wealth of anecdotal reports suggest you can make big steps towards that. Alas, it's a journey that requires descending into the valley before you can climb the mountain. Some may face the journey, others may not. Until then, bottoms up my friend.

I can't stand the price and taste of spirits anymore. I have to resort to homebrew rum, which tastes freaking awful. The rum I make is all sour and tastes like vinegar. I have to keep eating to mask the awful taste. Where I live alcohol is expensive so I have to find the strongest spirits to make the best bang for the buck, but ofcourse it tastes fucking awful. The only thing i found thats remotely even close to alcohol is phenibut, it helped me quit booze for a year but its weird, feels like its killing my memory and creativity and i have to keep taking larger amounts to feel its effects which doesn't feel safe. What do? Maybe I should just quit cold turkey.

I have been making wine (with just sugar) for the past few years, then switched to Turbo rum because it only takes 3-5 days to ferment. Both of them are just as sour. I did some research though and might of figured out why it tastes so sour and like vinegar. It might be due to using plain sugar as the main ingredient. If i used dextrose it will work better. Dextrose is a little bit more expensive. I have to wait till the end of month before i can buy some and see the results though. Right now im just drinking last spirits I have which were pretty expensive becaue of our mafia government taxing alcohol through the roof. I regret buying it though, should have just bought sugar or dextrose and waited a few days. kek.

This. Take sips of liquor and immediately chase it. You'll get used to it and will be able to drink more and quicker. The key is finding a good chaser that masks the aftertaste of the spirit you're drinking.
