>You gotta chug tough and fast and get so schnockered that you pass out. Otherwise, booze is gonna stimulate your nervous system enough to keep you awake. Go hard, or not at all, otherwise you'll sleep like shit
This is how it works for me. I binge and binge, drink maybe 15-20 beers in a night but I'm a slow drinker and I never really get wasted. Even if I load up on codeine/morphine or take other CNS shit I rarely feel like I can sleep. I have to spend an extra bunch of money for a bottle of spirits or something and start mixing them in or drink that towards the end if I want to pass out and sleep.
If I feel like shit before I start drinking I feel stim from alcohol and that's it, that's how I keep chugging 'em back steadily.

I have a chronic pain condition and have trouble sleeping though but yeah. Seriously drinking stims me, happens for some people.

Thanks anons, this is what I needed to hear. I thought alcohol would automatically make me feel sleepy because of GABA agonism, but it's a dirty drug after all and it affects a shitload of different receptors in different ways. It explains why I can't feel asleep every night of the working week before 2 A.M.

I haven't been on this chan since jenkem was still a dedicated board for the lolz. Anywho, I feel I can trust to ask here and look for legitimate advice on this. I woke up in the middle of a seizure from withdrawals. I've weened myself off to prevent the shakes while I'm at work and they have calmed down. Blah, blah, something, something. TL;DR I realized if I don't stop drinking im going to die. Please help.

And by drink two days in a row I mean recreationally. I always keep a little bit, like a beer or two, on hand the day after I drink, not to get drunk but to decrease the severity of whatever withdrawals I might experience. But you seriously don't want to get hammered through consecutive nights. That's when your brain goes back into overexcitation mode. nb

I tapered down and then stopped. Then I drank about 6 drinks last night for the first time in about 5 days and today I'm super irritable and anxious. Does it make sense to get withdrawals after 1 day of drinking again.

yes it makes sense. i have the same experience. also, 5 days of soberity is nothing, IME 3 months is the minimum to see the good results. just a friendly protip: once your brain is kindled, do yourself a favor and accept that you can't drink anymore. i know, it's very hard, because we want to be drunk. But with every wd it gets worse and worse, until you reach the absolute endpoint where you just can't drink anymore. this endpoint can be seizures, or as it was for me, psychosis. yes, i was hospitalized in a mental hospital for a severe psychosis that was caused by alcohol withdrawal, and now i have very bad anxiety 24/7. do yourself a favor and don't drink.

I never liked beer until I tried the stuff from Germany a couple years ago, especially wheat beer like Franziskaner. Thought I simply didn't like the taste of hops but I tried Spaten Optimator and liked it. I've always heard about German beer being superior but it's difficult to find it where I live. Any Germans here want to recommend other good beers from their country especially wheat beer?

Liver displaying abnormal levels of ATP

See topic.
It's not the scariest thing in the world and when I spoke to my friends they said they all knew someone who had had that before, and the advice was basically stop drinking for a while and really basic shit like diet and exercise.

Still, it's a little worrying. My entire life I've failed to quit drinking because whenever I've tried it's seemed pointless. I'm still doing well in life. I still feel good. I'm achieving my goals and if I wanna have a beer after I finish work then I should have a beer. But now, after finding out that my liver is displaying signs of damage...still having that attitude would mean that I had a problem.

Been one week sober so far and tbh I feel more bored than I do better. But the upside is that I found it much easier to quit than I thought. As soon as "but I'm BORED" wasn't a good enough excuse to relapse then it's come to me pretty easy.
I notice there's quite a lot of /detox/ threads on here right now, sorry for adding to them but just put it out there. That said, it's only been a week and I've said I'll be off it 3 months. There's no quarantine where I am but my birthday is coming up, I think that'll be tough.
Hope everyone is staying safe, have a good day guys.

Regardless ur organs whether they are ok or not, as you age, the effects of alcohol on your mind will compound. Even as a mild drinker will most likely have effects. The theory is that people who have genetics like italians or greeks who have been drinking for ages, they handle it better, but from what i can see it still effects them. If you are worried about any form of your health it really is best to just quite. That being said, im not judging, i am drunk as i write this.

Be careful dude. You're making a smart choice to stop for a bit. You're life definitely isn't something to play with.

Last summer I somehow contracted Hepatitis A while cleaning out this dirty ass hoarders house for work. I was drinking heavily starting in the morning before that and one day I woke up with full on jaundice. Yellow eyes and skin, swollen liver and extremely dark urine. I thought I was gonna die. I was already stressing my liver out so much from the drinking that when I got Hep I had full on symptoms.

I quit drinking for a few months but it was some scary shit, liver problems are nothing to play with. Good luck to you, hope everything works out!

How long were you drinking before you started to experience withdrawal?
I've been drinking heavily off and on for about 8 years, since the virus I have been drinking a lot more. Today I tried to detox a little and experienced rapid heart beat, anxiety and mild tremors, so I had a few drinks and it all went away. I think it might have been the beginning stages of withdrawal. Anyone else that has also gone through this that can provide some insight?

Best of luck to you bro. Don't get a handle and a 30 case.

If you do it you are fucking your own life up. Withdrawal is a real thing especially considering drinkers like us. I just came off of 3 days of withdrawal and broke down and got drunk. Been drinking a lot for years.

You're wanting to rush back in to a fuck load of drinking but you're forgetting about the anxiety, death feeling of being hungover, shaking anxiety, for days when you try to stop. When you haven't been drinking for a while but see a friend and get wasted, then a month disappears. You haven't been drinking since you've been in jail.... once you aren't on parole just smoke weed and don't keep alcohol.
