I'm not super rich, but I try to tip at least a dollar per drink and at least a fiver total in extra bits if I have money. Sometimes if I'm pinched it's just a dollar per drink. Of course, if I was ordering elaborate cocktails or something difficult I'd probably tip more, but it's usually just beer and shots.

How do you decide your tipping habits, /hooch/? Assume you like the bartender.

Feels great being from a country where tipping isn't a thing because people get paid a sensible amount. Seems like a real headache

dollar per drink. If it's slow as fuck (like morning), I'll tip a bit more. If I get a mixed drink (very rare), then I'll do a couple bucks per drink.

Yeah, same, just checking because I think we have stealth bartenders in here trying to get us to tip for lapdances.

I'm a pretty generous tipper in most situations. That being said I'd probably tip $5 per 1-2 drinks served, if the service was good.

I go out like 2 to 4 times a month and i almost always tip like 20 bucks or more even if its just a few drinks. I usually know the bar tender and its always a busy friday/saturday night so its worth it to get good service. That being said i can understand a dollar a drink especially if its slow or youre in there every night. But being a good tipper if you can afford it definitely earns you perks, ive been hooked up with free drinks, extra shot in my cup, top shelf when i asked for well etc

I'm usually too poor to drink at bars (welfare, addictions, etc) but I try and tip at least a dollar per drink. Sometimes I only tip quarters and shit, I live on 260$ CAD a month. Feels bad, I hope they don't think I don't appreciate their service.

Leaving a tip at all is more than generous, I'd rather not overthink it. Just leave a buck here and there if you like to. You don't have millions in the bank, do you? Well you never will if you become a generous tipper for no fucking good reason.

>thinking you'll ever have millions in the bank while talking bar talk on a drug board
>quibbling over a few dollars tip while talking about millions in the bank

Have fun getting shit service cuz you don't know how to tip.

Here's the secret everyone can tip $5 over a few hours at the bar. Wait till the end of the night and leave em $10 or $11 all at once, every time.

If I don't buy at least that many drinks in that time, I'm probably not drunk enough, so I agree. I just think most bartenders are smart enough, but I guess maybe I see the point. Sometimes if I have less cash in my pocket than I can use on a drink at last call I just empty it.

There is no real preferred customer if one 'overly' tips. If you see things right a bartender may hint at better service, offer a free beer maybe. Give you a better than average strength drink. But that is kind of speculation.

In reality, nothing is guaranteed. Poeple who overly tip then appear kinda overly buzzed in a short while are just chumps, and usually treated as overly buzzed chumps.

Unless it's somebody who knows how to make drinks, especially at a more upscale place,
a dollar or two is jsut fine. Lower class places, a dollar is fine, then leave change like
tip 25 or 50 cents, maybe 75 cents every so often.

If you want service, just leave your change on the table or at the bar while you are being served.
That generally shows, you will be recognized that you will likely be consuming more drinks later and will be likely recognized. As opposed to the person who just tosses some dollars at the waitress bartender by default. Just say here ya go, a couple of bucks handed directly to the
server if you like. And the server seems to like you and or your group.

I did have a bartender, associate who would just say what do you want? And just get drinks. Then tip him maybe a $ten or twenty caculating how many drinks you got without being charged for every drink.

Wouldn't they do that anyway if you asked to make with more alcohol?

I've been tipping 1 dollar per drink for the past 15 years, and that's the way I'll always do it.

I hope for 20% of the check. Im ok with 15% too...anything less than that, and Ill act like everything is ok and call you a cheapass behind your back

i dont like places that wont let me open a tab. if they're making me pay cash for every single drink and expecting a dollar for every bottle they pop open i'll probably leave after 2 drinks. if it's a civilized establishment and i can close out a tab i'll tip 20-30% depending on service
