It is like a brass monkey but better tasting and adds the needed bitterness that you would usually get from hops that is missing in malt liquor.

Grapefruit juice is also an inhibitor of cytochrome p450. This is the enzyme that is responsible for metabolizing many drugs, including ethanol.

Consuming a cytochrome p450 inhibitor results in higher blood plasma concentrations of ethanol. This is why you often see on the back of medications to not take with grapefruit juice.

You are welcome.

I just posted this in /b/, but might as well post here, too. There's several types of cytochrome p450. Alcohol is metabolized by CYP2E1. Grapefruit inhibits several cytochrome p450 enzymes, but CYP2E1 is not one of them.

It is a great mixer, though.

Okay, fair enough. I suggest popping a Tagamet while drinking, as well as using a grapefruit mixer for taste.

Schöfferhofer makes a nice grapefruit shandy, and I’ve heard Leinenkugel also makes a decent one. I’d rather have a sour than a shandy—more variety, more alcohol—but they’re great to sip the day away on your patio or doing yard work. Still, the ~3% ABV largely doesn’t do it for me, and the sweetness becomes cloying after awhile

When I used to get royally smashed I would buy 5 or 6 grapefruits, a couple of lemons or limes, squeeze them, pour the juice in empty bottle, add a bit of organic honey and fill the other half (or the desired amount) with Moskovskaya or Russian Standard. Shit's was so fucking delicious and the morning after I would wake up feeling fine

This honestly sounds pretty, pretty good lol. Honey must offset the tartness of the lemons and limes, and I love grapefruit juice. May have to give it a try!

yeah but really don't ruin it by using bottom shelf rubbing alcohol. I know it's idiotic to spend more than 15$ for a bottle of vodka but so is buying the cheapest stuff, unless you are broke as shit obviously... but in that case you should just chase it with iced water or any other standard fruit juices from concentrate
