Hey /hooch/

How is coronavirus affecting your drinking? Personally not physically going to work is making it much easier to get loaded every day. . .

I've been drinking a lot less since I'm not hitting bars after work or picking up cases of beer on the way home and also because I can't stockpile alcohol because however much I buy I always drink in one sitting and going to the store every day just for beer is unethical. Sometimes I've been buying things I don't actually need while picking up booze because the police can issue fines here if you're making unnecessary journeys. I decided to go through horrible withdrawals when my work closed and now I'm only drinking once or twice a week.

Yeah it's not like I expect anyone on an alcohol board to have over a double digit IQ. But I may as well spread the message regardless. Fight the quarantine before you end up in an interment camp.

(UK here) There are fines in place, but the answer to that question is no. The police are not going to know wtf you buy. You can get fined if you are travelling unnecessarily but during the day it's not like they're pulling people over randomly unless you have camping gear or some shit on your car. You are allowed to travel a reasonable distance for exercise. I have heard that some supermarkets are not letting you buy "non-essential" stuff on its own which makes sense because it's supposed to discourage retards from going out all the time to buy completely unnecessary shit that happens to also be sold by supermarkets (dunno if booze is considered non-essential). Just buy some food as well (eat it too while you're at it before you end up in the hospital and catch covid from there). I've been buying 4L once a week (2x1L from 2 different supermarkets). I was behind a lady last week (who I know to be an alcoholic) who was just buying milk and vodka. She had no issues. I have been stopped once coming home from work (I work in healthcare) but it's because it was like 9PM and everywhere is closed by then since all the supermarkets are closing early. Said I had just finished work and it was fine.

Drinking 2 to 4 beers before every shift at my grocery store job. New jersey thankfully decided to make liquor stores essential. Pennsylvania did not so we got those fuckers coming over and taking our beer

Sounds like a dry county in my state on a normal day. No alcohol sales of any kind allowed, so everyone goes to one of the dozens of liquor stores lined up at the county line to serve them.

Just posting this in here because I can't talk about it to anyone irl. At first my main fear was running out of booze but now that doesn't seem likely, I'm primarily terrified of getting this shit because even though I'm 29 and otherwise healthy (afaik) no one knows I'm an alcoholic and I'm guessing drinking every night is not gonna help your immune system much. If I stop I don't know if I'll get withdrawals. So if I get sick I either have to continue drinking which will probably drastically increase risk of death or possibly go though covid and fucking wd at the same time.

100% start to taper. First gauge how much you drink on an average night, then cut down on that by two standard drinks per day, always paying attention to any physical aspects of withdrawal (if you go too fast, you will may enter into full WD). If you stick to this schedule, you should get your drinking down to a manageable level, and your physical dependence on alcohol should be under control. An important note is to stick to beer when you are doing this; liquor/wine has too many variables unless you exactingly measure everything out. Good luck, friend

I have only been sober for 10 days in 2020. I also have an essential job. I really don’t know why I’m doing this because I showed a whole lot of restraint in the past five years. I don’t drink before work though.

Thank you for showing an interest. I appreciate you giving a shit. I really don't like to think I'm at the point when I need to taper, I've never got wd before so I don't really know if it will happen, I always assumed it was only an issue if you drank all day, but I've drank every night (~10-11pm to ~4am) for around 2 years can't be sure, maybe 18 months. You see how now I'm drunk I'm acting like it isn't an issue? Fucking idiot I am. At some point I have to face facts. Liver area was sore to touch today, not painful unless you pressed on it, just felt like a bruise. Guess maybe it's enlarged. I have fucking blue shit on my legs. I have silent reflux (waking up gagging on fucking phlegm)
Anyway regarding the taper, never really was a beer drinker, started with whiskey and rum when I was ~18 and moved to gin. remember getting a keg of Hobgoblin for my birthday a few years ago and couldn't drink it fast enough to get drunk. I *probably* drink around 500ml of 37.5% gin a night but of course I can't be precise because I',m wasted. I am trying to start measuring how much a week I drink.

If you've been drinking 500ml of liquor per night for 18+ months, I can't see how you wouldn't have some withdrawal symptoms if you suddenly stopped. That's the equivalent of over 11 standard drinks every single night. That said, beating yourself up about it isn't any good and nor will it help you cut down on your drinking. Measuring how much you drink weekly, and then daily, are good first steps to getting a handle on things. If you only drink spirits then use a jigger or shotglass to measure out proportions and to accurately log your consumption. With those baselines you can begin to curb your consumption over the course of the following weeks. Godspeed

I tapered before SHTF. And now I rarely go shopping, so I barely drink anymore. What sucks is I still can't figure out how to space out a twelve pack. I can't just have a couple a day, I drink about 8 the first night, then finish it the next. Then I'm out for the week. Which is fine. I don't need it to sleep anymore, and I'm not getting that shitty withdrawal anxiety.

So yeah. This is the least I've drunk in about 10 years. Feels pretty good, man

Been drinking much more ever since I got laid off. A lot of places nearby have been closed so I've been making journeys to a bad part of town to go to a liquor store that stays open till 11pm. Luckily I think the couple that owns the place likes me, but I've been there almost twice a week at this point so they must know it's a problem. but hey, everything is reopening about now, so I can keep up the facade of a functional human being much more convincingly.

The fact that Coronavirus happened at like the same time the FF7 remake came out ended up with me being basically drunk for a full week playing that game. I ended up ordering a 30 pack of beer and bottle of vodka every two days and kept doing that for like a week after I beat the game. I think I finally fucked up my liver cause I had an annoying dull pain in my bottom right torso. Took a month break and it felt like it was back to normal, so I drank a shitton of booze on friday night and now the discomforts back. So great, back to smoking weed erry day.
Thanks for making such a fucking good game Square.

the find the least common factor between 8 and 12 (which is 48), so get 4 twelve packs and that should last you 6 days. math

...actually the LCM is 24, so 2 twelve packs should last you 3 days. work with that formula and you can figure out how much you need in a week. so stick with the 4 twelve packs in the mean time.

My local liquor store is nice. In out, no mask "new order" signs.

Two Steel Reserve tallies. No I'm not homeless - Yet.

Maybe I should jump into that one rather than dip toes. I'm getting quite tired of the synergy between my wife and my mother.

Help me Papa Trump. Federal reserve money printer go pfrfrfrfrftffrfer tick thick ofemrgrgtgtg. And I'm fresh out of x11 refined butane. Oh wait, that's an /other/ topic rather than /hooch/

anyways cheers to slowly killing one's self. Big bad respiratory virus? Sucks for those folks with the inclination that human conscious experience actually amounts to something philosophically firm.

Heyyyyyy. My bad, I was up all night lighting candles, banging on a drum, and moving through the coils. Whilst mother and wife constantly bitch and whine and put me down.

El oh el. Have fun with the cat litter. And the dog waste. And the kitchen chores. And the bathroom tasks. And the house garbage. Hey I was up all night because I let you both get under my skin. (Hic) Eternal unconsciousness, forever nothing. Here's hoping sooner than later.>>284084
