From being a toddler; insomniac. Not prescribed sleeping pills until im 16 & get addicted. Quit that.

Weed makes me sick.

Find a few nips of alcohol works.

5 years later and an exponential tolerance later, Im about ready to kill myself. Doesnt help I work in liquor in a bad area and always see people "worse off" who are homeless and/or on the run

It's funny how you manage to play yourself as life unfolds, isn't it?
>be from Ireland
>everyone mixing energy drinks and vodka from the age of 13/14 or sharing 2l cider bottles
>i dont get into it
>become a stoner instead
>spend years stoning and blurring out
>kick weed and replace it with a few beers to taper me off the weed
>end up smoking again but still drinking too, since I'm a total novice 3 or 4 beers are sloshing me. (bypassed 300ml budweiser piss, straight into the 600ml german wheat beers.)
>pick up quite the crossfading habit to the extent where smoking weed on its own sucks balls and drinking on its own doesn't get me to where I need to go quick enough
>spend two or three years going through college cross faded as fuck, operating on my own time, sleeping into the afternoons etc
>finally kick it and shape up for about four months, lose 25lbs and feeling fitter than I have in years
>the fucking virus hits and everything starts locking down
>start drinking during the first lockdown but manage to keep a lid on it mostly
>have slowly spiralled out of control again since the autumn and winter have began to bite, have edibles, a joint, six cans of ale and a bottle of gin for tonight

Covid has probably resulted in more relapses then any other recent event i can think of. Being more or less locked in at home alone while the world starts accelerating towards collective demise makes for a kind of white knuckling that was so unbearable for me after awhile that it was either get fucked up to help cope and so i can finally start just diving headfirst into escapism, or slowly go insane. I chose my sanity over my physical health.

Here am I at 20, neet, parasite to my family , don't even have a hs diploma(like just need to do one test for it but still didn't.)
Been sober from many things, weed and tobacco , pornography , all sorts of shitty food , trying to be full straight edge sober.
Drinking is down to once a week, yesterday had a beer and 3 shoots yesterday but pooped a benzo(2mg kpin) so got mega fucked up.
Feel depresed as shit, I come from shit but I had a chance to have a good life, instead decide to isolate more and more because fuck dealing with people when you can get blasted 24/7 by yourself
Have no close friends, never had a gf , maybe could have escaped this shit through sport but all the clubs are ass so never had a proper chance.
Sorry for the retarded self pity post.Just needed to vent.I know im young but when this is the only life you ever lived it's hard to change

Started drinking liquor and four lokos at 17 because thats what you do when you're that age, started to become a daily thing because I was a drop out and a neet and the anxiety of being a loser became enough that I drank just so I didn't get anxiety. Now I'm 28, I've been drinking daily for over a decade but my anxiety is way better I haven't had a panic attack in years.

I'd like to think a break up with my 10/10 ex is what really broke me but I saw the writing on the wall 3 years before I met her.

>drinking dangerous amounts of vodka until I pass out almost every night

It's still early enough that I can turn this around before it becomes a real problem, but it's getting concerning.

I wish I could be a stoner. I never really got the taste for it that some people have. I replaced alcohol with marijuana for about two weeks last year and it was really nice, but I just have the taste for drunkenness instead for some reason. It feels easier and more natural. Getting high feels a million times healthier, though, both physically and emotionally. I want to start doing it again soon, once I manage to taper myself off the booze.

Started drinking beer at 17.
6-10 beers every night by 18.
At 20 found weed and opiates, stopped drinking except on rare occasion.
At 30 opiates became too hard to get.
Now I drink a 5th of whiskey nearly every night. I go to 5 different liquor stores b/c I'd be ashamed of showing up daily to one.

Tip: buy handles of slightly better booze. (No hangover)
Then: mark down every drink you pour with pen and ink. Like crossing off years in a prison cell.
Also: Pour liquor with water. This prevents damage to your throat and other regions, and also keeps you hydrated. The second's the most important part.

I get properly drunk every night and am hungover perhaps once every season

I started to drink at sixteen. My first drunkening was at 8, but I quit all the way to 15. I invited a couple black friends over and we cashed the better part of a half gal.The ambulance came along with police and gave me od mods. With me at 130lbs, I had 13m5 drinks, I was near alcohol poisoning. Since then,, I always had a few, My uncle would steal money with the card to buy us a couple fifteen packs about every other evening, and since we made 50k yearly, it hardly mattered. Our finances dwindled in later years. Anyways, I used to drink about 6-10 a night, while I browsed 4chan.org in my Xbox. I'd take breaks to play halo 3 and reach on live. My girl used to come over and drink 7 or so drinks and ride me too but no longer. It began in 2010 but didn't reach I ts peak until 2015. I used to polish a half gal a day in 15 nearly, by 20, no more than ten a night. I drank a moderate amount in later years, to this day. I remember having girls over with a 15 pack in the early years now I just hav we a few until I am satiated. I suspect my habit will be life long.
