Any smartfags on /hooch/ wana explain to me the difference between alcohol and benzos? I know they're both GABA drugs but booze is special somehow? I dunno I'm dumb.

Alcohol. Hits ALL the gaba making it really good for partying but shit for thereputic use
Benzos. desinged to be taken in small doses, selects certain recptors leading to a less sloppy effect . Shit for parties but great for mental bullshit and withdrawals

The only benzo I've done is etizolam. It did nothing for me except make me extremely sleepy and uncoordinated. No euphoria and barely any anxiety suppression.

depending on the benzo theres a certain time before it starts taking effect like an entire day and you have to take increasing doses overtime or some shit to get high.You just need to do a lot of research to get a proper high and its a little bit complicated to get it working. There are some benzos that immedietly take effect like zanax but they are harder to get.

I think combination of the GABAergic action and the hallucinations is actually what makes a deleriant, I could be wrong. Combines the impaired memory of benzos/alcohol with seeing/hearing things that aren't there, etc.

Yeah but what actually causes the hallucinations? Why does amanita muscaria have hallucinations and other GABAergics like alcohol don't? It looks like the main psychoactive chemicals in amanita muscaria are muscimol and ibotenic acid. Muscimol is a GABAergic, and is also a hallucinogen for some reason. Ibotenic acid is both a GABA and glutamate agonist, and an AMP agonist. It's also apparently an NMDA agonist, which is odd considering that dissociatives tend to be NMDA antagonists.

Only part of alcohol's experience profile comes from its GABA agonist properties. There's also significant NMDA antagonism (similar to what dissociative drug actions) among others. Most drugs, especially pharmaceuticals, are designed to have very specific action. By contrast, alcohol affects a wide array of different physiological processes, some of which aren't necessarily due to the drug itself but auxiliary effects on organ function, etc.
