Sitting here on this website, not drinking because I have a liver test in 3 days and I am bored as fuck. I realized a lot of things I now only enjoy when drinking. I used to enjoy movies, gaming, guitar, music, and now I don't have the same enjoyment without liquor - does anyone get this or is it just the depression of taking a night off?

And does anyone have anything in mind to fix this? I've tried weed but it doesn't agree with my head.

Give yourself more time without a drink. You could still be achieving homeostasis without alcohol. If you still feel this way after some time after sobriety maybe try something like vitamin d3. Deficiency of it can lead to depression and around this time of year is peak depression season. Just got off alcohol a while ago because of horrible decisions I have made on it. Stay strong.

Recently quit. It got easier after a week. First few days I would get frustrated trying to do anything I enjoy because I literally did ALL my recreational activities while drinking.

Yeah once I got over the initial hump I realized I could actually play stuff that needs some degree of problem solving and also remember what happened. Started RE1 remake again since stopping because I couldn't remember how I got to the point my save was at.

Dunno what your plan is regarding future drinking but if you plan to quit for a while make yourself go sober. You have to break the link. I'm only like 10 days sober but it's good being able to watch movies and fucking remember what happened for once. And yeah I was depressed the first couple days, between withdrawal fears and thinking I had fucked my body I wanted to cry like a bitch the whole time. Takes your brain a while to get back to baseline. I am less depressed now than when I was drinking, although my brain still wants booze anytime it comes into my head.

Just remembering shit is a (sadly) underrated aspect of taking a break from drinking. Also like many others I start to feel better the longer the sobriety continues. Booze is an extremely short-term solution to problems in my life. Even if it's an easy way to kill time, you're still just wasting it
