I'm talking about languages that were created with a set purpose in mind, like how Esperanto was created to make an easy to learn politically void language.

Funny anecdote:

My L1 is Spanish and I had read some LoTR in Spanish as a kid and it somehow didn’t seduce me. Some years later my English level was good enough to try to get into Tolkien and I loved every bit of it. Then I compared some things between the English original texts and my Spanish translations and confirmed how awful translations can be.

Comparing this image in particular (the Doors of Durin) in my Spanish edition –pic related–, I found that the Sindarin word “pedo” (‘speak / say!’, as in a command) in the bottom text had been changed to “podo” as a censorship move, since “pedo” means ‘fart’ in Spanish (you can even see the difference in the line’s width!), but if you read the tengwar –Elvish letters– in the Doors’ arch you’ll still get the original word.

Just to honor the truth I must say the publisher is Ediciones Minotauro and the translators are Matilde Horne, Luis Domènech and Rubén Masera.

I might suggest that your thread opener reads more like a statement into the void rather than a question or want of some kind of reply.

I was interested in http://www.ithkuil.net/ a while, but kinda gave up before learning anything cause I was not motivated enough.
