Blade Runner. The book is so much darker and desperate.

>No Longer Human by Osamu Dazai
Depressed Japanese guy feels alienated by everyone, puts on the mask of normalcy while being unable to feel anything, kills himself. The author killed himself shortly after writing it.

>anything by Hubert Selby, Jr.
Hubert Selby, Jr. is the author of Requiem for a Dream, the book the film is based on, all about people having their lives destroyed by addiction. I also recommend the film. Selby also wrote Last Exit to Brooklyn, which is actually even more dark and disturbing, all about violence and death among outcasts in New York back when it was a much rougher city.

>The People Look Like Flowers at Last by Charles Bukowski
This is my favorite thing Bukowski ever did, and it's actually beautiful. They're technically poems, but they're more like prose in poem form, very easy to read but powerful. A lot of it's about abuse.

>The Wild Boys by William S. Burroughs
This is the most fucked up book I've ever read. A dystopian sci fi with lots and lots of surreal gay rape and sex slavery.

>Sex Trafficking by Siddharth Kara
This is actually a non-fiction book by an academic, Kara is Harvard's foremost expert on human trafficking. It's the definitive book on what human trafficking looks like right now in the world, so I only recommend reading it if you're interested in that issue and have some experience reading academic works, because while it's mostly a narrative of people's experiences, there's a lot of stuff about economics and policy in it. But it's bleak af.

>Hell is a Very Small Place
I haven't actually read this one yet, but it's on my TBR. It's about the mental torture of solitary confinement in prison, and how it slowly makes you go insane. Or something like that.

Oh, sorry, I should've reread the thread title. The books by Dazai, Selby, and Burroughs are fiction.

This sci fi book Deep Shade reminds me of a doomer Hunter S Thompson, it's hard to explain but my wife and I read it in like 48 hours and recommended to everyone we know that is up on things
