that's actually pretty rad. i dig it.

being from the US I'll go ahead and drop some American folk. as it were.
i like this song.
here's the Clarence Ashley version from the '20s of Kentucky: https://youtu.be/TUBYW_Z4who
Roscoe Holcombe, also from Kentucky, coming to us from the late '50s: https://youtu.be/iX_rmoAp_fU
The Carter Family, coming out of Virginia, sometime between 1920 and '47: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNHqF_OyFkk
then the Stanley Brothers bringing us into Bluegrass, '58 I think: https://youtu.be/uxjQakmwi7o

I do like me some Roscoe Holcomb in general tho

And Ola Belle Reed is the shit too
https://youtu.be/LM4pkAwBPcs
also Hedy West, some weird little English girl from the sixties who could play like a hillbilly
https://youtu.be/rpWUDU_GEL4

i dunno if you'd call some of the older shades of blues 'folk' but I do.
son house, the man himself: https://youtu.be/NdgrQoZHnNY
sonny boy williamson II https://youtu.be/K-PhBryFuIM

I mainly listen to Irish and Scottish folk music (I am Irish). I also love Old-Time (ie American), English folk, Russian, Norwegian, Balkan and klezmer (klezmer is basically Jewish folk music from eastern Europe (from a time when Jews were a big culture in eastern Europe)). Have also dabbled in Arabic, Persian, Indian (sub-continental) and Chinese folk music.

If anyone is interested in any of these styles of folk music I will happily share; otherwise I am far too lazy to go digging up links and mp3s of tunes no one gives a shit about.

Eh, I love punk and I love folk but I don't like folk punk, the Pogues excluded. I also don't like this tendency that people have to conflate folk with folk punk.

Case in point. This is not folk music. This is punk. Let me post some actual fucking folk music.
