Maybe not a hard life-changing moment, but I feel like my taste in music has been at least subtly informed by finding this album (Archive - Londinium) when I was a teen still dipping my toes into music. Still my favourite album a decade and ~300 listens later.

When I was younger, I couldn't really appreciate music that I heard on the radio. "Hot", and Squirrel Nut Zippers in general, showed me that good music did exist. My world opened up, especially when we finally got a fucking computer.

>The Fall

"Rusty" by Rodan. Started my love affair with whisper/shout vocals.

I blame RA - Unearthly for becoming a snob. Used to explore everything under the Sun, doing my best to get into it again, but I will never be the same.

Other than that there have been some real serious albums but nothing that rocked my world to that extent. I was actually angry at it at first for making it impossible to listen to anything else. Apart from Classical Rock that everyone knows already it's worth mentioning Max Million albums as very nicely polished gems. Another delightful album Cosmic Replicant - The Nature of Life.
