I mainly listen to metal but other genres are welcome.

"Please don't insult our intelligence. Hemp is illegal cause it threatens your wealth. Dupont, Exxon and a thousand other companies would rather see you die than lose money for your health."

Now we must utilize a source. That can be grown with ease. Save our habitat and stop killing wildlife and soil by removing trees. Land is in scarce supply and hemp roots help anchor soil, which stops erosion nutrifies land while rainforest's spoil. We must put aside myths and legends based on lies. Hemp the weed of wisdom will help wipe the tear from natures eye.

System of a Down, Rage Against the Machine, and Ministry all have a lot of explicitly political lyrics about social justice, anti-facism, etc.

I always liked enter Shikari. They’re p woke. I really like a flash flood of color and anything before that, which is post hardcore/electronic. Anything beyond that has gotten too electronic for my taste. Older stuff has more heaviness. If you like angsty British guys yelling about the government this could be for you.

Here’s a more mellow track, but it’s one of my favorites:

If you're a metal head, crust punk

From Ashes Rise - Nightmares
His Hero Is Gone - Monument to thieves
Iskra - S/T
Tragedy - Vengeance

2009 really was that long ago wasn't it?

If you like any of these I got plenty more recommendations

War Pigs was Sabbath. Maiden was never very political from what I remember, Run to the Hills is probably the closest. Hollowed Be Thy Name isn't exactly political but you could definitely call it woke in some regards.

Death - 1000 Eyes

"Crossing the line into the other side
Emerging as prisoners
To the emptiness of time

To the left and to the right
From behind - they're out of sight
Plunging into a new found
Age of advanced observeillance
A worldwide, foolproof cage

Privacy and intimacy as we know it
Will be a memory
Among many to be passed down
To those who never knew

[Chorus]:
Living in the pupil of 1,000 eyes

Was it overlooked in front of all our faces?
Now, all the mistakes and secrets
Cannot be erased

Viewing the blind complexity
By which laws were justified
To erase simplicity

To the left and to the right
From behind - they're out of sight
Plunging into a new found
Age of advanced observeillance
A worldwide, foolproof cage

Privacy and intimacy as we know it
Will be a memory
Among many to be passed down
To those who never knew

[Chorus]
Living in the pupil of 1,000 eyes

We are enslaved now... "

This was 1996, mind you.

I am the one, Orgasmatron
The outstretched grasping hand
My image is of agony
My servants rape the land
Obsequious and arrogant
Clandestine and vain
Two thousands years of misery
Of torture in my name
Hypocrisy made paramount
Paranoia the law
My name is called religion
Sadistic, sacred whore

I twist the truth, I rule the world
My crown is called deceit
I am the emperor of lies
You grovel at my feet
I rob you and I slaughter you
Your downfall is my gain
And still you play the sycophant
And revel in your pain
And all my promises are lies
All my love is hate
I am the politician
And I decide your fate

I march before a martyred world
An army for the fight
I speak of great heroic days
Of victory and might
I hold a banner drenched in blood
I urge you to be brave
I lead you to your destiny
I lead you to your grave
Your bones will build my palaces
Your eyes will stud my crown
For I am Mars, the God of War
And I will cut you down

modern use of the word "woke" is so fucking dumb but here's one

>Woody Guthrie - "Jesus Christ" 1940

Jesus Christ was a man that traveled through the land
Hard working man and brave
He said to the rich, "Give your goods to the poor"
So they laid Jesus Christ in His grave
Yes, Jesus was a man, a carpenter by hand
His followers true and brave
One dirty coward called Judas Iscariot
Laid poor Jesus in His grave
He went to the preacher, He went to the sheriff
Told them all the same
"Sell all of your jewelry and give it to the poor"
So they laid Jesus Christ in His grave
When Jesus come to town, all the working folks around
Believed what he did say
The bankers and the preachers, they nailed Him on the cross
And they laid Jesus Christ in his grave
And the working people followed him around
Singing and shouting gay
But the cops and soldiers nailed him in the air
And they laid Jesus Christ in his grave
Well the people held their breath when they heard about his death
Everybody wondered why
It was the landlord and the soldiers that they hired
To nail Jesus Christ in the sky
This song was made in New York City
Of rich man and preachers, and slaves
If Jesus was to preach like He preached in Galillee
They would lay Jesus Christ in His grave

Gang of four easily are one of the most radical popular bands. Pic related is their most popular and best album musically speaking imo and directly influenced bands like Rage Against the Machine, Manic Street Preachers, and a lot of grunge bands but Solid Gold has more biting social commentary. These are my two favorites and I think define their work pretty well. The second one is almosf verbatim based on Marx's idea of capitalist alienation

No classes in the U S of A
Improve yourself! The choice is yours
Work at your job, you can make it pay
Make friends quick buy them beer
You never know when you're gonna lose them
High numbers low numbers, 8 ball break

I'm at the wheel of the company truck
On the road and all alone
Sometimes I think money is my only goal
It makes me sad

Everybody is in too many pieces
No-man's land surrounds our desires
To crack the shell we mix with others
Some lie in the arms of lovers

The city is the place to be
With no money you go crazy
I need an occupation!
You have to pay for satisfaction

We live as we dream, alone
To crack the shell we mix with the others
Some flirt with fascism
Some lie in the arms of lovers

We live as we dream, alone [Repeat: x5]

Everybody is in too many pieces
No-man's-land surrounds me!
With no money we'll all go crazy
(we apologize)

Man and woman need to work
It helps us define ourselves
We were not born in isolation
But sometimes it seems that way

We live as we dream, alone [Repeat: x5]

We live as we dream, alone
The space between our work and its product
Some fall into fatalism
As if it started this way

We live as we dream, alone [Repeat: x3]

Ten percent of the land
Is the hand that pulls the strings
Be the privileged few (to have to own to hold)
Power over the people yes yes
Power over people
Be the privileged few to have to own to hold

Money property assets before lives
Green gestures of a dying planet
An endless debate only too late
An appetite for glutony

The only way is up the only way is up
But when you are up you have to try and stay there
So you stamp and cheat on people
Champagne breakfast (rewards for the killing)
And a fast waist bulging
Indulging, in what you call good living

But most of all there is too much fat on your heart - pig
A lifestyle of cholesterol
Cross collateralized cholesterol
Saving what's left from profit margin
For what?
I'll tell you what for
For some irrelevant conscience easing charity - Why?
Just to justify! Just to justify!

Look at this utopia
A society based on solid foundations
Educate our children - educate them well
To feather the nest and fuck the rest
(Yes yes feather the nest and fuck the rest)
The waste expands
(As your waist expands)
While others stand at the back of the queue
I mean you

Still the same old security
For your creature comforts
Exchanging the hours of your life
For the cash you've already spent
Eating rubbish so you can pay the rent
Table wine once a week if you're lucky
In comparison

Privatize the people's lives
Be part of the company (or fade!)
The appliance of science to privatize their lives

Water is our business
Electricity is our business
Gas is our business
Lives are our business
Business is our business

Your money - my time
Your stinking industrial bathwater - my wine
Imbalance induces hate
How will you fill the gap
Between the endless buffet
And the scraps of food I have

I feel hate I feel hate
I feel hate I feel hate
(Don't be afraid to show your hate, hate!)

You just treat me like a commodity
You didn't know I couldn't even afford to feed my family
I just want to kill
I just want to take a gun
And put it to your head
And pull the trigger

This art punk band called Parquet Courts has some really good lyrics. Here is some snippets from the song "Total Football".

We are troubled by your soft curiosity
But delighted to be anti everything you were taught
Are you put off by our footloose fluidity?
Have your hurt caucasian feelings left you so distraught?

Only through those who stay awake can an institution be dismantled
It is dishonest, nay, a sin to stand for any anthem that attempts to drown out the roar of oppression

Swapping parts and roles is not acting but rather emancipation from expectation
Collectivism and autonomy are not mutually exclusive
Those who find discomfort in your goals of liberation will be issued no apology
And fuck Tom Brady!
