What DAW do you guys use?

I have been using Audiomulch as my main program for music creation since 2008, however I recently bought Renoise so as soon as I get this figured out I'll switch to it as my go-to DAW.

Reason. Also: It doesn't matter what daw you use. If you know it and master it, it's good enough.

You mentioned tho things that I never heard of. Anyways, the main ones are FL Studio and Ableton.

In other news, no, I don't use any DAW, but I have played around with FL Studio.

You can do that in any daw. If a tracker is your thing go ahead. Some people work better in trackers.

I use Logic Pro x but I pine over Ableton's midi routing and cc/cv options on a daily goddamn basis.

How do you like Logic Pro X?
I want to get an iMac eventually and I was considering getting that, or use Garageband + Renoise.

LMMS because I am a cheap fuck but it's good because I don't SHIT about making/producing music and I'm using it as a learning tool to see how everything works

Renoise is really fun but if I'm gonna make anything good then its Ableton.

It has good features but I feel it’s design isn’t very intuitive. It’s not a very inspiring DAW and it’s lack of linear workflow is cumbersome. I like the MIDI plugins, some of what you can do with creative gating is great,, and I appreciate that audio to MIDI is possible.

It’s biggest draw is it’s large library of plugins and effects for only 200 dollars. If I could go back with what I know now, I would originally opted for Ableton over Logic Pro. It’s more in line with what I’m doing now, musically.

I've tried a bunch. Garageband is lame. Audacity is too stripped down for anything other than quick audio ripping. Reaper is aight but the workflow sucks dick if you aren't behind it or have someone behind it. Ardour is the best for the working musician who has to record and play their instrument at the same time. Workflow is awesome and a huge amount of extreme high quality plugins already built in an working. The only bad side to Ardour is JACK on Linux.

Sadly I have to agree. It is really too difficult to do anything other than quick edits with Audacity. I use it to trim down the start/end of mixes and normalize quickly, other than that it's really not viable to do anything more complicated or precise. Gotta use Ableton for that (ie. a filter fade or volume fade)>>455372

More or less. It has some advanced features but I really prefer Ableton to do more complicated edits.

One time I sliced up a Dom & Roland track and remixed it using only the .wav file and Audacity. It was tedious as fuck and not computer-perfect in timing, but I did it just to see what it'd be like.

I used to use FL Studio a lot; now I use OpenMPT, tracker software.
