It's one wikipedia search away to know that Gothic Metal is founded in Black Sabbath's proto-Doom Metal sound with only influences and suggestions of Gothic Rock.

The band Paradise Lost invented the style, and their origins are in a genre called "Death-Doom", a direct precursor to Gothic Metal.

Goth music has a Post-Punk rhythm as its foundation, which is like a 4/4 Krautrock beat with Dub-influenced bass guitar, or straight-up arpeggiated bass.

Gothic Metal is straight-up Heavy Metal with "Dark" vibes. Totally differs from Darkwave, Coldwave, Gothic Rock, Post-Punk, etc., which is why it doesn't belong.
