Hello /med/

I'm now on a daily dose of 15 mg aripiprazole (Abilify), an atypical anti-psychotic.

My question is what drugs can I safely consume without it causing serious interactions?

Nothing but weed, I guess, aripiprazole cuts all the fun.

I would avoid stimulants entirely, aside from maybe limited caffeine. Most antipsychotics suppress dopamine hard enough to render [dopaminergic] stimulants effectively inert. Abilify is wonky in that there are a few dopamine receptor subtypes where it is actually a partial agonist. So it would be quite easy to overload these particular receptors chasing a high that is being actively blocked everywhere else. Could also mess with BP due to adrenergic issues.

Psychedelics will be quite diluted due to a variety of serotonin receptors being antagonized by a competing molecule (which may also physically block by crowding out space at the receptor site itself). LSD and shrooms probably wouldn't be dangerous, per se, but significantly less enjoyable/downright unpleasant are both likely outcomes. Combining with weed may improve results somewhat. Avoid 2C-X, NBOME, DOX, and the like (reasons similar to the first paragraph).

-Abilify is potentiated by grapefruit juice; anything else that is potentiated by grapefruit juice shares a liver enzyme in its metabolism and thus may also cross-potentiate with aripiprazole through this mechanism.

-Nitrous might be something to consider, though I would not really recommend most other dissociatives (if you're gonna do it, stick with ketamine, lowball it, and DON"T take it so the active effects coincide with when your Abilify dose is taken/"kicks in"). Salvia would probably not be dangerous but may be rather unpleasant.

-MDMA [and similar] as well as DXM should be avoided as they interact with Abilify in too many ways to list.

-Taking deliriants in combination with Abilify, speaking from personal experience, asymptotically approaches literal hell on earth.

So that basically leaves weed, tobacco, GABAergics [such as alcohol, benzos, and the like]*, opiods*, possible low-dose LSD/psilocybin, and nitrous as your general options. Do note the downers may cross-potentiate with Abilify resulting in higher blood levels of both than expected.

Disclaimer: I based these recommendations mainly on the pharmacology of Abilify, not really considering whatever condition you're dealing with to have been prescribed it in the first place, so be careful. Hope you see better times - hang in there.

I've done weed and heroin on top of Seroquel, but I don't know how much that would translate to Abilify.

I think I might have also done heroin on top of Abilify a while ago.

So, after 2 days on SSRI's, Cipralex I've been having -insane- tinnitus. It feels like I'm going crazy, it's completely unbearable!

Stopping medication today, since it's only been two days. Does anyone of you think it'll disappear? Been reading people saying they've been having it forever since. But... Like, it's only been two days. It can't last forever right?...Riiight?

Hope it stops. I have had this for very brief periods of time in a span of maybe acouple of weeks, minor moreso for longer. If it ends great, some people deal with this for basically their entire life. Many have found drugs that actually work, if this persists. I assume it would go away in a short while on it's own.

Antidepressants, soo many stories. I like remeron, seems kind, establishes its-self in ones routine quickly, like days. Many antidepressants take weeks
to even know if is is actuallly doing anything beneficial, by then one has been taking it soo long that discontinuance can be a real issue.

Anyway good luck.

hi, very occasionally (usually when sleep deprived) i get what I called 'brain zaps'. I want to know if I'm going to die.
They usually feel like a wave across my brain, and they're accompanied by the sound of a roar with doppler effect and it feels like i lose muscle/mind control, then come back - its very quick.
epilepsy runs in my family, I had a couple seizures as a child but wasn't diagnosed, could this be related? ill be fine ignoring it, right? its happened occasionally (5-6 times a year)

Not a great feeling for sure. I liken it to what it wouldfeel like before a seizure. People who use benzos heavilly and suddenly withdrawal some get these zaps. Some people experience this with no apparent cause. Some alongside medication and or other health sissies.

Usually medication, Some medication is known for brain zaps, antidepressants usually, sudden or rapid discontinuance for some will experience these and known documentation of adverse reactions to these can happen even if taken as directed.

I kinda likeb these to night terrors. Where temporary conscious ability of movement and thought is disturbed momentarily. Could be a medical condition. if using drugs like speed, would be a good idea to take that out of the program permanently. If on prescribed medication maybe let a doctor know about these, as said some medications adverse side effects may cause as laymans terms call these brain zaps, there is a medical term, but any doctor would know and by your description what it may feel like. Brain zaps may feel like connections are being crossed, misdirected. I would say to do with the nervous system.

Maybe discuss with a doctor, and what options there are if these become frequent enough in the future that it interferes with sleep quality. Don't really ignore it, just keep it in mind.

There are many ongoing sleep studies, maybe google around and surely some focus on these issues.

Scraping your knee would be pretty much irrelevant. I have taken ibuprofen for many cuts while on SSRIs and while yes, you will bleed noticeably longer, it isn't drastic. It's a relative contraindication at most, a couple doctors who have treated me were completely unaware of it.

I currently take care of my disabled sister, as when I was old enough I decided my parents were too lackluster about it. I work and we share an apt. We currently live in a rural area and suffer familial problems and I've been scraping up cash. I want to move to a state that has better health services and a city so she has a chance for more Independence. She has Disability income, food stamps and home health services at the moment. I wouldn't able to properly support her w/o her EBT and Aide at home as I work and money might be too tight. What route do I go about to get her services As quick and smoothly as possible before leaving?

Depends on the level of vitamins/omega fatty acids vs PCBs, heavy metals, and other toxins which may have bioaccumulated in the fish. These are subject to the type of fish, individual variation between specimens, as well as the manufacturing process used to extract and purify the oil.

One could theoretically acquire hypervitaminosis A from too much cod liver oil or other similarly rich sources (alongside a presumably rather nasty case of indigestion). And of course, if one has an allergy to fish/shellfish then use of the respective oil would be highly contraindicated.

That being said, it's still probably better for you than it is for the fish.

Heavy weed use causing problems.

So every morning I wake up at 2 or 3 in the morning, dehydrated and covered in sweat, and have to take a piss. Every hour or so after that I have to get up again and take another piss. I'm probably only getting 4 hours of sleep per night. Also likely related, my sex drive is also completely gone and my social avoidance has also gotten worse.

This problem developed while I was using weed every day very heavily, but I've been off the weed for a few days now and it hasn't gotten any better. I've read that weed can affect the hypothalamus and affect endocrine function which seems like it could be the issue I'm having since one of the causes of nocturia is a decrease in arginine vasopressin at night and AVP is produced by the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus also releases LH and FSH which affect testosterone production. Chronic weed use has been shown to alter testicular function and reduce testosterone levels. The HPTA axis has also been linked to social behavior including attachment, so if my HPTA axis is being suppressed it would make sense that my social avoidance is getting worse.

My questions are does this sound like a reasonable explanation for my symptoms, and other than stopping the weed, is there anything I can do to restore my brain and body to the way it's supposed to be? I've been considering using clomid which is a selective estrogen receptor modifier which acts on estrogen receptors in the hypothalamus leading to the upregulation of the HPTA axis. Any input would be useful.

You're not in any rush, from what I can gather, despite being uncomfortable about your situation. Try quitting cannabis, and waiting at least a month to see if there is any alleviation of your problems, before potentially compounding it by meddling with your endocrine balance.

Since you seem to have done your research, I assume you're aware that nocturia, diaphoresis and dehydration are all symptoms of diabetes? It seems to me this is a more likely an explanation than a rare endocrine complication from cannabis use.

Sooooooo. turns out my wife and i have a hard time conceiving because of rH factors (A+ male, O- female). does that mean i get to raw dog her willy nilly, or are there worse consequences, like frequent ectopic pregnancy or lots of miscarriages? we didn't really want kids anyway, as we both teach, we just want to know if we have a green light for the nasty stuff.

I've ODed on propranolol before, actually. Obviously it wasn't lethal because I'm still here, but I took a dose in the lethal range.

What it was like: your heart slows down and your blood pressure drops, you end up writhing on the floor with your stomach churning, you feel extremely weak and exhausted and gross, you hallucinate some mildly scary shit, you (probably) wonder if you're going to die and have a few regrets, you pass out/fall asleep. I wouldn't say it was painful (especially compared to other stuff I have ODed on) but it was not pleasant, that's for sure. I highly suggest you don't, and that you run through options other than attempting suicide.

So I just got the first part of a root canal done yesterday and the dentist filled up my canals with some medicine, gave me a temporary filling and told me to come back in two weeks. Problem is that the fucking temporary filling has chipped already. I think it was a little bit too big for my mouth or something because I started to notice a crack forming yesterday when it looked in the mirror. And then when I woke up this morning, a little bit had chipped off.

The chip isn't so bad though. Just looking at it, it seems like none of the inside of my tooth is actually exposed. I think the temp filling was just a little too large for my bite, so maybe it was only natural that this little bit should break off? I don't know. Should I bother making another dentist's appointment for monday? Will he just look at it and tell me to fuck off when he sees that inside isn't exposed?

Antihistamines

Hopefully this is an appropriate enough place to ask about this.

I've been caught up in daily heroin use, which I know is bad, etc., etc., but the thing which is giving me problems at this point is the diphenhydramine which I've been using to counter the histamine release.

I get the itch badly enough that I often end up just not being able to stop myself from taking several hundred milligrams of DPH every night. And because I'm taking such a large quantity of it on the regular, I've been having significant problems with urinary retention. I've been looking into cetirizine as something with slightly fewer side effects, but I checked and it looks like that can cause urinary retention too.

Does anyone here know of any way to counter a strong histamine release without any risk of urinary retention? I was thinking that topical DPH or hydrocortisone might work, but it's a pain in the ass to have to rub cream over your entire body, so something oral would be preferred.

If you do over say 30 mgs pf dph, more will not help. It is not a bad drug in essence, bit say taking 300 mgs, it is not a good scene. If two 15? mgs pills do not work, pursuing more would not help.

Understand this, it is a nasty drug over 150 200 mgs.

I never had reaction so don't know. But if two 30 mgs do not work, more will not help, rather make things more complicated.

I do have a concrete solution, I think, draw a bath with Epsom Salts, as directions, get you hit. Before during or after. It should work. Don't get too high and drown.

Just somebody freaking do it. Benadryl doe not really work.

Keep diph amounts to 75 mgs or less. though. more is not better. Never was.

As much as I hate to discourage the use of DPH, you should really switch to something like cetirizine or loratadine to counter the itch if you don't enjoy the body load.

I will never understand why somebody keeps doing opis when they get the itchies that bad. I'd rather suffer lots of tiny cuts or cigarette burns than put up with that. If the high itself causes the acute phase to suck that badly why bother even keep doing it?

Hey what's up

The last 2 days I've been having a dull ache in my lower right abdomen, was wondering if any of you could shed some light? It's pretty dull, might go away for a few hours and then come back. When I inhale it is sometimes there. or when I move a certain way, I must stress that it's very slight, but noticable. I've been pretty unhealthy the last 2 months, not eating right but I'll fix that starting today.

So any opinions ?

Pic related is the area, I must stress that it is a dull ache.

Heart Attack, Panic Attack, Bradycardia, Alcohol Poisoning?

Last night I drank to much, while probably consuming my normal amount of BHO. I had a rule of thumb that was no alcoholic beverages above 8%~ ABV, as I can't control myself around them(had gotten up to a half handle last year). I had gotten myself down to a beer or two a night of your typical 5%~ ABV. Then I spotted a six pack of Steel Reserve 8% pints. Downed four and a half of those by noon.
Eventually I felt the normally, bleh sickness of over drinking, and rather than just fading into a blackout it turned into a sense of impending doom. Similar to when I tried DPH as a kid, but the immense feeling wasn't just mental. My heart was slowing down, I was forcing myself to try and breath faster than my heart. A few times it felt like the beat skipped for several seconds and had to starting thumping on my chest, forcing myself to breath, belch, anything. Eventually it would make a big, exaggerated thump. Maybe really not that long, had nothing to time it on nor the ability to focus, but it felt like an absurdly long time.
I've experienced tachycardia from BHO in the past, and that's something that's easy to calm yourself out of, but this was something much more terrifying. I thought I was going to die.
Took almost an hour of forcing myself to vomit till I got the drunkenness down to a reasonable level. Then the rest of the day just trying to get myself unshaken, and breathing at a normal level.
Was it just alcohol poisoning? Was it possibly more than that? Should I see a doctor, and what should I talk about?

I know I've been hard on my heart the past couple or so years. Think I'm quitting drinking, and all cannabis concentrates. I've got it all in the trash. It was to much, my chest still feels sore.

Naw, stuff is strong. Even dangerous. We used wood putty for

hear burns don't it. Don't worry, it will stop, or try to wash it but that does
basically nothing.
