The Expanse - does it get better? by Merchen Dice - Tue, 17 Jan 2017 17:57:26 EST ID:o0zecp+J No.377983 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

I love SciFi-Series!
Watched Star Trek
(especially DS9 and Voyager!)
and BSG and loved them!

Now I am 4 Episodes in "the Expanse" and I can't put my finger into it.
Somethings feels so off about this Series.
The acting is somehow half-hearted
and I just don't care about any of these characters.

Did they a shitty job in introducing the characters?
Is the story just shitty?
Or is the focus just all over the place?

I don't know.
It just won't click!

Most people say ep 4 is where they get hooked, so if you're still bored, just bail.

I love the books but found the show boring.

This is seriously the best comic book show on TV right now. Daredevil and Flash had weak second seasons, but this gets better and better. A perfect balance of serious and campy.

New episode tonight!

I really don't understand Fox's scheduling of their shows this season and it's such a momentum killer. It's hard for networks when they have to deal with sports and election coverage pre-empting shit. Fox needs to find more midseason replacements to air in January besides The Mick instead of just making people wait another month or two.

Uh, pretty sure you can't do that many drugs and see death that much without turning into a sociopath.

Also I chose that picture cause I knew it'd piss people off. Actually in the show other characters tease Sherlock for being an angsty edgelord. It's self-aware, even if the shitty tumblr fanbase isn't.

Episode 2 was actually good. For a change. Do wonder where it goes next.
But the show isn't really my cup of tea but I can spend a few hours a year on something mildly entertaining.

him fighting and winning a fight against a trained elite killer was my dealbreaker( ok and many other things) on this being a recommendation if someone asks for a good detective stuff.

>I'm pretty done with caring about Moffat shit.
Lol somebody didn't lose interest the new Doctor Who fast enough.

At least the second episode is on par with the previous series.

The thing is, Sherlock became serialized in the novels as well, and it comes with the characters already being pretty developed and just getting on with it.

This Sherlock plateau isn't so much the fault of the series as it is inherent in the source material.

i don't remember a goddamn thing about what happened in Ep. 1. Ep. 2 is the shit though.

What you think, is it something new or a new season for Futurama?

Brooks stoped being involved with the Simpsons about 10 years ago, dude is 76.
Groening created the art, characters and style with the humor, he lost interest and got bored with the simpsons, so he made Futurama, and by looking some articles I can say that Groening loved working on Futurama more then on the Simpsons.
The show was a pure gold, the episodes were expensive and needed high budget to produce, that's why Comedy Central didn't renewed the series after 50-52 series of 2 seasons. For same reason they cancelled Drawn Togather cause they prefer a low budget things that cost less to produce.

it was decent. I went into it knowing nothing about it, and was . As far as melodramas go, it was good. It's a moody slow burn following a youth growing up poor and discovering(?) his homosexuality. Despite that general description, i feel it's enough to summarize the plot. But i'm happy it ended on a relatively sweet note.

Is it me, or was there really not one outstanding anime last season? And I don't really seem to find one this season either. I'm not trying to hate, but usually I can spot the good ones like one punch man, mob psycho, space dandy, kill la kill (kind of a guilty pleasure, but still) just from the ravings in this thread. But now I get the impression everything is kind of mediocre, or little girls or 'slice of life' which I'm just not really into.

I'm just kind of craving an anime, so any recommendations are welcome. Others I've really liked where flkl, musishi, cowboy bebop, samorai shamploo, kemonozume, gurren lagan, trigun, black lagoon... Most of those are the usual popular ones, but I'd also welcome anything more obscure.

After a surprisingly good season earlier this year, American Dad! makes its return as Stan Smith leads his all-American family. Everyday life is taken to the limit as Stan applies the same drastic measures used in his job at the CIA to his home life. Driven by machismo and the American dream, he often is blind to how horribly he fails at his attempts.

The season premieres tonight at 8:30pm EST on TBS

I liked Francine and Santa having different preferred translations. Stan was all "I've never even seen you open a magazine!"

This ep had a lot of funny jokes, just silly stuff occurring. Like the parents whose kids vanished wearing a Proud Parent shirt while singing a parody of TLCs No Scrubs about having No Kids. And Roger's Grindr drama, "I'm with my family here, this is a serious breach".
I wish we got some side plot about Jeff alone in vacation goo.

Any movies you're looking forward to this year?

Looks like it's the year cyberpunk and space operas are back, with Ghost in the Shell, Blade Runner 2, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, Guardians 2, and another Star War all releasing this year. Think I'm most looking forward to Song to Song, Valerian, and Guardians.

Song to Song is Terrence Malick's new flick about love and musicians in Austin, TX. doesn't sound as interesting as his other movies but it's still Malick and the cast is great so I'll be trying to catch this in theaters.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets just looks epic and fun. definitely one to see on drugs.

Is it like "Vaya Con Dios"...or like "Baskets" but with Roman Catholics?

The premiere wasn't bad though I think it moved kinda slow but the set and costume design is really spot on. Paolo Sorrentino has a good eye for direction and camera placement too.

The show sort of operates as a subversive satire of what would happen if there was a young American Pope that set himself apart from the Church's past especially in that dream sequence at the beginning. Jude Law is a good choice for the lead and HBO has had some great limited series so I'll be watching this.

Just got through with the first two episodes. I really don't see it holding my interest much longer but i'll see where this goes after seeing his first public address.
