Post shit.

Here's a ton of production featurettes, really the best part of any Star Wars.

https://www.youtube.com/user/mranderson00001/playlists

also:

How are they going to handle episode 8 now that Carrie Fisher is dead?

and

Is it still possible to be a genuine low key star wars die hard post Disney acquisition or has Star Wars finally become a full normie property that any true nerd worth their salt should steer clear of?

I'm pretty sure I can count the number of big explosions in any given Original Trilogy movie with my hands

This post just proves you either never watched Star Wars or are the kind of guy who only pays attention when things go boom.

just finished Moonlight.
Judging by the description I was expecting it to be a bit oscar bait-ish but was very pleasantly surprised, I liked it a lot. Definitely the best looking movie i've seen from 2016 besides Neon Demon and I loved the soundtrack. I almost feel drained after watching it, very heavy movie

SIX WEEKS! How is there no thread for this?
If you want to talk about Old Man Logan, PLEASE make it clear that your spoilers are for the comics.

Final trailer (of only 2, which is perfect IMO) dropped - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RH3OxVFvTeg
Much more focused on Laura / X-23 than the 'Hurt' trailer, some new action sequences, but still not showing too much for me. Most of what we see between the first two trailers seems to come from the scene of the Reavers tracking them down to the dilapidated building to get Laura, so I'm good with that. And if you're wondering what's with the scene about a minute into the trailer, yes, she does walk out with the dude's severed head in her hands, even though the trailer just shows her dropping the handcuffs.

Speculation:
After seeing how Laura behaves in this new trailer, I'd bet a stack of cash that a focus of the movie is Logan coming to terms with the blind rage that's been driving him for so long, and trying to save her from going down the same path he took. And I don't know about you guys, but I'm going to cry like a bitch at the 'family around the dinner table' scene, and Xavier's likely demise.

It's actually being premiered at the Berlin Film Festival, so whoever makes these decisions must think it's going to be something much more than any superhero movie we've seen before, and according to those who've seen the first act, it's even better than anyone is expecting.

I think it deserves its own thread instead of being forced to mingle with the rest of the Superhero jank in the general thread, but if not, you know what to do, Chiggy.

And if you need CGI to complete a scene, or a scene is soooo dangerous that it risks a human life (an important one, like the lead actors, rite?)...maybe. don't. do. the. scene.
Or just make the whole film animated. This whole melding of unreal and real in such a way as to make the two as indistinguishable as possible is retarded. Who Killed Roger Rabbit is an example of the real and the unreal meeting in harmony. Another example of it done correctly is Enter the Void, I didn't even care for the film but the imagery and CG was done correctly.

I know it wouldn't be an easy task. That's my problem with this whole series, you either go big or you go home. I assure you there is indeed an alternative timeline where Gareth Evans (The Raid) is directing an X-Force series and killing it! There are capable directors out there today that I believe could bring it to life... just not these guys. Both Captain America 2 and Deadpool had really solid action and fight choreography, the Xmen guys are well below the standard for action scenes in comic book adaptations now. (or "Capeshit")

>Isn't that the point?
I'm referring to the source material. This is the cover for a comic in the arc "The Wolverine" was based off. In the movie he get's taken out by maybe 4-5 ninjas. Someone else posted a similar image. These two are surrounded by corpses by the time their done. The healing factor is also a lost oppurtunity. It's one thing to have our hero covered in blood sweat and tears by the end of the movie but you could really take it to the next level with one of these two. I dream of a "Oldboy Hallway Scene" with real time healing. Like I say go big or go home, I think someday somebody is going to go big.

Also RE is a fucking shitshow. It's the worst example of this sort of shit since that twilight zone episode with helicopter crash. It's a rarity and not common. Angelina Jolie and Running Tom can't wait to tell you how they did all their own stunts.

Or maybe use CGI to complete the scene because the technology has progressed to the point where no one apart from nitpicky dorks even notice or care.

So much dumbassery in one statement. Especially considering we're talking about SUPERHERO movies.

Saw the first episode last night and maybe I was just high of my tits and in the right mood but it was pretty great. I just love when the protagonist is a ... well, bastard could be the right word. Doesn't give a shit you know.
And we know that Hardy is superb in those roles, cold and calculated.

It's fine, it's not for everyone. I find the show is delightful and charming despite its depressing trappings. Zach plays a great clown and there is SO much great physical comedy in this show and that's just something you don't get very often these days.

The premiere wasn't bad though I think it moved kinda slow but the set and costume design is really spot on. Paolo Sorrentino has a good eye for direction and camera placement too.

The show sort of operates as a subversive satire of what would happen if there was a young American Pope that set himself apart from the Church's past especially in that dream sequence at the beginning. Jude Law is a good choice for the lead and HBO has had some great limited series so I'll be watching this.

Just watched episode 2. Lenny is really starting to cultivate a cult of personality around being Pope and his conservative views. That scene where he was comparing himself to Banksy, Daft Punk, Salinger and Kubrick of not being seen was well done. And I'm interested to see what comes from how he was elected Pope and his involvement with Cardinal Spencer not becoming Pope instead. Lenny really does look up to him and you can tell after Spencer rejected helping him how his behavior changed and by his public address.

Will watch 3 and 4 tomorrow and Tuesday but Jude Law is putting on a great performance. He also gets to use his good American accent.

Mickey (Kaitlin Olson) is a brash, two-bit hustler from Rhode Island who has spent her entire life shirking any semblance of responsibility. Lacking any drive, but in constant search of the next easy payday, Mickey is not without her charms. She’s smart, she’s fun, and despite all appearances, her head’s always in the game. She just needs a big win. That win kinda, sorta comes true when, looking for a handout, Mickey visits her estranged sister and billionaire brother-in-law in Greenwich, CT, but gets more than she bargained for, as this absurdly rich couple flees the country to escape federal fraud charges.

In a surprising turn of events, Mickey must assume guardianship of their three high-maintenance and ill-parented children: Sabrina (Sofia Black D’Elia), an ambitious, 18-going-on-30-year-old who is a worthy adversary to Mickey; Chip (Thomas Barbusca), 13, an arrogant, entitled neo-con-in-the-making with an extremely punchable face; and Ben (newcomer Jack Stanton), seven, an adorably fragile nerd. The life that Mickey has wanted for so long now is within her reach – the mansion, the convertible, the swimming pool, the walk-in closet full of designer clothes. But as Mickey is well aware, nothing in life is free. The price? Transforming these outrageously spoiled children into honest, hard-working, decent members of society – something this foul-mouthed, debaucherous and completely out-of-her-element woman knows absolutely nothing about.

The series premieres January 1 at 8pm EST with new episodes subsequently airing on Tuesdays at 8:30pm EST.

I was expecting a cringy forced sitcom too, but it actually works well and is pretty funny. still very sticomy, but not in the Old Lady House kinda way ya know? and her character here is definitely similar to Dee, but different enough that I don't find myself comparing them. I feel like if this were Dee she'd have sent the kids off to boarding school then burned down the mansion for the insurance money, not realizing that she doesn't own the house and wouldn't get any of it, causing her to book it back to the bar in one of those awesome cars. which would of course be immediately destroyed by the gang.

This year had a lot of great new shows come out as well as new seasons of pre-existing shows. What's your pick for best show this year that you enjoyed? Since there's a lot more shows than there are movies, you can also break it down into categories and top 5/10 lists as we've done in previous years.

Last Kingdom was this year? Feels like years ago now.

Anyways, 2016 was the year Shameless aired two seasons, 24 episodes, so that was my highlight. TV is sad without Breaking Bad and Mad Men, and Shameless is the only show I care about on the level I used to love those two. If Shameless ends, TV will be a barren wasteland of semi-decent shows but no pure gold.

I struggled to get through The Greasy Strangler because it was so intentionally gross the whole time.

I'm about to watch Mob Psycho 100. What should I expect compared to One Punch Man?

Also, going to get caught up on Ushio & Tora and Jojo.

I'm almost finished Jojo part 4, I found it underwhelming compared to part 3 at first but then things kept escalating and its been incredible.

Right now I'm just baked and binge watching Inuyasha on Netflix. I loved this shit when I was 12, I still enjoy it even though its super tropey and trashy. It's about sephiroth and his arch nemesis evil brother prettier sephiroth.

Movies or tv shows you've disliked from 2016. For me it was the OA. Fuck their "So you think you can dance" bullshit into an afterlife.

I watched a couple episodes of iZombie and that show about the blonde girl. Was that the OA? I only watched the both of them for the blonde leads because they are cute. The izombie girl is kinda showing her age though which sucks. I can't recall anything about either show though

This season of South Park also sucked because they blew their load WAY too early with so much build up.

I don't watch much TV.

South Park had a disappointing season though the election really did change what Matt and Trey probably had planned out.

Yeah, it was revealed somewhere that Trey had assumed Clinton would win and created the episode with that in mind, however since the election was the day before showing and Trump ended up winning they had to throw out the old and churn out an ep in less than 24 hours. I still enjoyed the season though.

Is this some subtle pedophile joke or do you really think a 28 year old "shows age".
