Mickey (Kaitlin Olson) is a brash, two-bit hustler from Rhode Island who has spent her entire life shirking any semblance of responsibility. Lacking any drive, but in constant search of the next easy payday, Mickey is not without her charms. She’s smart, she’s fun, and despite all appearances, her head’s always in the game. She just needs a big win. That win kinda, sorta comes true when, looking for a handout, Mickey visits her estranged sister and billionaire brother-in-law in Greenwich, CT, but gets more than she bargained for, as this absurdly rich couple flees the country to escape federal fraud charges.

In a surprising turn of events, Mickey must assume guardianship of their three high-maintenance and ill-parented children: Sabrina (Sofia Black D’Elia), an ambitious, 18-going-on-30-year-old who is a worthy adversary to Mickey; Chip (Thomas Barbusca), 13, an arrogant, entitled neo-con-in-the-making with an extremely punchable face; and Ben (newcomer Jack Stanton), seven, an adorably fragile nerd. The life that Mickey has wanted for so long now is within her reach – the mansion, the convertible, the swimming pool, the walk-in closet full of designer clothes. But as Mickey is well aware, nothing in life is free. The price? Transforming these outrageously spoiled children into honest, hard-working, decent members of society – something this foul-mouthed, debaucherous and completely out-of-her-element woman knows absolutely nothing about.

The series premieres January 1 at 8pm EST with new episodes subsequently airing on Tuesdays at 8:30pm EST.

Fox already scheduled it after how well The Mick did in its series premiere:

>Fox scheduled the special January 15 airing for The Mick hours after the Live+3 ratings for the series’ debut were released, with the comedy getting a modest +25% bump to rise to a solid 3.5 rating in adults 18-49. Boosted by NFL, The Mick‘s opener (2.8 18-49 rating in Live+same day) tied NBC’s breakout drama This Is Us as the highest-rated L+SD new series premiere this season. In Live+3, The Mick ranks as the No. 2 comedy series behind the first episode of NBC’s The Good Place (3.6) or No. 1 if the first and second episode of The Good Place, which aired back-to-back, are considered one hourlong episode. Overall, The Mick is third or fourth among all new series in the demo (L+3). It is Fox’s higher rated live-action comedy series premiere since the debut of the network’s flagship half-hour series New Girl in 2011.

>Despite a significant drop in The Mick‘s move to its regular Tuesdays 8:30-9 PM slot, the newbie Mick (1.3 in L+sd) was the highest rated Fox series on the night and boosted lead-in New Girl to its highest rating since the season premiere. Encouraged by the first two airings of The Mick, the executives at Fox, which has struggled to launch a new comedy series with broad appeal for the past several years, are getting firmly behind the new series, looking to keep the momentum with the stunt airing behind The Simpsons.

I was just thinking the other day how bad the movie year ws. I never write years off till the end because in December, all the really good stuff drops on DVD screeners for Oscar season. This December was pitiful for film, it's like they saw Star Wars on the release schedule and gave up making movies.

I almost turned The Greasy Strangler off within the first 5 minutes of the film it was so off-putting. I didn't though, and while I'm still getting my head around it I don't regret watching it at all.

I loved The Witch, but my favourite of the year was easily Swiss Army Man.

From the movies i've seen, 2016 hasn't been amazing in movies.
With that said, I'm going to second Hunt for the Wilderpeople. Just a straight up quirky, funny movie with like-able characters. Also, please watch this movie without reading the plot beforehand.

Chip Baskets (Zach Galifianakis) wants to follow his dream of being a French clown—however, reality keeps interfering. Saddled with financial difficulties and facing an impenetrable language barrier, he moves back home to Bakersfield with high hopes. There, he is forced to confront his past while working as a rodeo clown and competing with his siblings for his mother's approval and affection.

The season premieres at 10pm EST on FX

I dislike the majority of things people recommend to me, OP, so every year is a bad year for me. At least, it's been that way since LOST came out. Then Game of Thrones. Then Walking Dead.

I just have no interest in anything that's about normal people getting stuck in rough situations where they think like a stupid old average person and make generally dumb decisions that often seem to miraculously just work out. I'm just into that cerebral shit. Like I just watched Belly and Mortdecia and Dog Eat Dog and those were way more up my fuckin alley.

I watched a couple episodes of iZombie and that show about the blonde girl. Was that the OA? I only watched the both of them for the blonde leads because they are cute. The izombie girl is kinda showing her age though which sucks. I can't recall anything about either show though

This season of South Park also sucked because they blew their load WAY too early with so much build up.

I love SciFi-Series!
Watched Star Trek
(especially DS9 and Voyager!)
and BSG and loved them!

Now I am 4 Episodes in "the Expanse" and I can't put my finger into it.
Somethings feels so off about this Series.
The acting is somehow half-hearted
and I just don't care about any of these characters.

Did they a shitty job in introducing the characters?
Is the story just shitty?
Or is the focus just all over the place?

I don't know.
It just won't click!

I've loved a good number of anime ranging in a number of styles and levels of stupidity (Mushishi, Cowboy Bebop, Modoka, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Baccano, Dragonball, Mobile Suit Gundam, Case Closed and others) and I absolutely cannot see the appeal of JoJo. It gives me Naruto vibes, but most people brutally shit on that show, yet Jojo is touted as some masterpiece.

I simply don't get it. It's got awesome colors, but the action is confused and the characters are stupid and uninteresting imo. I guess people like it for its humor? Somebody explain please. I am no stranger to the absurd, but I just haven't seen anything more clever than Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo "randomness"

SIX WEEKS! How is there no thread for this?
If you want to talk about Old Man Logan, PLEASE make it clear that your spoilers are for the comics.

Final trailer (of only 2, which is perfect IMO) dropped - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RH3OxVFvTeg
Much more focused on Laura / X-23 than the 'Hurt' trailer, some new action sequences, but still not showing too much for me. Most of what we see between the first two trailers seems to come from the scene of the Reavers tracking them down to the dilapidated building to get Laura, so I'm good with that. And if you're wondering what's with the scene about a minute into the trailer, yes, she does walk out with the dude's severed head in her hands, even though the trailer just shows her dropping the handcuffs.

Speculation:
After seeing how Laura behaves in this new trailer, I'd bet a stack of cash that a focus of the movie is Logan coming to terms with the blind rage that's been driving him for so long, and trying to save her from going down the same path he took. And I don't know about you guys, but I'm going to cry like a bitch at the 'family around the dinner table' scene, and Xavier's likely demise.

It's actually being premiered at the Berlin Film Festival, so whoever makes these decisions must think it's going to be something much more than any superhero movie we've seen before, and according to those who've seen the first act, it's even better than anyone is expecting.

I think it deserves its own thread instead of being forced to mingle with the rest of the Superhero jank in the general thread, but if not, you know what to do, Chiggy.

This. It's gay af when movies nerf violence for a wider audience. They're not even technically movies. They're amusement rides. Movies are made as a form of expression, not a form of money making. These pieces of shit/trash hollywood has been giving us are not movies. Real movies will come back, but it will be another half decade at least, and 3 decades at MOST. But we will get movies that have a personality and an uncompromising direction one day again. By trying to please everybody you please nobody. Studuios will realize this and will instead of pumping billions of dollars into bullshit garbage films they will diversify with niche films catered to a specific audience. Wolverine with ultra violence, and wolverine with sissy violence, both will be made an accessible in the future of film.

Easy, just shoot a stunt double doing this.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=x9ZRjIiNzhM
Ip Man is a great film btw and I recommend it. Even the sequel is good. The rest, they're good enough.

The thing about American superhero movies is they're hiring ACTORS and then working with what they have physically. Padding with CG and stunt doubles when they can. In asian action films they've always hired for physical ability first, acting ability was secondary. I firmly believe if a movie is being made to have physicality in it, then it needs to employ people who are best able to do that, not have some fake pretty face pretend and makebelieve so lamely and poorly it creates bland, boring, repetitive fight scenes and choreography. None of it is impressive, because none of it appears real.

>The Hunt (Danish: Jagten) is a 2012 Danish drama film directed by Thomas Vinterberg and starring Mads Mikkelsen. The story is set in a small Danish village around Christmas, and follows a man who becomes the target of mass hysteria after being wrongly accused of sexually abusing a child in his kindergarten class.

Just watched this film. Some disturbing moments, and an uncomfortable rising tension throughout with a mixed-feeling ending. I was expecting more of an action film and blundered into a pretty intense dramatic film. I guess it was pretty good for what it was, don't know if I'd recommend it. Honestly what kept me interested at many points was the glimpse at daily life in Denmark which I know nothing about. Anyone else have an opinion?

The movie reminded me somewhat of Festen, but maybe it's just because it's also Danish. It's a pretty awesome mix of tragedy and comedy, a lot less dark than Jagten. I would advise you to go in without reading any descriptions or watching trailers, that definitely made the experience better for me. One fair warning though: it's Dogme 95, so if you're some sort of HD junky this might not be for you.

I recently watched that movie where captain picard has to deal with his disaffected crew and now I am watching the fight club 2: electric boogaloo series.

Some pretty good episodes and storylines leading up to the season finale with the Unity Concert, Leslie's pregnancy and Tom trying to open his restaurant. Also Craig is a pretty obnoxious character tbh.

>This Is Us s01e12 - The Big Day

Sure this episode was basically a prequel to the first episode but I thought it helped lend a bit of backstory to what happened before the first episode like the struggles Dr. K was going through after losing his wife and Jack and Rebecca dealing with the pregnancy. In all I thought it was really good.

Showtime is finally allowing it's subscribers to watch S1+2 of Twin Peaks. So I'm about to binge some tonight.

Watched some Ricky Gervais Show this morning. It's really annoying that it's not available on HBO Go/Now. Same with Tales from the Crypt.

>Parks and Recreation s06e21 & 22 - Moving Up

That 2 part season finale was really good for both its feel good moments as well as its comedic ones and the list of guest stars too. It was good to see the concert go well to help unify Pawnee and Eagleton and Duke fuckin Silver with that sax solo was awesome. Should be interesting to see how Leslie handles running a National Parks office in Pawnee.

Gonna watch the final season this weekend. And holy shit they actually made The Cones of Dunshire into a real game.

>Man Seeking Woman s03e03 - Horse

When this show incorporates real world events into Josh's love life, I think they do a very humorous job of that like with Mike being Edward Snowden and blowing the whistle on Josh's secrets only Lucy knew about and the Chilean Mine collapse making Mike and Lucy break the ice to make conversation. I also got a good laugh out of Mike's meeting with Josh and showing the pie charts of who they've been with and Methelda.

New season confirmed to have a musical episode!

We getting Nightman 2? Or a more traditional musical episode of a show where the characters all sing about their daily lives. I would be down for a Cricket ballad about life on the streets, and a Charlie/Frank duet about Nightcrawlers.

I love that she even wore the whacky neighbor shirt.

Good episode, my favorite parts were Frank and Dennis saying how ugly Mrs Mac is

I saw something a on youtube that was quite similar, I think it was a dvd extra but it was like an old sitcom with Mac and Charlies mums. Still, pretty different to any other actual episodes.

The part where Charlie, Mac and Dennis were dissecting studio sitcom tropes like the laugh track was pretty funny and in a way self-referential to single camera shows like Sunny. Also Dee trying too hard to be funny will never not be funny.

Let's be honest though. Deep down inside, Frank loves his kids.
Especially Charlie.
