If you owned a movie theater, what sort of food would you serve? Me? I'd serve crab legs.

I'd have two seating arrangements, one area with regular sardine-style seating who uses the general-use concession stands, and one with small table+chair/booth/bench+table (divided by sound-dampening barriers for people to take dates or families where hot food is delivered during the movie.

Movie theater concession is extremely cyclical, so concession stands would sell basic movie-theater shit (popcorn, candy, soda), and shit that can be prepared an hour or two beforehand, distributed quickly, and sold at high prices (plates of hors d'oeuvres, sushi, bottles of beer/cider/local shit, pre-packaged, plastic wine cups, yuppie shit)

No idea what the other area would serve.

Luxury theaters are the wave of the future.

I recently moved to LA, and I've been to several AMC theaters with full on reclining leather chair seats (some with fold up armrest to make a fucking love seat).

Incidentally, you may be trolling a bit, but Crab Legs would be the WORST food to serve during a movie.

Any movies you're looking forward to this year?

Looks like it's the year cyberpunk and space operas are back, with Ghost in the Shell, Blade Runner 2, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, Guardians 2, and another Star War all releasing this year. Think I'm most looking forward to Song to Song, Valerian, and Guardians.

Song to Song is Terrence Malick's new flick about love and musicians in Austin, TX. doesn't sound as interesting as his other movies but it's still Malick and the cast is great so I'll be trying to catch this in theaters.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets just looks epic and fun. definitely one to see on drugs.

oh hell yeah

I'm a bit worried though... there will definitely be backlash against the portrayal of women in the series. Just look at how those fucks reacted to Iron Fist being white. The dichotomy between men and women is a huge facet of WoT. Of course, the point of that aspect of the series is overcoming that shit and learning to combine our strengths, but the leftards of today are incapable of processing that thought. There is soooo much here for the SJW's and the white knights to get up in arms over. It is of course completely unjustified, but i can just see the potential shitstorm. No one will take them seriously, but it's just the fuckin' times we live in now.

Personally, I just really want to see the battle of Dumai's Wells, if it ever goes that far. One of the most badass and defining moments in the series. Fuck I could talk about WoT for ages. Might be time to re-read the series, by the time I'm finished the show might be out

Too dope. I think the second episode had the best action sequence in the entire series but I liked this one the most overall. A lot of call backs and nostalgia. It was good to have a SLAYER episode after everything that's happened. I'm so happy Jack isn't the ultimate buzzkill everyone said he was in the rave episode the kids still get down, just not to Aku's evil beats... Jack ACTUALLY saved the rave.

Has anyone seen this? I wanted to like this because nostalgia, and whatever, but holy shit is it bad. They might as well rename the show "bill nye and his scientific echo chamber"

I was putting up with the pandering of the first episode, it was corny and cringy but whatever bill is already cringe personified. That second episode though.. it was just to much. It's very clear that bill doesn't want to hear any views that don't confirm his own and it's really pathetic how he tries to control his panel and won't let you speak if you don't match is echo chamber.

What do you guys think? Am I being to harsh?

Watched Evangelion 1.11 for the first time. I've watched the series all the way through 3 times and I don't know what I was expecting but in my opinion the movie does an excellent job of condensing the beginning of the series into something film length. Much better than the first part of End of Evangelion did.

Still got half an hour to go but it really doesn't feel like they changed much. It has been a long time since I watched the series but I honestly don't feel like it's rushed or has cut out anything important. Although the angels do attack at a pretty rapid rate.

The action is fucking amazing, I'm not crazy about mech stuff or action in general, but it's fucking brutal in this. You really feel for Shinji when he's getting attacked.

Other than that the story line is just NGE. Cheesy as fuck and Shinji's whining does get old pretty fast. But it wouldn't be NGE without that so I can't really complain.

After a surprisingly good season earlier this year, American Dad! makes its return as Stan Smith leads his all-American family. Everyday life is taken to the limit as Stan applies the same drastic measures used in his job at the CIA to his home life. Driven by machismo and the American dream, he often is blind to how horribly he fails at his attempts.

The season premieres tonight at 8:30pm EST on TBS

The parts of the ep you mention under the spoiler tags had me fucking dying.

My favorite aspect was that I thought they would ruin the episode by saying "it was all a dream" like Always Sunny always does, I'm glad they stuck with it and just magically fixed everything. Especially when Roger was forcing Steve to buy that stupid trinket he had before he could get the spell to save them all. The whole ep was priceless. Sometimes the plot driven eps lack jokes but this ep had a big story and non-stop laughs.

dubs are always sub-par. a dub might be 'good', certainly, but it's always not as good as the original. Cowboy Bebop? Yeah, 100% it has a good dub. Even I, the subs cunt, can listen to it and not cringe. The subs are still better though. 99% of the time, dubs are terrible. But even for the 1% of good dubs, subs are better.

Sheeeiiit nigga even with Space Dandy, I still prefer the japanese. It's so odd. I feel like SD should have gone either way for me but my bias still holds. And with english cartoons, I still prefer the original language. It's definitely not just me being a 'nippon superior' weeaboo. Dubs are just plain inferior, no matter what way it's coming from.

I mentioned funmation being quick with their dubs then was replied to about how it isn't hard to be quick when you don't care about quality. So it seems we were talking about dubs from the beginning.

>I meant the quality of the subtitles available on streaming websites

I've rarely had issues with subtitles, think the most recent issues was when DBS started. Those subtitles were horrible. Otherwise I don't mind small mistakes every so often if it means I get to watch anime as they come out the same day.

So, this just came out on Netflix.

Wasn't sure how to feel about it after the first episode, but it's slowly growing on me.

What do you guys think?

>less rapid fire

Am I the only one thinking they get a little too rapid fire at points? I'm not saying there should be a lot of dead time, but sometimes jokes need a little pacing or buildup, and the movie should get a little time to breath and just be hilarious by virtue of how bad it is for a minute.

Still really enjoying it though, it still feels like vintage MST3K for the most part.

I gotta say that it's pretty amazing that there is an almost unanimous verdict that the revival is just as good as it has ever been. Goes to show how great a show can be when there isn't a whole lot of corporate/production company meddling, etc. From now on, all reboots/revivals should be done through crowdfunding lol.

nah I think that too. I was watching episode 3 last night and at one point it was just like shut the fuck up and let the movie breath for a minute, they don't need to be constantly talking ffs. I also genuinely love bad movies which doesn't help, something like The Time Travelers would be enough fun on its own. come to think of it, netflix should try and get the full movies they riff on. streaming rights for that shit can't be too expensive.

I have been liking it overall though, my only complaints are the random "Moon TV" commercials that just interrupt the flow and the fact that they don't do the entire movie despite being on netflix. but I think the entire first season was crowdfunded and then they shopped the episodes around, right? so maybe now that they know they'll be on netflix they can do longer episodes with the full movie.

nah they still don't do the whole movie, but like I said I think they did it this way for season one in case a TV network bought it. but since Netflix did, maybe next season will be different.

Just finished Avalanche. So far, Cry Wilderness is my favorite of this season.

It's weird how much Jonah sounds like old Tom and how new Tom sounds like Jonah while sounding nothing like old Tom. Crow, of course, is easily replaced. Still, Trace Beaulieu will always be my favorite crow.

Set in 2010, the third installment of Fargo centers on Emmit Stussy and his slightly younger brother Ray (Ewan McGregor in dual roles). Emmit, the “Parking Lot King of Minnesota,” is a handsome, self-made real estate mogul with a perfect family – a real American success story. His slightly younger brother Ray is more of a cautionary tale. Wilted from a lifetime of living in Emmit’s shadow, Ray is a balding, pot-bellied parole officer with a huge chip on his shoulder about the hand he’s been dealt – and he blames his brother.

The only bright spot in Ray’s life is the love of a not-so-good woman, Nikki Swango (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), one of his parolees. Nikki has brains, beauty and a deep and abiding passion for competitive bridge. She decides to help Ray turn his fortunes around, by essentially stealing back his good karma. Unsurprisingly, things quickly get out of hand and petty theft leads to murder. When the mayhem crosses county lines, Eden Valley Police Chief Gloria Burgle (Carrie Coon), a newly divorced mother, is called upon to investigate. Normally steady and imperturbable, Gloria is shaken when the case takes an unexpectedly personal turn.

The season premieres tonight at 10pm EDT on FX

I picked up on some satan vibes from him as early as a couple of episodes into the series.

If anything, it says something very good about the show itself if you can read layers like that into it.

The Coen brothers are pretty well known for using symbolism like that. I honestly think he's an indirect symbol for satan.
If you think about it more, it seems more real.
The first meeting with Lorne Malvo, Lorne is basically the devil on Lester's shoulder. Talking about how fucked up it was that Sam Hess still bullies him like that. How he's such a little bitch for taking that and not acting like a man. It's almost like an other part of his conscience.
Then he basically makes a deal with the devil. He doesn't actually make a verbal contract, but it's as if the devil is punishing him for allowing those dark thoughts into his head.
Then he has to face the consequences and weave a tale of lies as bodies of loved ones and strangers alike pile up around him because he invited the evil into his life.
Years later after he's gotten away with it all by adding deception to evil in many ways, he encounters the devil again. "Lester are you sure you want this" of course he accepts, because he's done so well since the first encounter, he thinks that not even the devil can touch him. Of course that all ends up with him not being so lucky after he invites the evil back into his life for a second time.
This almost sounds like some kind of old testament story. It could easily be juxtaposed to that time period and pass as a bible story.

Pretty good premiere. Maurice dun goofed in going to the wrong address and killing Gloria's dad. Him getting squashed to death by that air conditioning unit was just the kind of death that makes Fargo what it is. Ray and Nikki are in some real deep shit now especially once they connect Maurice's death to Gloria's dad's. The stuff with Emmit and that businessman that now owns his company could get interesting now that he has to basically work for him. Could be a great season especially for its cast.

Did you all catch the Cthulu reference? Otherwise a standard opener, but the last 10 minutes or so were the best thing about the entire episode. I think it has potential.
Am I supposed to know who that policewoman's husband is that picked up the boy? I had the feeling it was presented as some kind of reveal, but maybe I'm mistaken.
Interested to see how they weave the opening scene into the story or if it's just a framing device.
