I'm convinced that Doc Hammer just doesn't enjoy doing Venture Bros anymore. I think he was all in when he started but after a while he realizes how much work it is he'd rather be living his life and doing other shit. And maybe his head just isn't in the same place it was when they started.
Can't say I blame him for it though. He's a very multi-faceted person.

With all the content on other networks I'm surprised any one watches broadcast network sitcoms anymore. Orville, big bang theory, 2broke girls, superior donuts, superstore, kevin can wait, Kevin saves the world, Kevin takes a shit... Etc. They're all mediocre half baked ideas that will never be remebered

As cool as the character is, when Marvel comics tried their recent "diversity push' with the comic line called "all new, all different", the stories were terrible. I wish Marvel knew how to use minority characters without only using them for over-the-top SJW plotlines. Like, they turned Captain America black and his first mission was to stop Texans from messing with Mexicans who were crossing the border, I'm not fucking kidding here lol. So I guess it depends what kind of writer we get saddled with.

So I just watched this film and I loved it. Just the little details in this movie were so great. Like the way everyone interacted with each other. Everything was so straight and to the point. Just wonder if anyone can recommend anything similar. Like social commentary stuff, but also kind of dark?

Memories of Murder - A summary of the plot sounds pretty boring, but it's incredibly well made, I highly reccomend this one (not just for the social commentary aspect)

City of God

Tropa de Elite/Elite Squad

Battle Royale - The movie just kinda hints at the deeper social topics, read the book if you want more of that.

Toni Erdmann, Its sad, its funny, its a bit surreal. (currently available on amazon prime if you have it.)

I was a little disappointed with Killing of a Sacred Deer. All the classical music and greek mythology hit my pretentious nerve. Prefered Dogtooth.

I have to give a mention to the classic "Whos afraid of virginia woolf" if you would like some uncomfortable relationship games and jokes. You should check out "The Exterminating Angel" and other Brunuel films if you want to dig into some influences on The Lobster.

If that is evidence then why don't they have him arrested and prosecuted for it? Like I said, I imagine they're telling the truth but this entire growing phenomena of libelling strangers is dangerous and frankly scary. This thread is a collection of good movies to watch any day of the year! I will post one film every 24 hours or so.

Movie of the Day:
>Hausu (1977)
A Japanese horror comedy film directed and produced by Nobuhiko Obayashi. It stars mostly amateur actors. The film follows a schoolgirl traveling with her six classmates to her ailing aunt's country home, where they come face to face with supernatural events as the girls are, one by one, devoured by the home.

It's no secret that hollywood is out of ideas for movies, what are some great stories from literature that you think should be adapted to the screen?

  1. Hyperion - Dan Simmons: This book has everything; FTL travel, time travel, malicious AI, Aliens and compelling characters. Due to the fractured story telling in the first book and the protracted narrative, this would probably have to be done as a tv series. If successful, the sequels are just as compelling.

2. Forever War - Joe Haldeman: I truly can't believe that this one hasn't been made into some kind of film adaptation already. Of all the stories on this list, I feel like this one needs the least amount of work story wise to translate to the screen. The story is tight enough story that it could easily be written into a feature film.

3. Snow Crash/Seven Eves/Cryptonomicon - Neal Stephenson: Pretty much anything by Neal Stephenson deserves an adaptation, but these 3 in particular have always struck me as the most cinematic in his oeuvre. Snow Crash is basically just a better version of the movie Ready Player One, that's coming out later this year. The premise for Seven Eves is that the moon blows up for no reason, it got a luke warm reception, but it's one of my very favorite books and I believe it would translate well to the big screen. Cryptonomicon follows 2 narratives one begginning in WWII and one in the modern world, following lost german submarines, crazy marines and crazier treasure hunters, with a sprinkle of geopolitics and intrigue. Any of them would make for an excellent blockbuster.

4. The Stars are Legion -Kameron Hurley: This 2017 book is enigmatic, bold and really sticky, for real, I felt like I needed to take a shower after I read this book... in a good way. The story chronicles the lives of a female-only, alien race living on multi-layered, hostile, living planets. The set-pieces in this book alone would be amazing to see translated onto the screen.

5. Wild Cards series - J.R.R Martin: OG martin fans know about the amazing anthology series he edited. In an alternate history where an alien ship crash lands on earth shortly after WWII, it releases a virus that causes people all over the world to change. Some b…

>Hitman's Bodyguard starring Ryan Reynolds & Samuel L. Jackson
Is it acting if the actors are just playing themselves?
Also the fighting and stunt felt more visceral; good idea for the movie to hire a Hong Kong company to achieve that. *Thumbs up*

The Foreigner

I liked this a lot. It was more like a 'real movie' with awesome jackie chan fighting to me than a typical jackie movie which was always tons of great action and funny but shitty story/dialogue. I knew with his age the action wouldn't be as non-stop but it's still the same crazy Jackie fighting that you are used to. I hope he keeps making movies like this.

For my picks, I'd say that The Leftovers, GLOW and BoJack Horseman was my favorite drama, comedy and animated show of 2017. For movies, my top five no order is Get Out, Blade Runner 2049, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Baby Driver. I still gotta watch some more stuff from last year. As for pans, I was pretty disappointed with the final season of Longmire though I can't think of anything else.

I'll give The Leftovers points for originality but idk the show just didn't do much for me. There were some pretty cool concepts but the character arcs felt weird like they were just winging it and it was kinda like they were hovering between going full sci fi fantasy and just being a soap opera. Like they couldn't really commit, though they kinda did in the end.

Has Sony ever been involved in anything which can be considered a classic? i mean somthing from one of their studios when they were actually running it?

About pixar i mean obviously they are for children. anybody who doesnt realise that pixar movies are for kids needs a reality check.

My 2017 pix:
Pros:
Last Flag Flying
American Made
Blade Runner 2049
John Wick Chapter 2
The Disaster Artist

The same reason I can post this image without it getting blocked by 420chan's thing which prevents you from uploading the exact same picture as someone else.

Yep! and sometimes they even adjust the colours/brightness and sharpness which also stops copyright bots. Ive made this image darker with a slight pinky tone, adjusted the sharpness and the contrast.
