is said that the next season of Stranger Things to be their darkest season yet, with more adult themes.

so my guess here is it's not just going to be more horror, violence and scary scenes, but a lot of sexual content in it but hey, could be wrong.

Bumping for Volume 1's premiere on Friday. Volume 1 will be the first 7 episodes and Volume 2, which will be released on July 1, is the final 2 episodes. Here's the runtimes for the episodes, which are really ridiculous and explains why it's taken about 3 years to come out aside from COVID-19 delays:

>Episode 1 – 1 hour, 16 minutes
>Episode 2 – 1 hour, 15 minutes
>Episode 3 – 1 hour, 3 minutes
>Episode 4 – 1 hour, 17 minutes
>Episode 5 – 1 hour, 14 minutes
>Episode 6 – 1 hour, 13 minutes
>Episode 7 – 1 hour 38 minutes
>Episode 8 – 1 hour, 25 minutes
>Episode 9 – 2 hours, 30 minutes

I am looking for a nice list of movies to watch that could be sci-fi / fiction and obscure / mindfuck movies.

To start this off here is a movie some may or may have not watched before of a dystopian sci-fi world of control.

That midseason finale was perfect. Jimmy and Kim may have been able to pull off that con on Howard (I couldn't stop laughing during the meditation hearing cause I knew how badly Howard was gonna look by accusing Rand of accepting that $20K bribe from Jimmy). The last scene when Howard showed up demanding to to know why the two went to such lengths to humiliate him and concluding that they are sociopaths who enjoy running cons regardless of the consequences was so well done and he basically described both of them in a nutshell. The overall theme with Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad is that there are ripple effects for actions that lead to greater albeit indirect consequences i.e. Jane's death leading to that airline collision at the end of Breaking Bad season 2 and now Jimmy and Kim's con on Howard leading to his death and eventually the probable demise of HHM.

The thing about this half-season was showing the lengths Howard had been going through to rehabilitate himself and ultimately, while Jimmy and Kim do hold grudges against how they perceived he had treated them, Howard ultimately was not necessarily this villain that they were making him out to be. It really helped to drive home how tragic it was that Howard got killed by Lalo for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. But yeah, this season has been very good so far and at least we only have to wait until July 11 for the midseason premiere.

>>422021
Don't think that's gonna happen now lol.

>>422061
Yeah it does have a slow burn, not as slow as something like Rectify, but it is there like the first half of season 4 after Chuck died and before Lalo showed up.

Finished Moon Knight, which I appreciated the darker tone and Oscar Isaac did a pretty good job playing two different personalities and three by the mid-credits scene in the finale. The only thing I wished they had done more of was highlighting his abilities more and the whole "Steven blacks out when Marc takes over and it cuts to after he kills everyone" was kind of a lame way to show their split. I feel like some of the Egyptian mythology missed its mark and went over people's heads with trying to follow the plot though I felt it was pretty straightforward.[/%] I thought episode 5 was probably the best one and it was a deep dive into Marc's backstory and why he created Steven. Episode 6 at least felt like typical MCU fare but it was cool.

I also went to see Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness on Saturday. Sam Raimi's directing was sorely missed and was a lot more violent than I thought it would be but it was fun especially zombie Doctor Strange. I did mark out for Professor X's return and Reed Richards, which at least gives us hope that they'll introduce X-Men and Fantastic Four into the MCU sooner than later. I can imagine people hating on this film because of its darker tone reminiscent of Batman Returns but it was enjoyable.

Chiggy you fool. The blackouts didnt involve Steven or Marc. Think. Think.

Steven doesn't kill. Marc tries not to kill. But who doesn't care about killing? Jake has been in the show since the start. Germany was a massacre, remember?

I wasn't really talking about who the blackouts involved, but yeah I guess it's more Jake than it is Marc and Steven, as much as I didn't really like the decision to just cut out what happened and be like omg he blacked out and this shit happened so they wouldn't have to pay more money to do more action scenes.

A lot of younger people don't know why people hate Jar Jar Binks. Let me tell you why everyone hates Jar Jar Binks. In 1998, Pepsi did a Phantom Menace sweepstakes where the cans had a different character from the movie on them and you could win a million bucks if you got the can with Yoda. Long story short, nobody got the one with Yoda on it, but 9 times out of 10 you'd draw a Jar Jar Binks. So he represents the unlucky side of gambling to most people subconsciously.

No thread about Arcane?

Thought it was great. Not really a big fan of the game but the animation, story, and the voice acting was superb. I highly recommend it, appearntly it cost them around 100mil and it shows. ike watching a painting in motion. It's just all around well put together.

Season 2 is already announced though I think we won't be seeing anything for another two years.

Rewatched the 2003 remake of Freaky Friday at my friend's insistence as I hadn't seen it since after it had initially come out. I have a much better appreciation for Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan's (before her career fell off) performances now than I did 20 years ago because being able to act as someone else's personality and pull it off with such humor is quite an accomplishment. Could have done without the overt stereotypical oriental mysticism for the transformation scene though.

>>421986
I saw Everything Everywhere All At Once yesterday and it absolutely is film of the year already. It's going to be very hard for any other film to top it and I can't think of any other film that's really tackled the multiverse concept better than this and like Turning Red, also being able to dissect the North American Asian mother/daughter relationship with finesse. Daniels' directing was top notch and one of Michelle Yeoh's best performances of her career, a hell of a acting comeback performance for Ke Huy Quan, and a breakout performance for Stephanie Hsu. And Curtis was also great in this one too.

I saw EEAAO just the other day and it's indeed my film of the year as well so far. Just a blast to watch. I was dragged to watch it by a friend who wasn't interested in the Northman which is what I wanted watch, and boy do I not regret it.

Also for sure a better multiverse movie than the new Dr Strange (which is a fun romp with Sam Raimi's distinct style oozing through it, but not amazing or anything)

The fact that they have cartoons from the '80s, '90s, '00s, and '10s that include the entire history of the Disney Afternoon programming block as well as the catalog of shows from Toon Disney and Disney XD. This means that I'm going to be spiraling into a pit of nostalgia. I wish I had this service when I was a kid.

I watched it last week but I appreciated the film's coming-of-age story and nostalgia value as someone that was around the same age in 2002 as the film's director Domee Shi and Mei by extension. I do find it funny people were trying to criticize it since it broached the topics of puberty and menstruation openly but I thought Shi handled it respectfully and the literal metaphor of turning into a red panda best was a humorous way to help illustrate those.

>didn't feel like the mom/grandma in this one reckoned with their behaviour really.

By the end of the film, you had Mei reconcile with her mom Ming and helping her mend Ming's bond with her mom Wu, whom Ming had scarred in anger before she sealed her red panda. I thought it was logical to have Mei keep her red panda and Ming accepting that Mei is finding her own path and letting her have her own social life. Obviously, Ming is basically a stereotypical tiger mom but the film does highlight the generation gap between Asian parents who had immigrated or grew up in households of immigrant parents and their children who were born/grew up in Western countries like Canada and the struggle Mei goes through.

Adult Swim has this on their site free or HBO. Funny show i prefer over Rick and Morty, although up the same alley. Anyone else seen the 8 episode first season? Each one is about 10 minutes an episode. they basically work at a suicide hotline and their job is to help people smile.

“The series follows the day-to-day lives and misadventures of a small charity dedicated to improving the lives of its customers. A pair of employees, cynical Charlie and cheerful, optimistic Pim, try to help out the troubled people who call their charity's hotline, though this task usually proves to be more challenging than anticipated due to the often deep-seated nature of their clients' problems.”

I watched it when the first season was released on HBO Max back in January, and I had a lot of fun. Unique concept, fun and memorable characters, nice animation. I liked that they played the Halloween episode straight until the end. It also doesn't seem up its ass like Rick and Morty got after S02—Charlie and Pim are good (friendly) foils for one another. Cusack's humor also translates well to a more focused format
