For those of you who still care about Star Wars. The latest movie poster was recently leaked for Episode IX which is due for release in the latter half of this year. Along with it an image depicting some of the new attires for the main heroes.

It makes me wonder, though, when the trailer is going to be released and if we're going to get a sub-title soon.

Dude. The best way to watch shows that meander off into the sunset of dissatisfaction is to just trail off.

This is the only correct way to watch Lost, and probably also Game of Thrones.
Future generations can bail on GoT in the later seasons knowing that no, it doesn't pay off shit and only cheapens the rest of what it had going on.

Future generations will also have that fucking book we've been denied for 15 years.

interesting article I just found here on Forbes kind of pertaining to earlier discussion above;? source: https://www.forbes.com/sites/scottmendelson/2020/01/12/box-office-star-wars-rise-of-skywalker-is-the-first-1-billion-disappointment/
> Kathleen Kennedy’s leadership at Lucasfilm has yielded 5 movies that will gross just under $6 billion in global grosses.
>Inflation aside, that’s more than all six Peter Jackson Middle Earth flicks.
> That’s 35% of MCU’s $17 billion 22-movie cume.
> or 76% of the $7.723 billion earned by the eight Harry Potter movies.
“And those five moves include one super-sized smash (Force Awakens) and one huge miss (Solo), with all but Rise of Skywalker earning decent reviews and solid audience word-of-mouth.

Even with all the behind-the-scenes struggles,
I’d argue Rise of Skywalker is the only one that seems a victim of studio tug-of-wars.”

So, about JJ [Abrams] and KK, and RJ.
What the fuck really even was this take-turns directing for this trilogy?
is that not the most soft modern thing imaginable for hollywood to do lol

  • They both have companions were are all guys.
  • They both use weapons that were passed down to them.
(Rey had the Skywalker lightsaber. Korra had Aang's staff.)
  • They both use staffs.
  • They both had an issue with anger/rage.
  • They both have a relation to an evil man trying to usher in an era of darkness.
  • They both were called Mary Sues and both of them were hated.
  • They both have powerful connections.
(Rey has the power of every Jedi. Korra had the power of every Avatar.)
  • They were both tasked with restoring balance.

Fuck off, I actually worked as a janitor for a couple years when my life was at an all-time low, so I was talking from experience. Only instead of working it forever, I got a better job, one that would pay rent and keep me affording more weed than I can ever run out of. Anyone who willingly works as a janitor for life is fucked in the head. It's supposed to be a job to give the mentally handicapped something to get them out of the house, not for normal people to rely on.

A very brief review (or maybe afterthought) of "The Painted Bird"

I've just recently returned from this year's Camerimage in Poland, which is an international film festival with a particular interest in the art of Cinematography. I wanted to share some thoughts on a particular film screening I saw during the festival, "The Painted Bird," by Václav Marhoul. The film is a black and white adaptation of Jerzy Kosiński's novel by the same name. I'm sharing this brief review, or probably better described as a "personal afterthought" without the use of any particular spoilers.

    • *

The Painted Bird was unique in it's use of stunningly beautiful imagery, speckled with hints or suggestions of various symbolic notions. Yet this particular visual and symbolic beauty was presented in a nearly constant contrast with the absolutely disturbing and truly horrifying events of the plot.

Leaving the screening room after the film, I was emotionally and psychologically jarred. The night after having watched the film I woke from terrible nightmares. These nightmare scenes and images were so absurdly repulsive that I am unwilling to describe them to my wife, my closest partner.

On the screen it is only a story, it is only fiction. But in the hearts of some viewers it may shed light upon a certain philosophical or metaphysical musing wherein the most terrible horrors, sufferings, and other pains a person could experience in this human life is perhaps a sort of cosmic phantasmagoria - mere illusion when compared with something yet more mysterious and subtle than our own current human condition.

I´ll explain by example;
If you liked the Tyrone and Spider politics parts in the earlier GoT seasons, you would likely love Wolf Hall. No fantasy and more laid back, but tasty and subdued intrigue.

I have watched up to about episode 2 season 2 and I'm completely baffled by how unbelievably incompetent the rebels are in the show. Here's what I can't figure out:

>their goal is not to over throw the germans and Japanese but to stop them from destroying each other
>they constantly tell Julianna that "this is not the way things work" when she wants to know who anyone is or what they are doing but yet Washington and the lady resistance member know everyone apparently even knowing people in the east coast resistance so I get that secret organizations need to be secretive but they seem to share some secrets with her and withhold other with no rhyme or reason
>they constantly entrust vital operations to julianna crane and then claim they can't trust her then they trust again then she fucks something up they say they can't trust her then they send her on a mission
>they constantly act smug and superior like they've got some sort of grand elaborate plan but then say they have no plan other than gathering the tapes
>most of them don't watch the tapes and take Stephen Roots word that they important and can influence events (which may be true in the world of the show but no one is going to believe something that crazy unless they see the tapes, which they don't)
>this would create the problem that lower ranking members of the resistance would have no clue what they were actually fighting for and would probably break off and form a new resistance movement to do actual practical shit like assassination's and raiding convoy's and such, thereby splitting the resistances scarce resources and bring more heat down on all of them.
>their "most successful" operative (julianna crane) basically randomly bumbles from one situation to the next with incredibly mixed results and whenever she seems genuinely interested in helping the resistance they withhold information from her and act all high an mighty about how they have everything figured out and they don't want her but then they need her.

Am I over thinking this or is this the most ineffective rebel organization in tv/movie history???

I keep comparing them in my mind to the rebel alliance from star wars. The star wars rebels had limited resources and were against huge empire as well but those rebels had a practical plan that they were ultimately able to achieve with their limited resources inspiring more people to them along the way by being able to point out their tangible victories against the empire. They also place their trust in people that have proven themselves to be sympathetic to their cause and don't wildly change their mind every five minutes about who gets to know what information.

Over all I actually like the show, especially the alt history cold war geopolitics between Germany and Japan, that is fascinating and has plenty of drama it's just the resistance is so dumb / incompetent that they are a real distraction. I would really love to know other peoples thoughts on this and I don't mind spoilers (if properly tagged) for the other seasons.

Also I hope the Actress playing Julianna Crane actually acts at some point, so far she just kind of vaguely stares off into the distance in every scene she's in, just on a side note.

If you're struggling to enjoy the show now, just quit while you're ahead because it's all downhill from there. Things start to get kind of retarded near the end of season 2, then keep getting even more retarded and weird in season 3. Then season 4 is even worse because the show got cancelled so they had to shit out a final season when they clearly weren't ready for it.

Watched it because I had nothing on my mind to recommend at the moment and a "best friend" wanted to watch this boring-ass-series with me.

Is this series a test on how many bad, cheap things it can pick out of Walking Dead and Buffy or Angel?!

The characters are boring as fuck, the MAIN CHARACTER looks like a whiny emo with no idea how to act (also, whats with his eyeliner? wat).

Not enough action, the camerawork feels so amateurisch,
the obviously had no money for good sets, since everything in this series looks so cheap and recycled.
The cringey bad "transformation"-effect of the vampires makes even the "Buffy"-Vampires look good in comparison.

Why does this series even exist?!

They are so obviously on a cheap budget, since it has this... backwater-north-america feel in it.
You know? Show us long big roads with woods and small towns but without any sense of interesting camera- or filterwork.

Like they are afraid to show big buldings or interesting places!

Its so fucking bland!

The actors don't act, they are all so obviously bored on set!

Why does this even exist?!
