>Sir, what is "insert concept that anyone without pants-shitting enthusiasm would easily understand"?

Isaac's character would of been far more believable if they waited for the series finale for him to spend 700 years on a planet studying "humans". He should of learned a lot there and have actually gained a lot of social skills.

I suspect Seth agrees, but had to put his best material out early or risk cancellation.

It's already cancelled but Hulu won;t admit it. They know it won;t attract subscribers. There was a leak of cancellation but they deny it now. Orville is ending. Sucks, but at least it outlived Firefly.

Most viewers know more about BTK from IRL and know better than to expect him to be caught soon. The guy who the main character is based on became obsessed with BTK and he goes against all the normal profiles that the dude normally uses. IRL, in the end, BTK gets himself caught by not understanding modern technology, so the poor profiler doesnt even get the victory of cracking the case through his dumb profiles

It was visible in episode one but episode two is really suffering from being remediated from book to TV show. Random exposition and bizarre character behavior. Sometimes the soundtrack is weird enough that I have to check if something else is playing in the background.

The dorky male origins of nerdom

File: 1598480650233.jpg -(13725B / 13.40KB, 213x300) Thumbnail displayed, click image for full size. The dorky male origins of nerdom
Let's start with this: https://cosmicbook.news/disney-purging-star-wars-marvel-woke-agenda

Now my, admittedly gender centric politically incorrect, take on the subject of sci-fi, comic books, and all things nerdy, in general.

The favored subjects of nerdom, mentioned above, arrived on the main subculture scene in the wake of WW2 (although it's origins are in the late 19th century). Many young GIs returning from the war had become fans of sci-fi and comic books during their time in military service. Now, back at home, with much leisure time and good paying jobs, they began consuming their favored genres in increasing quantities. A decade later, their children adopted what was their father's former interest. Now though, being the mid-50s and society mostly re-normalized in an atomic age kind of way, sci-fi and comic books were preferred mostly by non-athletic, indoorsy types, exemplified by R E Howard and many other writers. Demonized by Sen. Kefauver, comic books became a subject of public scorn, further driving down the nerdy subject demographic audience size. Through this whole period it was almost exclusively boys that carried the core subjects of nerdom. It was a refuge from the bullying of more "manly" boys who viewed nerds as very nearly girls. It was also a refuge from girls, whom the nerdy boys had little success. Thus it was for half a century.

But then, some time in the early 2000s, something changed. The children of the sons of those GIs of old had now attained adulthood. Raised on fare of Star Wars and Star Trek and X-Men and Batman, and with the spending power of adulthood, they began flicking to the cherished subjects of their youth. Responding to this, publishers andedia companies began to see the marketing potential of nerdom. And so the subjects of sci-fi and comic books began being marketed to girls.

This is the problem: girls are not the inheritors of nerdom. They have, historically and as a group, derided nerds as unfit to associate with. Yet now, in the 2020s, and for a few years prior, we see girls attempting to insinuate themselves into need culture, driven by marketing by media companies, telling girls that nerdy subjects are cool.

I reject this. Need culture is a clubhouse on the door of which is written "no girls allowed." This is not a dig at girls (or women, or females, or however you choose to signify non-maleness). This is drawing a line, as a historically marginalized person - a nerd. To girls I say, this thing is not for you. This is a thing that boys and men have built for themselves and it is wrong for you, at this late hour, after decades of rejection of nerdom, to now insist that you be included.

There are NO girl Jedis.

Babylon 5 is probably the best Space sci fi of all time (sorry trekkers)

I'm a huge fan of This is England the film (and other Shane Meadows stuff), but the tv series never really clicked for me in the same way. I've seen the film countless times, and watched the series on the strength of that, just wanting to see what happened to the characters, but it's just quite grim as a whole and I don't think they really managed to capture the wider social angle like TIE did.

Shaun's story was fascinating because it captured both the individual (he's looking for peer acceptance) and the social (racism in 80s britain). I felt like the tv series missed this.

Not in any particular order since that would take forever to decide.

Skins (UK not US)
Shameless (both UK or US, love them both)
Letterkenny
Always Sunny
Scrubs
The Office (I prefer US but UK is still great)
Doom Patrol
Summer Heights High
Pizza, or more commonly known as Fat Pizza
Twin Peaks (I'm about 5 episodes off of finishing the second season, what I've seen from the Laura Palmer storyline is enough to put it on here even if it shits the bed in season 3)

More like a Wyatt Earp thread.

>Wyatt Berry Stapp Earp (March 19, 1848 – January 13, 1929) was an Old West lawman and gambler in Cochise County, Arizona Territory, and a deputy marshal in Tombstone. He worked in a wide variety of trades throughout his life and took part in the famous gunfight at the O.K. Corral, during which lawmen killed three outlaw Cochise County Cowboys. He is often erroneously regarded as the central figure in the shootout, although his brother Virgil was the Tombstone City and Deputy U.S. Marshal that day, and had far more experience in combat as a sheriff, constable, marshal, and soldier.[2]

With Cops and Live PD being canceled now in response to everything that's been happening lately, how do you think shows and movies that portray law enforcement are going to move forward from this? Will this mean much more realistic portrayals of law enforcement in movies and TV shows? Also how do you guys think past shows and movies about law enforcement hold up now in today's world?

What is the mix of emotions called when feeling fear and joy at the same time?

I’d go for a word that means something like paralyzed with terror, melding into the highest ecstasy and excitement, but more so wedded together like a sexual partners of any sort will seek in their desires - as the scriptures wistfully say, one flesh.

That’s contentment. Contentment has content. It also works to contain the limits of another thing - like a soup can delimits how far the soup can flow, and stabilizes the soup in the can. And we are not easily stabilized - take a running stream on a mountainside.

It is happy and sad within bounds, and within the same bounds, accepting a portion of fear and joy to bear with also. I don’t want you to think of this as a kind of compromise, settling for only terror and calm. It natively has a level of acceptance of things as they are in it. There is point and direction in existence. For people and for all things alive or not alive, what was, what is, and what shall be is true equanimity as Pyrrho and Epicurus achieved I don’t have to expect too much! I don’t have to complain! I don’t have to regret or envy! I’m just thankful for life!

> Spawning countless Copycats
> Arthur Fleck wasn't actually THE Joker
well they used the actual Mask Props from The Dark Knight's opening scene as the masks everyone inspired by Fleck in the movie had on around town.

Many theorized Ledger's Joker was one inspired by Fleck here, and that The Dark Knight's timeline as the future would make sense considering Young Brucey appearing in this film. Once more, this affirms Batman was initially created(the death of his parents being a murder) setoff by the original Joker's own chain of events.

Joker MADE the Batman, and then, eventually, someone carried out the feud for him.

Unless, of course, we're to believe Ledger's Joker is the same escaped nutcase having erased all his own records, similar to how his mother kept her a secret from Him.

Tell me about VICE. Why is there such a dedicated base of people who hate their content so much they're singularly incapable of not viewing every single video and post they made to reeee? I cannot think of a single other company or IP that has such a huge number of consistent viewers who absolutely hate everything they do.

I've always known it existed and liked their and I've not really noticed a change in content or slant since I started having a passing interest in their stuff in 2012 but maybe it had already fallen by then. But I doubt it, seeing as it started as a punk zine. I didn't start watching it before but is it really as simple as Gavin becoming retarded and taking a slice of the fans with him? Fans who definitely aren't ass-pained at all to have such a seething hatred for a media company instead of I dunno just watching something else. I mean even their pre-split content is not really any different.

Is it just a case of collective brain damage as these people fell for "cOnSerVatiSM iS tHE neW PUnk rocK" meme and genuinely are disconnected from reality enough to think they stayed alternative and punk rock as VICE went SJW while their leader is creating far-right paramilitary groups and has takes like "why not an ethnostate?", "all muslims lie about being tolerant (literally the Onion "decoy muslims" video but actually". and "trans people shouldn't be allowed to talk to children"

Why does VICE make these people so god damn upset? It's such a shocking level of absolute MALDING over a split that happened over a decade ago. I can't tell if it's people just finding any reason to hate VICE or people who hate this stuff and never watched VICE coming to brigade it. But I mean look at the comments here lmaooo

While the average IQ of Ashkenazi is 13 points higher than the average white, in total there are more high IQ whites than high IQ jews. For every high IQ (across the range) Jew there are many more whites of equal capacity. This means there is something other than competence at play in jewish control over certain areas.

>Jews:Whites::Whites: Blacks
Also, this narrative is often pushed by Jews who, out of the other corner of their mouth, claim that black failures are due to white privilege and white oppression. They ignore competence as a factor and assume.

Jewish people are in the upper eschelons of European, Western society which was created, after the enlightenment, when Jews were banned from partiicpating in most of its institutions. They are not needed, nor did they themselves create or meaningfully (at all) contribute to its formation. Nor, as the other IQ char shows, are they necessary, Westerners can asnd does produce its own high IQ high competent people to manage their own societies.

If you truly believe what you wrote, you have implicitly conceeded race realist dogmas into your wolrdview. If you are using it as a foil to show the foolishness of alt right positions, my explanation should help you understand our viewpoint better.
