I think South Park should have an episode where Colorado rolls out this new tourist/ad campaign called "What Is Your Town About?" So, it comes to South Park, signs are put up, and the Mayor gives a big speech to rally the townspeople to consider "What is South Park REALLY About?"

This of course, over the course of the episode, devolves into a very meta conversation about what [the show] South Park is actually about. Shitflinging occurs when the townspeople disagree, there are different allied forces formed within the town to defend what they think the "town" is really about. Some sort of guerrilla war breaks out, and shit goes nuts.

Idk how to end it, maybe Ike gives a speech at the end or something, but then Cartman just farts on him in the closing shot.

Rey -- Practically the hero for a new generation of children who want to dress up as her for Halloween and would likely remember her fondly as many of the older generations remember Luke and Han. While her character is nothing more than the female equivalent of both aforementioned ones,it still seems likely that she will be remembered in the greater scope of the Star Wars franchise.

Poe -- While not necessarily the most memorable character. I still see a fair amount of kids dress like him for Halloween and still seems to be somewhat popular with audiences.

Then you have...

Finn -- Who at this point should have died in The Last Jedi only because it seems like nobody, not even the targeted audience that they were trying to appeal to, seems to give two flying fucks about this character. The left over merchendise I see in stores always seem to be his figures.

Why the fuck do people not seem to like Finn? Is it just because he's black? Or is it because of some other reason? Finn almost feels like the character of Booster in Jingle All the Way. You know, nobody likes you Finn.

I know it ended a couple weeks ago, but I went a few pages back and couldn’t find a thread for it.

I thought it was pretty much flawless. I’ve heard some criticisms of its accuracy Like scherbina would have never threatened an established member of the soviet science community like legasov out of a helicopter, this was 1986, not 1946; and that a speech like that at the show trial by legasov would have never happened. But pretty much all sources agree they got the setting of Pripyat and the lives of its citizens right on target, and they were some of the most compelling parts.

I’d be interested to hear from people who think it’s overrated though, considering how much critical fellatio it’s getting.

Or just a new cast entirely. I think this sort of thing lends itself more to the idea that every season is a new group that goes on an adventure we are privvy to. Could be good having time jumps and such that reference events from the other seasons but not directly connected.

Finally got around to watching season 3. I thought it was a much better improvement from season 2 and I actually did like the introduction of the Russian subplot trying to reopen the gate, which while totally ridiculous is also a callback to shit like Red Dawn and Cold War pop culture in general but also tying into previous references on the previous seasons hinting at that. Alexei was pretty funny too especially his interactions with Hopper and Murray, sucks he died though. Hopper obviously I think is still alive and he is that American prisoner in Russia.

The season finale was pretty balls to the wall action wise but also had a lot of emotions and humor to it with Billy's death and Dustin having to sing Never Ending Story with Suzie. Looking forward to next season at least though hopefully we get more Steve being a badass moments.

Are there ven any gems on Njetflix anymore?

Finished all of Daredevil, Punisher, Irion Fist, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones now and would like to watch a movie thats really good.

Started Peaky Blinders, but its so bland and looks so clean. Everything in this series looked like a cramped stage. You could see the studio-walls. Clean-licked set-pieces. idk. It looked like one of these childrens books, where you connect the numbers with lines.
Predictable set-pieces.

As a Sci-Fi-Fan I tried to get into Another Life... but hooooly shit is this trainwreck full of plot-holes, inconsistencies, a childish highschool-team isntead of scientists as crew and horrendous wrong psudo-science bullshit!

Anything worth my time, or should I just cancel my netflix Account, since there won't be anymore Marvel-shows coming (fuck you Disney!) and really epic shows like
"the Boys" and "Preacher" aren't on Njetflix?

What is the reason behind a TV show including music for a show, and then dubbing over it with generic stuff in a later viewing? Is it really just that they think paying for the one-time airing of it will influence enough people to think it's cool, despite it not being shown on replays?

What are some of the worst examples of this?

Yes I made this thread because I'm upset I can't find a version of season 1 of Skins with the original music.

This thread is another collection of good movies to watch any day of the year! I will post one film...every now and again.

Movie of the Day:
>The Descent (2005)
A British action adventure horror film written and directed by Neil Marshall. Five women embark on a spelunking expedition in an effort to support their grieving friend, a widow who lost her child and her husband in an accident one year prior to the main events of the film. It pits the women against nature, one another, and a predatory other. Dangerous circumstances and sexual rivalry conspire to strip all sophistication from the group; civilization erodes and the protagonists are left alone with only their baser instincts, glow sticks, and a damp cave full of monsters. It premiered at the 2005 Dead By Dawn film festival.

Movie of the Day:
>Hereditary (2018)
An American psychological horror film written and directed by Ari Aster, starring Toni Collette, Alex Wolff, Milly Shapiro, and Gabriel Byrne. It portrays a grief-stricken family's struggles against malevolent otherworldly forces seeking to exploit their children. The characters are plagued by tragedy after tragedy; their predicament blurs the lines between insanity and the supernatural as an elaborate generational ritual unfolds around them.

where my /hereditary/ fam at

Ari Aster debuted with a five star film called hereditary that i posted about here when it released because i thought it was p cool tbh.

now im curious if anyone here has seen the director’s second film “Midsommer” and what did ya think of it?

I thought it had great scene transitions from start to finish, and it made me uncomfortable in the most awesome sense for a movie. I recommend this film if you arent going to horror movies for your typical jump-scare suspense type spots. Not a harsh critic so maybe its just me but I thought this shit was great.

Late to the party on this one.

It was alright. It really could have stood to have been 45 minutes or so shorter. It really starts to slog on. It is definitely an interesting concept and the unique society shit keeps it kinda interesting for longer than it probably should.

Not entirely sure what the point is though. I mean, the story is basically some college kids go into a cult and only one makes it out alive but then she turns into their leader after a trippy dance ceremony? Then she burns her boyfriend alive for being drugged and "cursed" into having sex with a cult member? I dunno, what is the Westerner American dance girl supposed to just lead this primitive tribal cult now?

I'd probably have turned it off and just read a cliffnotes of the remainder if it wasn't for My enjoyment watching like 50 skinny blonde white girls endlessly dance around and be cute and shit. Also, who the fuck would pick that gangling ugly redhead over that cutey Dani? I'll give a beleaguered pass to the stupid plotline of somewhat forced adultery=a horrific murder for this fact alone.

Really though, Christian was pretty much innocent. War never changes.

The pacing was too slow, especially with how predictable everything was. The characters were pretty boring and unlikable. The effects were really good, and the cinematography was good, too. They really nailed how vibrant and weird things are when tripping, but the suspense and discomfort fall flat after that first mushroom scene.
I went in with high hopes, but this film didn't deliver. 9/10 for the visuals. 9/10 for the practical effects, looked like something straight from LiveLeak. 5/10 for pacing and plot.

Looks like Jessie Pinkman is getting his own Netflix movie. What are your thoughts?

I'll definitely watch it. I loved the first three or four seasons of Breaking Bad, but looking back, it sort of tanked during season five. I still enjoyed it, but some of the writing was pretty dumb.

Did anyone else remember the general threads we had back when the show was airing? I look back fondly of the times when people didn't know what foreshadowing meant.

I like the bookending of Jessie freaking the fuck out maniacally through the desert at night with him calmly driving in Alaska showing the change in his emotions. He really was a victim of location more than anything. How much of this would he have gone through had he not lived where he lived. Reminded me of Saul doing the reverse.

I finished watching it off of a roundtrip commute. It was pretty decent. I agree with whoever was saying that the flashbacks either drag or feel unnecessary. I also agree with >>410771 for saying that Jesse participating in a gun duel felt out of character. It still felt nostalgic to watch, though. It felt like a Breaking Bad episode.
