Jyn Erso. Come fight me. She is quite literally just some woman who had to just survive while living with an actual extremist and not really that special as the Skywalkers or Solos, but she and her father still had a very large role to play in the overall film that had a massive effect on how events went down in the Galactic Civil War. Her father essentially making the trench run the means to destroy the super weapon and Jyn making it possible for the Rebellion to get the Death Star plans. Jyn Erso is my girl. Come and fight me.

It was creepy in the first season as it felt like it was building up to it for the second but were still doing this. This season felt like filler until we get our ultimate big bad. I get the point of this season was that not everything works out but it STILL felt like a letdown to me. This season felt a lot bigger with way less payoff. Not as strong interviews with killers as the first one did IMO.

Most viewers know more about BTK from IRL and know better than to expect him to be caught soon. The guy who the main character is based on became obsessed with BTK and he goes against all the normal profiles that the dude normally uses. IRL, in the end, BTK gets himself caught by not understanding modern technology, so the poor profiler doesnt even get the victory of cracking the case through his dumb profiles

This is about The 100

After primefya Clark and Bellamy totally lose their marbles. Who, of all people, finds their marbles? Octavia, and she gets shit all over for it. In an entire season, she is the only person who seems capable of thinking more than six hours in front of them.

She is betrayed by everyone constantly, and Still breaks through into Eden. If she had used the worms, killed Abbey, or not been poisoned, that methylodium never would have gotten the chance to drop, and Earth wouldn't have been blasted back into the 'surface begins to cool' phase.

If anyone but Miller had chosen Not to betray her, things would have turned out fine. Each of her betrayers, individually, holds responsibility for the destruction of Earth. And then they turn around and look down their noses at her, who in a very real sense saved the human race.

She did One Little Thing to get people to march, and it even had historical precedent.

So I was talking with my buddy about how I sometimes have expectations in life based on what I've seen in movies and TV - the specific example was about how I hate going to my mother with my problems cuz she never says anything to console, more specifically doesn't say the "right" thing to console me - and I feel that way because in movies and TV, when the kids go to their moms with their problems, they always have like the right thing to say at the right time.

Anyway, I feel like there is actually a movie that touches on this theme in some way - the idea that what we see on TV and movies influences how we expect certain social situations to play out but then when they don't we freak out.

Any idea of any characters in any movies who exhibit that behavior?

Pic related.

I think I’m thinking of The Cable Guy. But, I feel like there was a scene in the movie I’ve apparently made up in my head where one guy tells the other that shit happens in movies cuz they’re movies and this is real life, etc etc.

Am I thinking of The Cable Guy or something else?

>Annihilation (2018) is a movie from the director of Ex Machina. You know Ex Machina, the best scifi movie made in forever? Annihilation stars an all female cast of characters who are scientists. None of the characters do stupid shit or make queef jokes. The movie is not based on a comic book. It's based on a book but not a fucking comic book. The movie is well crafted and does not treat the viewer like an idiot.

Nobody went to see it. Nobody has ever talked about this movie.

Had some cool visuals and concepts. Didn't like it though, felt like the scenes were often too drawn out and paced awkwardly. I get what it was trying to do but it just didn't work for me. None of the characters worked for me either, not because they were women but because they were pretty bland and kept dropping like flies. The same problem that Alien: Covenant had tbh. I also didn't like the ending.

It's worth a watch maybe, I wouldn't watch it again. I feel like it's a movie I should have liked since I enjoy movies like this. I enjoyed pic related, I enjoyed Stalker, In the Mouth of Madness, Event Horizon. All very similar movies where the cast is thrown into nightmare world.

So the boards are back up again after being down for almost a week. What the fuck have you been watching bruh??

>True Detective s3
Way better than season 2 but not as good as season 1. That's not to say this season hasn't been great, it's just been more of a slow burn. The finale airs this Sunday and I'm really looking forward to it.

>Doom Patrol
Only one episode out so far but it's pretty promising for a pilot. Having the antagonist being the narrator is fun and the show is meta without being Deadpool-on-head levels of Random XD. Some people are saying that it's already better than Titans after a single episode... I don't know about all that, but it definitely gives me hope for Swamp Thing coming out later this year.

>Umbrella Academy
Gave it a shot and I got bored 3 episodes in. I'm all for more comic shows that aren't from the Big 2, but not if they're like this. Not trying to hate on the show, maybe it just isn't for me, but it feels like that Wes Anderson X-Men parody already did it better. (Source btw: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UngE0qn3VRY )
