There’s something about Chloe Zhao’s directing that made this film feel so authentic almost like a documentary from using non-actors like Bob Wells playing himself, the locations that help portray isolation and the struggles Fern has to go through to maintain her van dwelling lifestyle, and using long tracking shots. Definitely need to watch Songs My Brother Taught Me and The Rider.Frances McDormand was a no brainer to win lead actress. I always thought of her as the antithesis of Meryl Streep since they’re both great actresses in their own right though McDormand’s roles are much more low key compared to Streep’s high profile roles and she shines in Nomadland.
