>This Is Us s01e11 - The Right Thing to Do

Well I can't say I was really surprised that Toby survived. Typical OMG is he dead or alive cliffhanger. I suppose that heart attack made him realize how much he loves Kate and now wants to marry her though it felt cliche. I will say I'm glad Kevin made the right decision to stick with Sloane instead of fall back to Olivia because let's face it, Sloane is a much better fit for Kevin not just to help him rebuild his acting career but to give his life some much needed stability. I wasn't really digging Randall's storyline at first with him feeling uncomfortable with William's sexuality and bonding with someone else in his dying days but I thought that William's heartfelt conversation with Randall about him wanting to not have Randall suffer through his death and wanting to be in a nursing home to spare him the pain was a good scene to really show that bond between them. And if there's one thing I most like about This Is Us is the flashback scenes with Jack and Rebecca because of how it shows different points in their lives before and during when they had kids putting Kevin, Kate and Randall's lives into perspective. Plus this show does a delicate job of balancing the feel good and emotional moments.

Went through the Eva rebuild movies at the end of my NGE binge. Second time I've watched everything and 3.0 still kind of irks me in a weird way. Time skip is odd and they dont really explain why Shinji and the other pilots look the same other than Asuka saying "its the Eva's curse". I feel like they could have just done a shorter time skip, maybe 3 years or something. Everything is way more serious too, the series and the other two movies had some comedy sprinkled in. I mean it fits with the tone of the movie but still it just feels like so much was changed from the rest of Eva, plus Misato is my favorite character and shes such a hardass in this, shes like Gendo lite. The super duper gay sexual tension with Kaworu and Shinji is strange too, shinji can be gay or straight I don't really care but all that came out of nowhere, but at least Kaworu was a bit more developed. In the series he got like what, 1 episode? Always felt rushed but im sure that was because of the whole budget debacle like the last few episodes.
Anyways I'm still excited for the fourth and final movie

Watched episode 3 of Jeff & Some Aliens. It's ok but I don't think it'll make it more than a season or two. Comedy Central's track record with animated series isn't that great (South Park & Futurama aside). Brickleberry was terrible but they kept it going to make Daniel Tosh happy.

I thought it was a surprisingly good season premiere and showing the backstory of the events leading up to the hosts taking over LA and with Snyder, Broussard and the Bowmans was the right decision to help fill in the blanks. They did a good job with this episode and the buildup to what happens was reminiscent of the first episode of Fear the Walking Dead.

it was decent. I went into it knowing nothing about it, and was . As far as melodramas go, it was good. It's a moody slow burn following a youth growing up poor and discovering(?) his homosexuality. Despite that general description, i feel it's enough to summarize the plot. But i'm happy it ended on a relatively sweet note.

Some pretty good episodes and storylines leading up to the season finale with the Unity Concert, Leslie's pregnancy and Tom trying to open his restaurant. Also Craig is a pretty obnoxious character tbh.

>This Is Us s01e12 - The Big Day

Sure this episode was basically a prequel to the first episode but I thought it helped lend a bit of backstory to what happened before the first episode like the struggles Dr. K was going through after losing his wife and Jack and Rebecca dealing with the pregnancy. In all I thought it was really good.

That 2 part season finale was really good for both its feel good moments as well as its comedic ones and the list of guest stars too. It was good to see the concert go well to help unify Pawnee and Eagleton and Duke fuckin Silver with that sax solo was awesome. Should be interesting to see how Leslie handles running a National Parks office in Pawnee.

Gonna watch the final season this weekend. And holy shit they actually made The Cones of Dunshire into a real game.

>Man Seeking Woman s03e03 - Horse

When this show incorporates real world events into Josh's love life, I think they do a very humorous job of that like with Mike being Edward Snowden and blowing the whistle on Josh's secrets only Lucy knew about and the Chilean Mine collapse making Mike and Lucy break the ice to make conversation. I also got a good laugh out of Mike's meeting with Josh and showing the pie charts of who they've been with and Methelda.

>Parks and Recreation s07e01-2 - 2017 and Ron & Jammy

I'm finally watching the final season, which is 2 years after I said I would in the season 7 thread. At first it felt a little weird with the time jump in the first episode and laying the groudwork with catching up with everyone and seeing Ron and Leslie's feud, Tom becoming a successful businessman, and April and Andy becoming a boring couple. They did get the Cubs winning the 2016 World Series right though.

This Is Us s01e13 - Three Sentences

A lot of dramas that I watch these days including this tend to introduce conflict in one way or another that drive the plot and stuff. This episode was a changeup from all that as there wasn't really any conflict and much more comfy while still packing the emotional moments this show provides. In particular, I really enjoyed Jack and Rebecca's story this week trying to manage three separate birthday parties. Those scenes with Randall telling Rebecca that he feels happy having his close friends show up to his party rather than the whole class and Jack posing like Madonna with Kate to cheer her up. And Sterling K. Brown still kills it as Randall on this show and his acting really shined this week, I was anticipating that Randall would get upset at William for making him get out of work but I'm glad that he embraced being able to spend his time with his dad, who doesn't have much time left. Kevin's story surprised me with that twist of him choosing his ex-wife Sophie over Olivia and Sloane as the person he wants to spend the rest of his life with. Hopefully it goes somewhere with them trying to reconnect as now there's an underlying motive of him going to New York. As for Kate, I am not really digging her character development and story right now. I just think it's cliche and one dimensional to try and make it all about her weight. Even more cliche is doing a love triangle with Toby and Luke but with fat people. Apparently as part of Chrissy Metz's contract, she's required to lose weight, which is an interesting clause but maybe it'll pay off depending on the direction this show goes with her character.

>>378246

>The Path s02e01 & 2 - Liminal Twilight & Dead Moon

The first two episodes of season 2 went up today. So far it's off to an intriguing start especially with Cal trying to manage getting the funds to buy the center in NYC and Sarah now knowing that he killed Silas. I suppose we'll also see where things go with Eddie and the consequences of his trip to Peru and that woman from his past whose back in his life now. I do like the show's building mythology of Meyerism and the effects of being in a cult-like religious movement, that aspect is handled really well and the strength of Paul, Monaghan and Dancy's role carry the show.

This show has some really strange cameos like dane cook and pauly shore and whitney cummings.
Also I've noticed it before but this show has a shit ton of product placement. Slim jims, carls jr, a bunch of cars, its crazy. Doesn't take away from the show and they're not super in your face about it (since its typical for men like the workaholics to love these things) but its definitely there.
Also alice still fine af hnnng

Product placement is more obvious when you watch live. The one where they get lost in the woods and they kept advertising the food they were eating while lost (maybe this is the slim jim one?) kept playing bumpers saying "This episode is brought to you with limited commercial interuption, thanks to SLIM JIM" (or whatever the fuck they were eating). Also, whenever a network says there will be "limited commercials", how come it always seems like there's just as many commercials as ever? Like when Walking Dead says it's an extended episode and then the episode is the same length, only the ads have doubled in size.

Lucy has been a welcome addition to the show's cast and a girlfriend to Josh. The fantasy elements in this episode were off the chart like the Where The Wild Things Are parody. Also that whole Anti-Lucy committee scene was hilarious.

It's not though. Typically on cable and network, hour long episodes are about 40-50 minutes. Extended episodes would be able 60-70 minutes give or take.

God damn Fiona is probably easily the most hatable female main character out of any show I've ever watched, except maybe behind Lori from The Walking Dead. She's just totally retarded, a dumb whore (and I like promiscuous women, so it's saying a lot for me to say that) and she just over and over again makes a cunt of herself. the expensive adult swim shows are always released slow (boondocks/venture bros) or get cancelled (korgoth/boondocks). plus the animation quality seems to improve every season. but it clearly has more time and sheer effort going into it than anything else on the network.

I actually haven't seen any of the sixth season past the first episode, I'm almost hesitant since once I've watched it, it's over and I'm out of eps for god knows how long. it's short too. plus i was kinda underwhelmed by that episode, the only times I laughed out loud were at dr reachmore and brock going TMI with the lasso of truth. that ending seemed out of character for dr girlfriend too. not sure how excited I am about her having an affair with a manatee as a major subplot for the season.

That series finale really hit all the right spots. It was emotional, it was happy, it was funny, and most of all, it had heart. For a show that critics wrote it off in its first season but completely turned it around, it really became one of network television's best comedies of this decade so far. Gonna miss this show.

Could they have gone the True Detective route and done a different time period with a different cast at the Knick but every two seasons? It wouldn't have been a bad idea but I do like the idea of seeing where the show's characters have gone after Thackery died.

I love how it juxtaposes the horror the human characters experience about being surrounded by these mysterious robots that could rip their flesh from their bones, and the horror the robot characters experience about being hounded all over the place by the commands of untouchable real humans that use them to play obscure games on the edges of their accessable memory.

I finished Mars. The end of episode 5 sort of irritated me. Really, someone who has no reason to do EVAs has access to the codes for the external door? And the external door isn't an airlock? It's just a door leading directly to the near-vaccuum. "You know, we just installed an everyday death hatch in the botany section, just in case you need it to advance the plot."

Was there some in fiction reason for all that and I just missed it? Or just lazy writing? It's been renewed and I'll be watching season 2 because it was still really solid. But, just that one scene.

Yeah I agree, and I think that was pretty sloppy, but most didn't really analyze it that much I imagine. But it does help to further the idea about mental health dangers in that kind of environment, in a dramatic way, so I give it a pass.
And that's cool, I'm glad it got renewed, I had figured that it was just gonna be a one season event type deal, and if so that ending would have irked me a bit. If it was just left open like that it would have just kinda felt like a 6 hour long NASA ad/promo.

Dude pretty much has a personality, The Beast, which feeds on people. That's why he's kidnapped the girls, so he can eat them. It seemed like he only ate people who he deemed deserving of it, though I can't remember his exact requirements. Anyway, when in Beast mode he becomes nearly invincible. Takes two shotgun blasts to the chest and walks it off, shit like that. The movie ends with a news report in a cafe where they call McAvoy's character The Horde and reference a train wreck from 15 years ago and the guy involved in that. Some chicks asks, loudly and to herself, what the guy's name was. Camera pans to Bruce Willis as he says, Mr. Glass. I'm guessing they're setting it up for The Horde to be Willis's enemy.

The scenes between Eddie and Hawk this week were kinda sad seeing how Hawk is becoming distant from Eddie as he becomes more involved in Meyerism and beginning his ascent up the ladder. What was really a kick in the balls is Eddie having to see Cal act as Hawk's new father figure. I am pretty intrigued though with Richard's investigation into Steve's death and now he suspects Cal was the man in the drawing that supposedly killed Steve, which we know that Eddie was the man in the drawing and Steve was struck by lightning and fell off the cliff.

The premiere was pretty dank
The space battle of the assault on the station linked to the Eros incident organism was actually pretty badass though it was just a minor battle. They use real physics unlike a lot of other sci fi shows, and the maneuvering was pretty damn cool and actually seems like what a battle like that might actually be like. The writers for the books and the series are pretty imaginative in the way they portray the future.
And what they found on the station just gives more questions. I was really shocked that Miller killed that guy, but can't really blame him since he's got that insane love for Julie Mao who he's never even met.
The politics is becoming really interesting and Avasarala is actually becoming a really interestings, somewhat likeable character. I'm intrigued to see what else happens when she gets a conversation with Fred Johnson.

Holy fucking shit nigguh, that ending.

I'm willing to bet that if William survives the Host uprising, he and Dolores will "find" each other again, fits the whole narrative idea of story loops, and now that Dolores has awakened "Wyatt" within her, I don't think she even considers William an evil person. Hell, looking at how things are now, William might end up becoming the damsel in distress, and Dolores the lonesome cowboy - that is, if he survives of course.

Wait are you saying The Flash has been ruined by time travel? That makes no sense. The Flash can go faster than light, so that automatically means that his stories involve time travel. FTL automatically means time travel is possible, either that or you have to trash causality or relativity.

I didn't mind when it was little time travel (season 1 had cool uses of it), but now they just retconned all the stories that made me care about the characters in the first place. And even if Barry eventually fixes the timeline and gets the OG characters back, it means this whole season gets retconned and is rendered filler trash boring shite. Either way, I stopped knowing what parts of the show to care about and feel detached when I watch it now.

Last few nights i've been watching a show called Ray Mears World of Survival before bed. Stumbled upon it after watching a video about eskimos building igloos, it was in the recommended section on youtube.
Interesting show, I love shit like this. Best thing about this one is its all about how they create their tools, build their homes, and how they obtain and prepare their food. Watched one about Samoans last night and those niggas can fish like CRAZY. Can also be weird/disgusting sometimes like this african tribe put cuts in this old dudes face and rubbed charcoal made from a local tree into it because apparently thats supposed to cure anything.

There was a caller who said he had been saying it IRL non-stop lately and I completely related. I've been saying it all the time and people don't necessarily get it but it can make a good punchline and get laughs. My friends were making me watch some cooking show last night and I was shitfaced mocking the cast like "I... I... I don't like parents putting their kids on reality TV." Then there was this little gay 8 year old boy and I say "I.. I don't like kids coming out of the closet so young" and everyone got mad at that point because i guess 8 year olds have human rights or some shit.

new ep of The Mick was really really good. It had the best elements of Always Sunny humor, but also took some unique directions that Always Sunny would never go, really solidifying the show as something other than just The Sweet Dee Spinofff. That final scene was really well directed, felt like a scene from Sopranos or Breaking Bad (like Jesse drinking that awkward glass of water tier stuff)

>The Path s02e04 - Red Eye

There was a lot of emotional trauma to be had in this episode whether it was Eddie coming to terms of having been under mind control, that woman who had unburdened herself, or Shawn questioning whether he should go or stay with Mary, this show really tackles how a cult like the Meyerist movement affects people in different yet profound ways. Not to mention Cal and Sarah now know the FBI is investigating them and someone working for them is among their followers. Should be interesting how Agent Gaines navigates that.

>This Is Us s01e14 - I Call Marriage

I think the take on marriage and being a theme in this episode was a bold choice considering how interconnected relationships are on this show and how they affect both parties. I mean you can see how Randall, Kevin and Kate are struggling with their own lives because Kevin trying to woo his ex-wife, Kate being caught up with Luke trying to hit on her and Toby interfering in her weight loss camp, and Randall struggling to deal with William's impending passing and having to split the accounts with Sanjay, things just aren't always looking up for the Piersons. I will say that I really liked Jack and Rebecca trying to not be like Miguel and his ex. That ending was really sweet with them re-reading their wedding vows.

I've always liked how this show portrays relationships and what couples like Josh and Lucy go through in a humourous yet surreal way and this episode was no exception. I certainly could relate to being in a rut of just doing the same thing with someone else instead of going out. The whole heist parody of going to the club was clever and the Indiana Jones parody was good and just what Lucy needed to find excitement in her life. Fortunately she realized she could do that with Josh and he realized that they need to get out more. Solid stuff this week though.

>Humans s01e01-4

Catching up on the first season before season 2 premieres on Monday. It's a pretty good so far and I've noticed the tonal and thematic similarities to Orphan Black (and Westworld to a lesser extent) concerning the exploration of the ethics of the shows subjects and showing it from all sides. I am still trying to understand if Leo is a human who altered himself with cybernetics to make himself more of a synth or a synth that injected human DNA into himself to make himself more human. I'd put it as AMC's third best show behind Better Call Saul and Halt and Catch Fire right now.

Well the show it is based on didn't have any trouble coming up with good ideas for s02. They should have just lifted that material rather than trying to use their feeble AMC minds to come up with unique directions, its like when Walking Dead goes off-comic for an arc.

>New Girl s06e16 - Operation: Bobcat

My girl friend was here so we watched this week's episode. Winston's proposal to Aly was awkward albeit cute with the whole bobcat thing and Jess having to read what Winston wanted to say to her. Best part of the episode was Gordon Ramsay's guest appearance though.

I've come to the conclusion that it's a hit or miss show and its humor mostly comes from its quirkiness and awkwardness involved with Jess and the gang. Not really up my alley but it would probably end up being a guilty pleasure if I was ever bored and wanted to binge another network comedy on Netflix.

>This Is Us s01e15 - Jack Pearson's Son

I honestly really liked this week's episode and I'm glad Kate called Duke out and turned down his advances, that guy was a selfish prick as much as I like the actor playing Ferg on Longmire. I figure that they're gonna stretch out the reveal of how Jack died with Kate finally unburdening herself to Toby even after he did in this episode. Probably a wise decision by him to postpone the wedding until they get to know each other better. I'll admit that she's grown on me more as they've done a better job writing her other than being fat and dealing with her weight.

Same with Kevin as they've been doing a better job getting more into how his past relationships have affected who he's become and the choices he's made whether it's "cautiously dating" his ex-wife or being scared that his play is gonna bomb and it'll ruin his career. The scene where he talked with Miguel who reminded him that he's Jack Pearson's son was very well done. Certainly one of his best scenes this season so far.

And god damn the scenes with Randall this week really got to me given all that he's experienced and been put through the ringer this season especially for what it built up to after what he had to deal with in this episode with his wife having to go to DC since her mom broke her hip, the thought of William dying when he's not there, and and that meeting not going so well for him. I also though the contrast of Kevin not being there for Randall when they were teens and then him making the decision to be with him at the cost of his play opening was a dumb but brave choice to make. Won't be surprised if Sterling Brown is up for an Emmy for his role on the show.

Besides Randall's storyline, Jack's has been my other one I've most been intrigued and who he was before he died. Like now he's been put into a stressful situation with Rebecca going on tour and having to take care of the kids thinking he can handle it. Unfortunately when he finds out that guy Bruce she's touring with was her ex-boyfriend. Jack had every right to be upset with Rebecca not telling him that Bruce was her ex but I did think that his jealousy is an indication of the deeper problems they have in their marriage. Could be why she and Miguel decided to get married after he got divorced and she became a widow.

>Difficult People s01e01 & 2 - Library Water & Devil's Three-Way

Just starting watching this last night. As much as I thought that Billy Eichner's role on Parks and Recreation felt too over the top and out of place on the show, his personality fits right into this one and it helps that he has such a good repoire with Julie Klausner, who created this show. The comedy is on point as is the pop culture ridden banter between them and I got a good laugh from a couple of lines. Billy and Julie are sort of like Jimmy and Gretchen in that they're shitty people but they're also endearing. Not to mention it also stars Dr. Venture so that's a plus.

I don't mind loud stuff, and it was tolerable, but holy shit every car constantly at max RPM and all the crashing for minutes in a row was kind of annoying. Theres a shootout where he's being chased and like 10 people are shooting at his back from maybe 10 yards away with automatic weapons and it felt pretty cheesey.

It was fun. I do kind of wish they made his movements a bit slower and had the action play out more realistically than him running around with auto aim and everyone taking turns shooting at him

I love everything about 70s cinema, especially animated features. The animation, the sound effects and music, the rudimentary but creative visual effect techniques. This film is a sellers example of it. The opening sequence is done in like lice action shadow acting to look like it's still an "animated" sequence. Some of the animation is goofy and imperfect as it's all hand done and adds a certain charm. Even tho I was born in the 90s, the animation takes me back to the feeling of a simpler time of art and animation in a decade I find to have a very gritty but charming culure of art and social outlooks from what I feel of it. I'm decently a fan of Baskhi's works.

I wish I had that Black Coludrun movie that one was really fun and relaxing to me too!

The Young Pope was fantastic.

I laughed, I cried. I laughed, and I cried. But this story had so many holes. If the European theater still relies on so much ex machina it's no wonder the western media rules the world.

10/10 ep and I rarely give that to Bob's Burgers. Bob's motivation for doing something stupid was sound and his line delivery was spot-on. Not too much Linda. A lot of Gene and Tina. Coulda used more Louise but frankly I think that about every episode.

Didn't have a chance to post what I watched these last few days:

>Split

Saw it on Saturday, it was a pretty crazy film and James McAvoy playing those different personalities was quite impressive. Wasn't expecting the Beast to cannibalize both girls and him just hugging his psychologist to death was cringe inducing by how bone-cracking it was. Can't wait for The Unbreakable Split of whatever the fuck M Night will call it when it happens.

>Difficult People s01e03 & 4 - Pledge Week & The Courage of a Soldier

These episodes were a slight step down but still fairly enjoyable especially for the HBO references in episode 4 and the whole Children's Menu restaurant idea, which while good, was bad in execution.

Between this and BoJack Horseman, I'm surprised they even referenced John From Cincinnati. I feel like I'm the only one that even liked that show. I'm gonna rewatch it this summer though since it'll be 10 years since it ended.

>Big Little Lies episode 1 - Somebody's Dead

No one was talking about this but the first episode was decent. I like how they're flashing back and forward between before and after the murder happened with the police interviews interspliced to help give more perspective to the show's characters and possible suspects. It's got a great cast no doubt about it. What did you guys think?

>Son of Zorn s01e13 - All Hail Son of Zorn

The finale was good and seeing Zorn and Craig team up was hilarious. They make a good pair. Also Alan being a weirdo and embarrassing himself is one of the show's highlights trying to impress Layla.

I'm unsure whether it's gonna picked up for a second season (I'd be surprised if it was) but I think this is a more of a show that would belong on Adult Swim rather than on Fox. It did at least slowly improve over the course of the season though ratings haven't been as good as Fox's other hit freshman comedy The Mick.

>Wasteland

Watched a documentary about Vik Muniz, "who travels to the world's largest landfill, Jardim Gramacho outside Rio de Janeiro, to collaborate with a lively group of catadores of recyclable materials, who find a way to the most prestigious auction house in London via the surprising transformation of refuse into contemporary art." It was emotional but also uplifting seeing how his art helps positively influenced the catadores to being more than just garbage pickers and changing their lives for the better.

Just got done watching it and I thought The Young Pope was fantastic as well. Jude Law was so damn good and absolutely nailed the role. Like seriously he was just dropping awesome monologues after monologues - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=591n8GKvyaY

I really liked how we see Lenny/Pius XIII's development and transformation over the course of the season and while I did think there were some things that were seemingly wrapped up quick and not really expanded upon during the season like Vioello trying to sabotage the Pope and being less prominent in the last couple episodes considering that he played a good foil to Lenny. Nevertheless, I appreciated what it set out to accomplish and its portrayal of a younger as well as an American Pope.

I'm glad it's not just a limited series and they're already developing a second season depending on where they go after Lenny seemingly died after making that speech.

the way people talk about steven universe I would that most episodes of it suck at this point. I watched up until they introduced the blue chick who controlled water, but after that I lost interest. It isn't bad, but it's so slow, the extended cast is uninteresting, and it rarely made me laugh (though there were a few big laughs). the bits seemingly putting an overarching story together were interesting, and made me curious about where all these gem people come from, but it looks like there's a 1-10 story to standalone episode ratio. I can't slog through that if the inbetween bits aren't funny. also the fight scenes dont seem to have any umph to them. they clearly have a good budget going into this but there's no impact behind the punches.

Maybe watch it like X-Files or anime, with an internet guide to skipping filler. With shows like X-Files and Steven Universe (not anime though) there's some good filler, and the guides usually make note of the episodes that are critically acclaimed but also don't move the plot along.

Also, it sounds like you went into Steven Universe expecting a traditional cartoon with laughs and gags. The show almost never makes me laugh and I am fine with this, I watch for the trippy visuals and the feels. The episodes that attempt to be funny are almost always horrible in SU.

>also the fight scenes dont seem to have any umph to them
The fights are best when there's flashing lights everywhere and crazy music playing, the sensory overload makes up for the wussy battles.

I'd say this clip from s1e2 has everything that makes the show enjoyable for me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAWQhU7EjJA If these moments didn't hook you on the show, it might not be for you.

Oh yeah, weed helps.

it's funny you should link that episode, because it has one of the few moments where I did actually laugh. the throwing amethyst bit they refernece in that clip was pretty great. That clip itself is good too, I expected every episode to be like that one and was disappointed. If there's guides to watching it I may have to seek one out. I watched the two episodes of the season and they were okay but it was slow. There wasn't a whole lot that really happened in terms of plot aside from Niska uploading Elster's sentience code and infecting a few synths and Carrie Ann-Moss' character trying to figure out the code. I hope it picks up and we start to really see the consequences of that new code having as more synths become infected and Niska is gonna be tried in a court as a human.

The ideas this show comes up to portray relationships is some funny shit like Josh doing a panel for his upcoming proposal like it's a movie and Lucy acting like Sherlock Holmes trying to deduce Josh's proposal and shitting on Dr. Watson. My favorite part from these two episodes was when they had the bomb squad deliver the wedding invitation to his mom and when Josh said she was Jewish everyone ran off. I've said before Katie Findlay is a welcome addition to cast and plays off Jay Baruchel so well, hopefully she sticks around.

I Don't Feel at Home in this World Anymore

I'm not sure what I was expecting from this exactly, but it wasn't a comedic noir feel-good movie. so being taken by surprise like that, I really enjoyed this one. It kept me interested and enthralled the entire time and left smiling at the end, couldn't ask for more. the ending shootout had some impressive gore too, lmao when that throwing star landed in Levy's face and the shipwrecked shotgun blew up on her

I recommend avoiding the trailer if you're interested as it has some scenes from the ending that lose their effect without the gradual escalation from the movie.

This was another art documentary I watched. It's about Tim Rollins and his program to teach art to at-risk teens while also educating them on the literature they're portraying on the canvas. I thought it did a good job to show how the teens are affected by the program and their personal lives outside of it and stuff like one of the students dying after being held hostage and getting shot execution style and another thinking that he was HIV positive (was actually negative).

>Big Little Lies episode 2 - Serious Mothering

This miniseries has been shaping up to be really good so far. There's a lot of intrigue and hidden layers beneath white upper class suburbia and first world problems leading up to the murder. I do like how the police interviews help to shape the show's perspective on its starring characters and possible suspects. The star cast certainly carries it and Shailene Woodley and Nicole Kidman's performances have been really good so far though I can't shake seeing Adam Scott without Amy Poehler, man I miss Parks & Rec. The show in a way reminds me of Bloodline season 1 in showing glimpses of the future but building up the mystery of what had already taken place.

yeah, the little girl from stranger things is going to be in it too
there will probably be a teaser or setup for versus Kong in it though, judging by how they're already teasing those 3. I'm just eager to see who Godzilla is going to be facing in the sequel. If its another original monster like the MUTOs then ehhh, I mean cmon they know damn well we just want to see new versions of classic kaijus
Maybe the end scene in Skull Island means that the Godzilla sequel will have Ghidorah or Mothra

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. This movie was god damned hilarious and awesome. Gave me lots of Big Lebowski or Fargo vibes, with a hefty dash of the old ultraviolence at the end there, and I can definitely see this being one of my new favorite cult classics. Check this one out niggas.

Also, finished Moonlight. It was good. Not amazing, but still a solid drama/romance. It just happens to be about a guy who is black and gay, but I thought that was ultimately tangential to the overall theme of the movie, and if that is what's still hanging you up over it, you probably have deeper problems. Being a dude struggling to define your identity in an environment that seems determined to alienate you is something I assume most guys can identify with, regardless of whether you're gay or straight, black or white, living in a gangland inner city or bumfuck rural Trumpistan. Also I subconsciously replaced the "Chiron" with "Omar" every time I heard it, and pretended I was watching a prequel to The Wire. It works.

Bump While Watched - Ran (1985)

The movie of the day for #mtv on irc, I decided to give this Japanese adaption of Shakespeare's King Lear a go.

Never having understood King Lear, I gained understanding from the most unlikely of adaptation's, a Japanese one. This is by far the best film adaptation I've seen of the classic play. With drama, amazing Shogun era battles, wit and woe, Ran is sure-fire entertainment!

I'm watching Breaking Bad. I just got to the part where Walt has a beer with Jessie's girlfriend's dad and he gives him the advice about not giving up on family. This inspires Walt to return to Jessie's place where he finds them both KOed on drugs. He accidentally rolls his girlfriend onto her back while trying to wake him up and she starts to choke. You see Walt initially reflexively go to help her, but then he reconsiders and just stands there and watches her die because she had been blackmailing him and trying to take Jessie away. I fucking love how this series of events unfolded. The juxtaposition between the good and the evil is great and I love seeing Walt descend farther and farther into the depths of hell with each episode.

I just finished binging the last two seasons of Bates Motel to catch the final season live, but I have to say season 4 was a disappointment. season 3 was pretty fantastic all around, but with season 4 Norma seemed to be making some real progress with herself and with her relationship to Norman finally having him committed. but then she just kind of changes her mind and goes right back to full on denial and believing Norman over everyone else. it didn't really make sense or flow well for me. then him finally killing her felt really anti-climactic, I was sure he'd end up violently killing her in a rage brought on by her "leaving" him for the sheriff, but nope. just felt kinda lame.

anyway, I have the first three eps of season 5 downloading now, hopefully their Psycho adaptation makes up for it.

>Big Little Lies episode 3 - Living the Dream

This was a really strong episode especially the scenes of Celeste and Perry's therapy session and Jane telling Madeline about her rape. The acting has been great as well with the three leads especially Nicole Kidman. I like its format and the police interviews help give the events going on perspective on each of the show's characters. There are some first world problems addressed on the show but universal problems like domestic violence for example are handled really well and probably better than how most other shows would handle it. It'll probably garner plenty of Emmy and Golden Globe nominations.

>Bob's Burgers s07e11 - A Few 'Gurt Men

This was a fun episode seeing the kids be part of the mock trial and Bob and Linda with Jimmy, Teddy and Mort trying to catch the scammer. My favorite part was when Gene was acting like one of those southern gentleman lawyers.

>The Last Man on Earth s03e10 - Got Milk?

I was surprised to see how the midseason premiere turned out showing what happened before the virus outbreak (lol'd at Trump's administration dying) and from the different perspective from a different character, which ended up being the one with the drone. It was actually one of the show's darkest episodes but I think given the show's premise, it needed that. Plus Kristen Wiig is a great addition to the show's cast.

Still gotta catch up on Bates Motel and will bump the show thread when I do.

Saw Finding Dory on netflix so I watched about half of it last night before bed, I didn't catch it when it was in theaters. Get it? "catch". because they're fucking fish
Anyways it seems decent, although Dory's memory schtick got old after the first 20 minutes and it already isnt as memorable as the first. A lot of good VAs and i'm glad they were able to get most of the main cast back together except for the obvious like Nemo because hes aged and sounds different. With pixar movies it seems like the VAs are always dedicated to giving a good performance even if they are regularly live action actors, I was surprised to hear Idris Elba playing a walrus and he was pretty funny.
One negative I can say so far though is the pacing in the first act is awful. First ten minutes Dory and the gang are like alright lets go we need to find my parents, ten minutes later they're in california. Felt so rushed.

It's got a bunch of good actors in it who I recognized from other roles (McNulty from The Wire, Proctor from Banshee, Ser Davos from GoT, the main kid in The Night Of) and it's lead by Fassbender. BWB The Loud House

Been watching this cartoon recently. I really like it! I read that it was a Sunday funnies panel first that became a show, which is awesome. I love when good print cartoonists get to get shows. Not only that, but a cartoonist from local to me Royal Oak, Michigan (also the home of Bruce Campbell).

The concept is simple enough and they deliver some really good characters with it. I love Luna, Lucy, Lori, and Lincoln. Lincoln reminds me of Charlie Brown or something. The whole show seems to have an auburn feel to it like Royal Oak has, and also along with the Charlie Brown thing, it has a sorta Charles Schulz Peanuts vibe, but with a more modern tone. Seemed almost like it took place in the 70's until I saw cell phones and computers.

The humor is pretty good and actually slips in a few pretty adult jokes.

I really like it, good to see Nick and CN are still making good cartoons, even Disney too with Gravity Falls.

>Man Seeking Woman s03e09 & 10 - Cake & Blood

These final two episodes of the season really does encapsulate how much this show had tremendously improved with the addition of Lucy to the show as well as the culmination of her and Josh's love and getting married by season's end. The show's humor is really on point being able to come up some really hilariously surreal analogies to love and relationships. I think it works well as a series finale if it doesn't get renewed but if it does, I'm looking forward to seeing where the show goes from here.

>This Is Us s01e17 - What Now?

A fine penultimate episode before the season finale but obvious filler in between a really strong episode and what should be a very emotional finale. Those feels when Randall comforted Kate after Beth gave William's toast and told her about his dream. At least the show did have the dignity to have Jack turn down Heather instead of the cliche guy gets drunk and cheats on his wife cliche. I also think that Kevin's whole deal with the play and coming to New York to get back with Sophie just doesn't feel earned and for him to put on a successful play and then have Ron Howard call him (with no disregard for Sloane's feelings after bailing on opening night) is just bullshit. Also if they're really gonna drag out Jack's death to season 2, it better be worth it.

>The Path s02e08 - The Return

It was an okay episode, probably the weakest episode of the season so far in my opinion. I don't really know what to make of Eddie's vision of the garden and suddenly realizing he needs to help the movement and Cal's trip to LA to get Rebecca's daughter to join the movement to get the money to help save them from foreclosure. I did like Sarah talking with Brenda and finding out that Steve abused Cal and then using the unburdening tapes to blackmail people into perhaps giving them money. And Hawk's character development this season has been really good and the actor that plays him has really come into his own.

>>380245

10 episodes into MMPR S1.

This show has held up so well, I consider it the greatest kid's show of all time. Action-packed, funny as fuck, little weird, and great messages about teamwork and all that shit. Kimberly is also the best first waifu for any kid. She's so hot, it hurts.

watching Love season 2
First season was enjoyable, although not as funny as you'd expect from Apatow. It is really cozy in an odd way.
Apatows daughter cant act for shit though, please judd stop putting her in your movies and shows.
Its also still hard to believe that a dime like Gillian Jacobs would hook up with a guy that looks like the epitome of jews smooshed into one human even though they try to make gillian look plain in the show. Even with the minimal make up shes gorgeous

>Big Little Lies episode 4 - Push Comes to Shove

You guys are really sleeping on this miniseries. Fantastic acting performances and the soundtrack is awesome too. The subject matter itself is dark but its approach is handled in very much a realistic yet honest way like Perry and Celeste's abusive marriage, Jane dealing with being raped and her son's reputation being dragged through the mud, and Madeline having an affair and still being hung up on her ex. All on top of a murder mystery, which aside from the police interviews, it's not the main focus here.

>American Crime s03e01

I watched the season premiere on Sunday and I like how this season has a larger focus and scope than in the previous two seasons, which focused on one particular crime but this season is about modern-day slavery like forced labor, forced servitude and sex trafficking and already the premiere laid the groundwork for what really could be an emotional yet very topical season given the recent immigration ban. It's just so fucked up seeing that girl and that Mexican live in squalor and not really having a choice but to do the work for little pay.

I feel bad for Gillian when I see ehr promoting that show on the absolute WORST talk shows. Like, she cant get on the Howard Stern Show so she does the Wrap Up Show (basically the Talking Dead for the Stern show) and has to pretend to find Baba Booey's bad jokes funny.

Am planning on watching season 2 next weekend with my friend but it's a decent show and it does fill the void of Togetherness not being on anymore for me given their similarities though Gus and Mickey are younger and dating whereas on Togetherness Brett and Michelle are already married with two kids.

It used to be glorious, but I get why Howard changed it. For a spell, it was becoming better than the Stern show because it became where all the side-cast went to make big revelations. Now the main show cut back on celeb guests and does a lot more staff bits again. Wrap Up sucks dicks these days though, I only rarely listen to it, while back in the day it was mandatory listening.

I started watching through Parks and Rec again and am about halfway through the 3rd season. It's one of my favorite shows, but I haven't watched it beginning to end since it was airing. There's already been moments where I've teared up a bit, so I can tell the finale is gonna melt me into a puddle again.

It's cool seeing throwaway shit as early as season 2 that end up being plot points in later seasons. Examples: When Leslie's on a date with Will Arnett, he says she can do triplets right off the bat when giving her a cat scan. Tom mentions wanting to open Tom's Bistro as one of his plethora of entrepreneur ideas

I'm constantly being reminded of why it's one of my favorite shows. There's just so much heart to it.

Watched Resident Evil : The Final Chapter. It was.. okay? felt like they set it up for another sequel, But it was really nice having them revisit the first movie to a certain degree, actually i wouldve preferred them to visit it a little bit more? i guess im just one of those nostaglia people. But yeah, kind of predictible in places, kinda "never seen that coming" in other places, It was alright. not great, not bad, but it was a pretty alright film. Like i didnt see the game of thrones dude clone killing the original guy and i honestly didnt see that guy to be the spy either. Kinda got a vibe that the old lady was the little girl and also got the vibe that alice was the little girl too, i kind of wish she died at the end... i dunno.

Also watching Sons of Anarchy up to S02E10 Its actually a really good show, i downloaded it for my dad, but decided to watch it and yeah, its a pretty good show. really enjoy the feel of it and the character development and ive hit that point where i know who is who and what kind of person they are and all that. Good show.

Iron Fist is now up on Netflix.
I'm 4 episodes deep. It's a pretty good show, but the opening episodes are pretty slow and the actors who play the Michum siblings aren't that good. Pretty stiff at times. And they don't completely shy away from the mystic stuff, they're just sorta sticking it in the back seat right now. Perhaps a new director will explore it more in season 2.

But critics imo have overstated the shows faults. It's not bad, if you like the other 3 shows. I'm hype for Defenders.

he probably hasn't touched a woman in years due to fear of them being killed by aku once he finds out jack has a girlfriend. it's hard enough worrying about getting attacked by robot assassins every minute of the day without having someone else to protect as well. the thought of a woman who could defend herself may have overtooken his ability to be rational, and aku would likely know this from years of manipulating other humans. but he made it juuuust obvious enough to make it amusing for himself that jack still fell for it. that's my hypothesis anyways.

Steve Dildarian, the creator of The Life and Times of Tim, has a pilot on Amazon Prime right now called The New V.I.Ps
I know a few people on this board loved the 3 seasons of Tim so I was just giving a heads up, I'm going to watch it right now.
I'm not entirely sure if you even need prime to watch it, I logged in with a non-prime account and there was an option to watch it for free

I watched The Fly (1986) for the first time last night. Everyone hypes it as scary, but I thought it was fucking hilarious. Jeff "retard" Goldblum gets drunk and fuses himself with a fly, then knocks some bitch up with his fly baby. Hope she gets that abortion ASAP. Reminded me of that weird episode of Masters Of Horror called Sick Girl, I see now that it took inspiration from the Fly (fusing romantic comedy with body horror)

Catching up on this past week:

>Bob's Burgers s07e12 - Like Gene for Chocolate

Gene episodes don't fail to deliver and I thought this one was good especially that monologue about candy and trying to change back the formula was a good scene. The Bob and Teddy subplot trying to get the golf balls was goofy but Bob and Teddy's odd couple friendship is one of my favorite parts of the show.

>The Last Man on Earth s03e11 - The Spirit of St. Lewis

I was not ready for Lewis dying in a fiery plane crash. The show's dark comedy is on point though like the funeral scene afterward. And Melissa is still acting crazy, which honestly has made her character much three dimensional and not as unlikeable. And Gail is alive! Can't wait to see how she comes back.

>Big Little Lies episode 4 & 5 - Push Comes to Shove & Once Bitten

They keep upping the intensity here and shit is getting real like that car accident Madeline was involved with, Celeste's therapy session and unburdening herself about being abused and her therapist picking up on it, Jane confronting the man who could be Ziggy's father and so forth. At first I wasn't sure if I was gonna like it after the first episode but it sucked me into the mystery and the drama. These last two episodes are shaping up to be big given what it's leading up to.

>This Is Us s01e18 - Moonshadow

I know people were criticizing the season finale but I really liked it for how it not only showed Jack and Rebecca's relationship in the aftermath of Jack coming to Rebecca's gig and punching out Bruce but also leading up to how they first met. I do wish we had seen more of Kevin, Kate ad Randall in the present but it was what it was. I know they said that they weren't going to show Jack's death until the middle of next season, possibly as its midseason finale, but I'm interested to see how they explain it.

There's a ton of shows from last night I gotta catch up on in Bob's Burgers, TLMOE, The Walking Dead, Into the Badlands, Feud and American Crime. Though first I have to catch up on Humans and Taboo this week along with last week's Legion and The Expanse.
