Any movies that have the same feel and atmosphere as The Revenant?

Depends on which feels you're looking for, Aguirre popped into my head first, just because it has a lot of quiet moments and men losing to wilderness... but the jungle this time. No revenge fantasy though, really.

Another thing that pops to mind is Barry Lyndon, not because it's similar, but because Kubrick filmed it entirely in natural light, like Revenant.

Barry Lyndon is probably the best looking movie I've ever seen.

Definitely not my favorite Kubrick movie though.

I've been meaning to watch Barry Lindon for a long time. What is it like? Is it really similar to The Revenant? Also, after looking up Aguirre, which I had never heard of, that looks pretty awesome. I may have to check it out.

The Revenant is a realy great movie btw. Definitely up there among Leo's best works. That's saying a lot because every role he gets he does a stellar job. With this role he really went all in and pulled it off flawlessly.

Off the top of my head I can't really think of many movies with a similar atmosphere. The Road (2007) had a really desolate, bleak, and treacherous feel that isn't really all that similar to The Revenant, but the intense heroes journey that is undertaken is similar and there are some similar themes.

True Grit (2010) could be said to be similar as it is around the same time period and deals with some similar bad guys.

The Gray has a similar man vs. nature theme and I thought it was a pretty dope movie. Walkabout (1971) also has a similar man vs. nature theme and it is a superbly shot and technically beautiful film.

It's hard to come up with any movies that are very similar to The Revenant..

How about True Grit?

Agreed. I actually really like Barry Lyndon. I admit it is really slow and boring but i a weirdly pleasing way.

Barry Lyndon was shot with lenses with an f-stop of /0.7. Fastest lens you could get and they still reign supreme to this day.

The Terror (series) has a lot of the same vibes at times. They're searching for the northwest passage and their boat gets stuck in the ice. It's about them trying to survive in the arctic and there is also a bear but that's all I will say.

I watched Into the Wild yesterday and it's somewhat similar. But if you're a survivalist you might not be able to empathize with the main character because he's an absolute retard and it's amazing he managed to live that long.
