I wish I had your optimism when it comes to cynical cashgrab reboots of 80s franchises.

I wonder if they'll incorporate unused footage from the first 2 into the film somehow. So that they can interact with their younger selves. It would be simple enough with today's technology to do at least a quick scene where they're all interacting and it appears seamless.

I always thought it was funny how Bill and Ted's Excellent adventure was a pretty bogus movie but Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey was an excellent movie

It's not cynical, Alex Winter has been trying to get this movie made for like 15 years at least. It's also not a reboot, it's about Bill & Ted as middle-aged parents being unable to write the perfect song.

Think they'll have a scene where they use fags as a slur? ;)
Or will it be a scene where the message of the film is summed up when Bill and Ted have a heart to heart with their kids and tell them they can be whatever they want to be and don't have to conform to gender identitarianism?

lol notice the writer doesn't seem to know why they're making the film!
https://youtu.be/6XI3tKLBNz4?t=57
rediscovering... what......... what they're about....
wow so inspiring! what energy, what excitement.
Oh geez, they have to write a song and it affects their kids and their marriages!
In the immortal words of evil Bill and Ted:

If the film is about people trying to discover what they're about, doesn't it make sense to have a writer who's on the same journey as he writes it?

Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure was pure trash. I rewatched it there not too long ago, but goddamn there is literally zero humor. It's not even entertaining.

I'm not even trying to troll here, like i'm open to suggestions/perspective on why some may think it's worthy of its cult status. I like Keanu, I like the light watching late 80's films and their aesthetic, but it just feels like a vastly inferior, neutered, disney version of Wayne's World (which is great).

This remake will not bode well. Convince me?

Man, I hated Mike Myers in the 90s purely because of the Wayne's World skits and then the movies. The only thing that redeemed him for me was So I Married an Axe Murderer.

If you look closely during the scene where the airplane is flying them to wherever you can actually see its a little toy sized plane attached to a straw being moved up and down in comically obvious fashion. Those movies were intentially lowrate. I feel sorry for anybody criticizing them in seriousness.

Also i love waynes world have never seen bill n ted and will be checkin em out before seeing this movie. Likely going to fkn rule tbh fuck all ya’ll

I have low expectations for any classic comedy revival but idk it could beat the odds. I think it all just depends on who they recruit.

Hopefully they get some real talent behind the camera and it's not a cash grab. It would be a shame to drag this series through the mud.

But, i think i can put some faith in Keanu's judgment. He hasn't let me down.

Being intentionally low rent doesn't excuse you from not being funny. Wayne's World fucking sucks and 90% of the humour is just presenting Canadian stereotypes out of context to Americans alongside dumb and dumber tier jokes.

The Bohemian Rhapsody scene from Waynes World alone is reason Waynes World is going to be remembered more than Bill n Ted my friends. I still quote Wayne’s World, I still have friends who randomly ask me “hey whats that movie where they go SCHWING SCHWING when they see a hot chick? Can you show me that movie sometime?” ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Am I the only person who doesn't GET the love for these movies? I like plenty of dumb comedies and 80's teen movies, so it's not that it ISN'T in my wheelhouse.

I just don't find the characters any good, they're literally carbon copies of each other like Beavis and Butthead, and they aren't funny. Rufus is the best character in the movies. I'll take Dumb and Dumber or a Jay and Silent Bob movie like Dogma or Mallrats over this.

As for why they're rebooting this after all these years? Doubly clueless.

Waiting for the new Wayne's World..

They should do a good job on this film, it doesn't have to be great just don't make it worse than "good"

It gives me hope for a third Ace Ventura to form a trilogy. But Jim Carrey won't do that I bet :(

Jim would only do it if he could make it dark and subversive. Ace ends up in mental asylum for the criminally insane. It's revealed that no one believes he can talk to animals, and that after his last case in africa, he "snapped". He killed a client and then went on the run, more and more uncanny events happen until we're led to the final conclusion of the film, Jim tells the therapist, while rasing his head from a stupor, grin on his face, "I win" and then the wall BURSTS OPEN as rhinos CHARGE through it, and it's understood that the bird Jim has been talking yo through the bars for the entire film possibly could understand him, and went to get the rhinos to rebell at the zoo and make a beeline through the forest to get to Jim in time, before they electroshocked him.

We also get glimpses into Ace's childhood and the physical and sexual abuse he suffered at the hands of his father, who was a big game hunter. One night, while Ace sat in the corner, his father was torn apart by the families dogs. A freak accident they called it.

I thought it was pretty ballsy, not just having a trans character but having her as the villain- and making her hot and in a position of power until the big reveal. How to make a trans villain without transphobia?

I'm not 100% on the racism one either, but then I found both the trans lady and the black lady attractive.

Thats pretty wild of you to say. I spoke to a rhino in real life (met him at a bar) and he told me that ace ventura, through his comedic depiction, helped raise awareness about the problems facing rhinos. Did you know they are endangered?
