The big night is almost here folks, let's get some suggestion lists going here. Currently I'm planning on:
Trick R Treat
Hocus Pocus
The Video Dead
Night Of The Creeps
Couple this with beer pizza and candy and we're in for a pretty enjoyable Halloween.

Honestly disappointed in everything I've seen lately. Real intense horror movies are hard to find these days.

I'll recommend The Frighteners. I'd say it's perfect for casual Halloween viewing since it gets dark but the tone stays weirdly light. It stars Michael J. Fox in his last good film role plus Jeffrey Combs at his Jeffrey Combsiest.

Event Horizon is solid. I can't believe it's directed by the Resident Evil guy.

Sounds like a waste of Halloween, OP. Unless you've got guests or a chick coming round then ditch the comfy stuff we've all seen dozens of times and watch some Italian shit from the 70s and 80s or some video nasties or something.

I'm mostly interested in stuff that fits the spirit of Halloween; fun, lighthearted and spooky. I assumed Hocus Pocus was a dead giveaway about that.

What I vastly prefer is to make up a play list of good Halloween specials from your favorite TV series and watching those. I find its much easier to watch than a bunch of movies and you get a lot more variety and some nostalgia. It also gives you more breaks to take a piss, smoke, eat, etc without pausing something. I mean, there is 28 episodes of just The Simpsons Tree House of Horror.

That could work with anthology shows too.
Like a best of of twilight zone, make it cheesy with tales from the crypt, or nostalgic with goosebumps and are you afraid of the dark.

There's tons of horror/scifi shows like this, with varying quality and tone.

Wow I must have seen that episode of goosebumps 10 times and forgot about it until now

Its probably the most famous and most aired. Its also the first episode aired.

Is there any episode of Scooby Doo that is scary?

Zombie Island is kinda scary for the fact that the zombies are the good guys all along and the seemingly good people turn into weird cat people.

Witch's Ghost is still my favorite Scooby Doo film, and one of my favorite Tim Curry roles, but I wouldn't say it's scary.

Aside from Zombie Island and Witch's Ghost, there's The Scooby Doo Project. It's a parody of The Blair Witch Project that CN made to show between episodes of a 24-hour Scooby Doo marathon last century. It's fairly meta and makes fun of the show and the horror genre in general.

Mystery Inc is fun but too much sci-fi & supernatural stuff happens for my taste.
