what radio shows and podcasts are good, especially in comedy. I've always listened to Howard Stern when driving but apparently the giant pussy is retiring from radio because he claims it's "bad for his mental health". God what a fucking girl. Anyway, fuck him, what show should I replace him with?

Cum Town for new content, Ron & Fez and Opie & Anthony for backlogs, Bill Burr I guess. Street Fight's godly, as some ITT have recommended. Chapo's in that vein but can become grating. Revolutions, In Our Time, and Hardcore History for historical/intellectual pods; StarTalk radio is interesting too but I haven't listened for ages.

haha OP here, yeah I realized the next week that Stern was bullshitting about retiring. I recently went down the rabbit hole that is /r/howardstern and learned all about who Marci Turk is and her role in making the show become the shitshow it is today, and now every bit feels scripted and/or forced. Which I can accept, I just need to swallow the pill that the show is basically wrestling now IE organized drama.

And Brent is fucking retarded, I love when Rapaport fucks with him. Brent really is vile and doesn't realize we're all laughing at him and not cheering him on.

And here's my theory on Brent's "lie". I think he's a moron but not lying. Remember when Robin looked in his phone and said he had no honor? I think that she saw texts where he promised this girl that he wouldn't tell the radio audience that he fucked her, and Robin thought he was a dick for lying to her about that so she refused to corroborate his claims about having fucked her. That caller was clearly just an angry girl who was pissed Brent didn't call her back for a 2nd hookup.

I thought that at first, but changed my mind on the basis that Robin saw something in those texts and if it had been in any way rapey, she would have flipped her shit and called the cops on his fat ugly ass. When she said he "had no honor" it struck me as something you would say about a guy who blows off a broad after he fucks her and also lies to her about it, you wouldn't say Bill Cosby "has no honor", youd call him "a piece of fucking shit"

The absolute best and in-depth videogame music podcast is hosted by comedian Brent Weinbach and Rob F Switch. It is called The Legacy Music Hour and it specifically covers the 8-bit and 16-bit eras. No remixes, no covers, no video game inspired music -just pure, original music from the NES, SNES, Genesis and others. It is insanely enjoyable.
Brent Weinbach also cohosts another podcast with comedian and editor Doug Loussenhop of Tim and Eric fame called The Poundcast.
He also hosts a solo podcast called Pointed Questions which is a series of in-depth and offbeat interviews.

There's also the doughboys podcast where the two hosts review chain restaurants, including fast food restaurants, fast casual restaurants, and sit-down restaurants usually with a comedian guest.
Anything with Paul F. Tompkins is worth listening to.

There is an Earwolf podcast known as How Did This Get Played with Heather Anne Campbell in which the comedian hosts and a guest play and discuss the very worst video games from their youth and in general.

Finally for non-comedy general philosophy there is Sam Harris' podcasts Waking up and Making Sense. Sam Harris is a neuroscientist, philosopher, and best-selling author who frequently has guests of similar clout.

I mostly listen to podcasts hosted by comedians or improvisors. I'm not a fan of YouTube personalities and their high school-tier humor and incredible obsession with social politics. I've found that you can deduce almost everything you need to know by looking at a fanbase.

Grandmas virginity is a podcast Justin Roiland made with so.e friends before he got Rick and Morty famous. Its hit or miss but a lot of the episodes are absolutely hilarious, especially the four loko episode.

His podcast sucks but he gets the occasional great guest.

My go to every week for years has been Your Mom's House. A married comedian couple talk shit about each other and find these great little ear worms/inside jokes. The quality has gone down in the past two years as they've gotten more popular and therefore busier but it's still quality. It works better as a video podcast on youtube/twitch with all the clips and cool guys they share with the world.

They've also become a home for Ryan Sickler's podcast The Honeydew. A comedian with a baltmor accent interviewing comedians and actors about the low points of their lives. It'd be heavy if it weren't for the well placed jokes.

The great thing about TrueAnon is that you can have a podcast that acknowledges Epstein didn't kill himself and that Bush did 9/11 without attracting people like this asshole. Cum town is truly no man's land though. I go back and forth on finding it that funny.

The problem with cum town, chapo, and really a lot of podcasts is that they become really self-referential, or at least very niche, these are some of the best ct bits and i don't think they'd be funny at all if you didn't know who these people were

No Deathsquad fans in here? Surprising.

Tim Dillon - The hero we need, and definitely don't deserve. He's like a modern Alex Jones fucking Bill Hicks in the ass. His coverage of the pandemic is unmatched. His tireless efforts in the Jeffrey Epstein story will go down as one of the most criminally underlooked efforts in comedy history.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ly5467NVWvY

Ari Shaffir's Skeptic Tank - dirty mushroom loving Jew comedian loosely focuses his conversations with guests around a specific topic

The Church of What's Happening Now - It's Monday you motherfuckera give your balls a tap and wake the fuck up Uncle Joey Diaz is ready to kick your head in kocksucker.

Kill Tony - A panel of Pro Comedians and The Best Damn Band in the Land pick names out of a hat, people get up and do 1 minute of stand up, and then get interviewed. They either get lit the fuck up with roast jokes or something crazy about their life comes out.

This Past Weekend - bipolar Louisiana nutbar rambles about bullshit

The Duncan Trussel Family Hour - Bro shamanism

Non Deathsquad:
Last Podcast on the Left - True Crime comedy. 2 fatboi's and a nerd break down cult classic crimes and occult topics with great accuracy, and find a way to slip in some rip roaring jokes in between the information. I recommend their 6 part series on Rasputin.

Hardcore History - Excellent in-depth series on topics such as the Khan Empire and WWI.

Gonna rep Revolutions again. Mike Duncan is basically the big daddy of academic historical podcasting and you can join the self-radicalization party with this one.

Then there's the History of Rome podcast, where he got started. This runs from the early days as a murky kingdom to the east-west split, so a good not-quite-millenium of history.

On the more hollywood end is Hardcore History, which is pretty good but very dramatically delivered. I do wish Carlin would talk about something other than the world wars because that's always his best work.

Then there's the Mafia podcast, which tackles the prohibition era into the 70s and 80s, with each episode focusing on a particular gangster. This is pretty professionally done and feels kind of like a history channel thing. Probably the highlight of the series is the donnie brasco episode, where they just haul in Pistone to give a firsthand account of what happened in his time as an undercover cop.

Finally, I like the Fatman on Batman podcast, now called Fatman Beyond. It started as Kevin Smith and his writer friend Marc Bernardin talking about batman shit but eventually evolved into a general nerd shit news podcast. They do news, movie reveals, audience q&as and general bullshitting. The funny thing is, kevin smith isn't actually the draw here. He inevitably likes whatever he sees and generally just lives to be hyped for shit, but Bernardin is a journalist turned screenwriter and consistently delivers really cutting and insightful criticism of the shit hollywood shovels out every month.

Gonna list some I haven't seen posted, I listen to tons of podcasts. I'm going to try and stay away from the more hard politically ideological ones I listen to, but I can also make a list for that if people want a bunch of radical leftist podcasts.

Citations Needed - Amazing show about media distortion and bias and the way issues are framed in the media to make people think in certain ways. Once you listen to a few episodes you will never be able to watch the news the same way again, I compare it almost to putting on the glasses from They Live

Parallax Views - Really cool interview show that is all over the place in its content. Often has episodes on political issues, conspiracies, horror movies, the occult, cryptids, musicians, and counterculture in general

The Sitdown - All about the history of organized crime and all of the different wild people involved in it. Usually each episode will focus on a specific figure but occasionally will focus on an event or a specific group.

Desert Oracle Radio - Cool as hell show hosted by Ken Layne, very kind of weird and psychadelic, focuses on life and stories from the Mojave Desert and all the strangeness that comes with that.

No Dogs In Space - Punk music history podcast from one of the LPOTL guys, very cool show if you are into classic punk

Behind the Bastards - History show where the journalist Robert Evans explains the lives of evil people to his comedian friends. Very funny and informative and Evans is a total bro

It Could Happen Here - Also by Robert Evans, an in depth overview of possible scenarios for a second American Civil War. Incredibly chilling and sobering podcast that will stick with you for a long time after you listen to it. The crazy thing is that even though it came out almost two years ago it only gets more relevant and you can already see many of the things he discusses starting to happen

Blank Check - Movie podcast where they will spend a whole season going through a particular directors entire filmography, they discuss the making of the movie from the business side to the special effects to the direction to the release. Very cool if you are into the nitty gritty of the entertainment business

Occult Confessions - Very funny and goofy podcast that looks at various topics in the history of the occult, done with lots of skits and jokes

And Introducing - Music history show by one of the Chapo guys, very cool and insightful while also being a lot of fun.

You Can't Win - Chill show that is kind of all over the place on topics, hosted by Don Hughes who is absolutely hilarious. Very relaxed chat show that is nice to just smoke a joint and unwind to.

QAnonAnonymous - All about conspiracies in general but also QAnon in particular, breaks down and analyses all the insanity while also totally shitting on it and pointing out the small kernels of truth that get completely twisted into wild conspiracy. Very funny while also being very informative.

Minion Death Cult - Almost like a companion to QAnonAnonymous, they riff on ridiculous boomer internet shit. If you want to know why your 65 year old uncle is mad online about Elmer Fudd and Land'O'Lakes butter this is the show for you.

Radio War Nerd - The absolute best show for military history, Dr John Dolan does deep dives on all kinds of topics from across time. Absolutely legendary show with a ton of amazing episodes covering all aspects of war.

The Mystery Show - Nice and sweet show where each episode is spent trying to solve a fun innocent mystery. Some episode can be very funny, others can be very touching, others can be kind of sad, but they are all nice little stories that kind of revolve around just how interesting mundane things can be

Like I said at the top I can list a ton more but I figured I would try and stay away from more radically political shows, but can also put together a list of those if people want it.

"Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend" is always a good interview. A few highlights are Nicole Byer and Jeff Goldblum.

"You Must Remember This" is great if you like hollywood stories.

"I'm Too Effing High" is fuckin hilarious. They get comedians and actors on like Doug Benson, Carl Tart, Mary holland and such, and get them very high then give them comedic challenges. They've swtiched to Youtube streams during pandemic, and they are a blast
