After all the marketing and hype, Stranger Things 3 finally arrives on the 4th of July:

>It's 1985 in Hawkins, Indiana, and summer's heating up. School's out, there's a brand new mall in town, and the Hawkins crew are on the cusp of adulthood. Romance blossoms and complicates the group's dynamic, and they'll have to figure out how to grow up without growing apart. Meanwhile, danger looms. When the town's threatened by enemies old and new, Eleven and her friends are reminded that evil never ends; it evolves. Now they'll have to band together to survive, and remember that friendship is always stronger than fear.

Still haven't bothered watching season 2, I felt season 1 was wrapped up fairly well as a miniseries. I'm probably going to have to find a recap or read the wiki article at this rate because I remember fuck all.

Valid points, but as someone with a kid, it's one of the only new shows I can handle watching with the whole family without being insanely bored, and it always has convenient release date timing for everyone to binge like this 4 day weekend.

The last two seasons were released on July 15 and October 27, which I wouldn't say were convenient but maybe it was for you. I do get what you mean about Stranger Things being the only show you could watch with the family without being bored. The show isn't overtly scary (though probably for younger kids) but it's not extremely violent or gory in a similar to films like Gremlins and Poltergeist and has a huge appeal especially with its teenage characters.

This show seems like a quintessential Chiggins show. I have no interest in watching some 80's fanwank, though. I would rather just watch an actual 80's movie.

True, but you bring it upon yourself making so many threads about everything you watch. I hold out hope one day that you'll upgrade your firmware so that you start watching adult programs instead of wank geared towards 13 year-old girls.

how you gonna do my boy Steve dirty like that? They were practically building them getting together by the end and then all of a sudden Robin is like lol im a lesbian SIKE!

This season was pretty good but the whole Russian plot felt out of place and dumb. Regardless of the 80s trope of always making the bad guys Russian or German.

I liked how the show stopped taking itself so seriously and got lighter in tone. The constant relationship crap was annoying and boring though.
Frankenstein's Monster - Sun, 07 Jul 2019 22:41:40 EST RJKUOZin No.408602 Reply
Hopper seemed really out of character this season. He got on my nerves a lot. And there were too many 80s song licenses acquired for the early episodes. Yes, we know it takes place in the 80s, you don't have to shove an 80s song in every ten minutes to remind us.

The shit with the underground Russian bunker was ridiculous but I am always up for Steve and Dustin adventures and Robin is pretty cool. Erica was occasionally funny but at other times she felt like an unnecessary addition.

I liked seeing Nancy wield a shotgun but I didn't care much for her and Jonathan's storyline compared to season 2. I also wish there had been more interactions between all the characters instead of grouping them off and isolating them from one another.

Alexei was probably the best thing about this season. Poor fucker.

All in all, my least favorite of the seasons so far, but it got better as it went along.

RIP Billy Badass.

The Cold War stuff always played a role in the series. Dr Brenner's original plan was to spy on the Russians using Eleven before the whole gate aspect came about. Even Murray Bauman tried to bring up the idea of Soviet spies in Hawkins during Season 2. It's just the first time they went full bore on it.

While I won't be able to watch this till the end of next month, apparently Netflix is banning showing smoking in shows and films rated less than TV-MA and R except for historical or factual accuracy because of the criticism Stranger Things got because of it

They're fags and this is why i pirate the occasional good shows they make like this one. And TBH this show is just okay and only blows up when they have a summer release because there's no other good shows out to compete.

well, no, it blows up because a lot of casual viewers genuinely enjoy it. Critics might have their gripes and nitpicks, but critics (and general critical viewers) are a small percentage of the viewer base.

Actually, it's not about representation. It's actually about Steve. The whole scene is about Steve. Him coming to grips with that highschool really is over, and that not every girl out there is ready to jump on his dick. It also shows how much Steve has grown since S1, because he just rolls with the punch, makes a joke and shit's good between him and Robin.

Also, in hindsight it was OBVIOUS as fuck that Robin was lesbian, because if Robin really had a crush on Steve, why the fuck would she pester him on trying to hit on every pretty girl that walks into the Scoops Ahoy?

I liked S2. It's uneven, but the odds are stacked higher and it has some delicious character development for my main man Steve.

Most people only started liking Steve in season 2 but I liked him in season 1 and hated Jonathan and Nancy with a fucking passion. Steve was a bit dopey but the way Jonathan acts like Steve is a bully is bullshit, Jonathan was a stalker who had been photographing Steve's girlfriend while hiding in the woods on the same night another girl went missing, of course Steve is going to think bad things about Jonathan.

I just finished off season 3 and it did nothing for me. Surely one more season or better yet, a film, would be the right way to end things now? I can see this shit going on forever.

Also what happened to the chick that plays Nancy? Did they purposely make her less attractive for some reason?

Yeah they made Steve out to be a bully whilst Jonathan was an awkward creep although I will say that I liked the character development they gave to Steve when he went from being a bully to a baseball bat carrying badass monster whacker in the season finale

>Surely one more season or better yet, a film, would be the right way to end things now?

Duffer Brothers' initial plan is for the show to go 4 or 5 seasons as long as Netflix can keep paying the cast's salaries, which is going to keep increasing given the show's popularity and the cast getting bigger roles elsewhere especially Millie Bobby Brown, who's made about $2.8 million for this season.

Now I'm waiting for the 4th season, I hope that Hopper is alive, since I can't imagine the show without that character.
Also what's up with that thing about Will being gay? Seems like everyone got wrong the line about "you don't like girls", the kid was trapped in upside-dawn and was brainwashed by mindflayer, so it's pretty legit that he still wants to play games with his friends, but the media is way to retarded to understand those certaine things, so instead they're pushing their bullshit...

Finally got around to watching season 3. I thought it was a much better improvement from season 2 and I actually did like the introduction of the Russian subplot trying to reopen the gate, which while totally ridiculous is also a callback to shit like Red Dawn and Cold War pop culture in general but also tying into previous references on the previous seasons hinting at that. Alexei was pretty funny too especially his interactions with Hopper and Murray, sucks he died though. Hopper obviously I think is still alive and he is that American prisoner in Russia.

The season finale was pretty balls to the wall action wise but also had a lot of emotions and humor to it with Billy's death and Dustin having to sing Never Ending Story with Suzie. Looking forward to next season at least though hopefully we get more Steve being a badass moments.
