>13 Reasons Why s03e01-7

Watched the first half of the new season. I like it a bit more than season 2 but it's not saying much since I feel like they should have just kept this show as a miniseries instead of extending it beyond the source material of the first season like The Leftovers and Big Little Lies did. I'm at least intrigued by the season's central mystery of who killed Bryce but on the other hand I really don't like Ani and how she's supposed to be such an obvious replacement for Hannah and as a foil to Clay. Although I will say that trying to cover up Tyler trying to go Columbine on Liberty High and hiding his mental health issues even though they're trying to help him get better is a very bad idea.

>Parasite

What a brilliantly constructed and well acted comedy-drama that was both funny but also kind of fucked up especially the whole twist of Moon-kwang revealing the secret bunker and the whole ending with her husband's stabbing spree at that birthday party. I really hope this wins Best Foreign Film at the Oscars.

Just because I watch one show you don't like over another, which I've never said I refuse to watch but I just don't have time to watch it, doesn't make me think any less of you either dude. I like posting about shows and movies I watch and modding on here so I at least have respect for posters such as yourself who have opinions about what me or other posters watch on here because it at least allows for discussion and debate.

>Fuck this stupid show and how it glamorizes suicide.

Yeah it does but it's a TV show. You could say this about any other show that glamorizes certain things like murder, drug dealing, promiscuous sex, and vice versa.

>>409636
Yeah it's pretty overblown and I disagree with Netflix having to alter content after the fact.

So the show is in the back-half of its third season and god damn... it's fucking fantastic. Big F's for John Singleton but he left us with a masterpiece!

This is probably the best depiction of the crack epidemic in 80's Los Angeles. The inclusion of the CIA is right there from the get go and it doesn't pull any punches.

I'd say some more about it, but I don't want to spoil a thing.

Binging the Nightmare on Elm Street movies before Shudder removes them. Through the first three so far. I forgot how much cool imagery the first one has. The second one feels like a weird facsimile, though. Even disregarding all of the homoeroticism of it, the main actor does such a shitty job and the story is really fucking dumb outside of the concept of Freddy possessing a living person in order to control them outside of their dreams. The whole pool party scene at the end is fucking ridiculous, too. It does have some really cool visuals sprinkled in throughout, though, so it's not a complete disaster, but it still feels like the worst one of the series.

The third one is fucking wild, though, and is really damn entertaining. The only thing I didn't like was how in the first half or so Freddy has some really imaginative ways to use his powers to kill, but then in the second half all he does is just stab people once to kill them. Not sure if they ran out of money for special effects or what, but that was weird. Looking forward to watching the 4th one next since I recall it being a direct sequel to this one.

>13 Reasons Why s03e08-13

This season was on par with last and was mediocre but a bit better in playing up the season’s overarching theme of being able to ask for help but there was still a lot of bad that outweighed the good like why the fuck would they humanize Bryce after he raped Hannah, Jessica and others? I get that they’re trying to show how he’s trying to change his life and make amends for his mistakes that he made but that’s like humanizing privileged white teen rapists like Brock Turner. Really sends a bad message. Also didn’t like the addition of Ani as basically being the show’s narrator and voice of conscious when she had a relationship with Bryce and trying to even defend him. At least next season will be the last though because after having watched Euphoria and then this, it’s like night and day.

>Home Alone 4

Randomly watched this on Youtube since it was one of my recommended videos for some reason. It’s what I expected for a TV movie but how can they have someone named Marv look exactly like Harry and not be named? That weirded me out. I did think Kevin’s room was cool though.

>The Handmaid’s Tale s03e06 & 7 - Household & Under His Eye

Resumed watching season 3 and seeing DC under Gilead was a cool visual with the ending of the Washington Monument being turned from an obelisk to a cross. Also the Swiss can’t be that stupid, despite their neutrality, to even want to consider having Canada return Nichole back to Gilead right? I mean I get Fred is trying to use some bullshit propaganda out of North Korea’s handbook but it’s fucking hard to suspend my disbelief that Canada would even consider an extradition treaty unless they were being militarily threatened or something? They said Gilead had a powerful military but is it any more powerful than China or Russia or another country? I would imagine there would be economic sanctions against them but they really haven’t dived into the perception of Gilead from a world perspective.

As a fan of the books I enjoyed the first season and am really enjoying that they're continuing the Brady storyline in the second season season as well as incorporating elements from the second book in the trilogy. For the most part it's a very subdued show while really using the last 10-15 minutes of an episode to ramp up the tension without feeling like a cheap cliffhanger.

The cast is great and I absolutely love the inclusion of Jack Houston to the main cast.

Finished The Boys, loved it a lot, can't wait for the next season. Good shit.
About done with season 1 of The Tick (2016), thoroughly enjoying this as well. The actor playing The Tick really nailed something good imo, somehow making "guy is dumb lol" into something richer.
Also finished up Dark Crystal, loved that but I was an easy win for them, they'd have to have really botched it for me to dislike it. But I think they did an excellent job and I'd be curious about response from younger folks who weren't exposed to the original Dark Crystal.

>South Side & Sherman's Showcase
Bashir Salahuddin is straight killing it lately.

South Side is a surprise of a comedy that kinda slides jokes in beneath the actual jokes. It's got heart for sure. It's about two best friends graduating community collage and still being stuck working their dead end jobs at a Rent To Own company while eternally looking for the next side hustle.

Sherman's Showcase sold me on it's framing device alone; each episode is an infomercial about a fictional Soul Train-type show with a different IRL musician hosting various clips from the show set to a theme. There are tons of comedy music numbers and interviews. Grade A mockumentary stuff.

>The Handmaid’s Tale s03e08-13

The season really got a hell of a lot better once June decided to save the children and smuggle them to Canada. Also seeing Serena and Fred get fucked by the ICC felt good to see. They deserve it for all the shit they've done. Only problem is how an unrecognized sovereign state like Gilead will respond.

>The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 2

I really enjoyed this season especially whenever it's focused on Abe and Susie since Tony Shalhoub and Alex Borstein are great comedic actors. I mean Midge is alright but this is one of those shows where the show is more interesting for its supporting characters than its main character as much as Midge's standup is pretty good and I'm glad that she finally came out with being a comedienne but seriously what the fuck was she thinking going back to Joel? I think up until the last scene of this season, it was pretty good but I feel like that left a bad taste but I at least would be interested in seeing where they go with Midge's standup tour in Europe opening for Shy Baldwin.

Now watching the final season of Orange is the New Black.

So I finished it last night, didn't stay as good as it started, but it was worth watching through at least.
Started out really good, was a nice gradual shift into "oh shit weird cult".
Started turning a bit when it threw some too cliché horror movie scary interrupts
Like when he gets back to his room after investigating at night, the key wounding and bleeding him is fine and good, nice implication, but the blood moving into the floorboards and the randy ghoul-grandma having an orgasm licking the drops up was just silly, totally fucked with the mood.
Also after squeezing through randy grandmas lazy blood & gore river he just totally switches into this new character,
it was nice with him being quiet tortured soul that had seen things, it could've been left untouched, but suddenly he's another cliché edgy god-denyer after hardly saying a word unneeded prior to this moment.
Also damn at the end, the ranting "bad guy" just keeps aiming his shotgun at the gals and putting it down again, and it's not eve motivated, he's already said he wants to keep them as forced-breeders then aims the gun again, doesn't make sense. If the intended effect is that he's supposed to be stoned on cannabis and keeps forgetting he wants to keep them alive then they succeeded.

There was a lot of good, just easier to notice what's bad, and there was a linear increase of bad to good in ratio as the movie went on.

Finished up the new Netflix Original The I-Land. I have to recommend it. It's only a limited series, 7 episodes.

Very reminiscent of Lost because... An Island. Was kind of thinking at first this what Lost should have been if it didn't go full Sci-Fi. Was completely wrong. Quite possibly takes the concept of Lost and refines and expands on it. Highly recommended.

Binged watch season 3-4 of Superstore. Back to season 1 and onwards for the new season coming Next Thursday. One of my favorite comedy/sitcoms in a very long time.

It's a chicken/egg situation. Did people think this was funny before and netflix is filling the demand or do you think netflix is actively trying to push this point of view? There are comics trying to cash in on it that even netflix won't book (nick dipallo) so there is a market for it.

I think a majority of this styled material is forgettable but there are some comics I like. Your picture is funny but I notice that they put Bill Burr in the recommended column. I think he's pretty funny. Nothing ground breaking, just an angry middle aged white guy, but I like his comedy. I agree with the Joe Rogan jab though, his standup just doesn't do anything for me. I think there are lots of comedians trying to be Bill Burr, early 2000's Colin Quinn or the twitter era Bill Hicks right now and it's kind of dreadful, but that's what the barking seals want.

A little of both columns. Some comedians are still stuck in the edgelord stage of life, while others are meta and can make fun of it by abusing the system.

Joe Rogan sucks, but his one saving grace is that every once in a while he gets a great guest to interview because of his pull. I will say though, he's always been about standing up for up and coming comics and getting them some exposure. He exists in a place where he doesn't have to bother to expand beyond his means and instead uses it to push other people into a new level of success.

Netflix is clearly trying to appeal to both retards, but any of the right leaning shit is from eunuch milquetoast comedians like Christopher Titus or Bill Burr. If they really wanted to be edgy they would pick up World Peace. There is so much pandering they made a not comedy special that bloggers ate up like flies to shit. These cunts changed their entire rating system because of a Lena Dunham special that flopped.

I don't know, both those guys are pretty funny IMO and I wouldn't necessarily classify either of them as right wing. They do the aggrivated middle age white dude shtick, sure, but their material is different enough I don't think you can really lump them together. I don't agree with everything they say but they make me laugh, I don't go into a comedy special expecting a serious dissertation on politics or ready to pounce on or sing the praises the microphone haha man that is bound to have at least 5 minutes of material on dicks.

All the other comedians that explicitly bill themselves as "right wing" are fucking awful. Netflix isn't booking nick dipallo or dennis miller because they are too edgy, it's because they fucking suck. When I think of right wing "comedy" I always think of those shitty prarger u ads that I can't skip thorough where a bunch of pandering con men film themselves laughing at talking points their target audience agrees with and calling it jokes. I think "woke" comedy is fucking awful too, same shit, different asshats forcing laughs.

yeah and that was mild compared to the other stuff supposedly happening on that set. Brad Renfro died because of the trauma endured. Many other kids claimed they were fondled, raped, or made to strip.

https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2019/03/bryan-singers-accusers-speak-out/580462/

“I’m hanging out,” Valdovinos says. “All of a sudden, Bryan comes in. He goes, ‘Hey! How are you?’ Real cheerful. And I’m like, ‘Hi.’ I can’t remember his exact words, but he was kind of just saying ‘Come back here.’ He kind of directs me; he kind of grabs me; and he takes us to the back area, which was kind of closed off. Like, this is the whole locker room”—Valdovinos gestures to suggest the space—“they’re doing their stuff over there, and I was back here, in the towel, with no shirt and no clothes on, sitting on one of the locker-room benches. Bryan’s like, ‘Just hang out here. It’s going to be all day. Don’t worry.” Singer left, and Valdovinos waited for what seemed like hours.

Eventually, he says, Singer came back and made small talk. How are you doing? Do you need anything? “Every time he had a chance—three times—he would go back there … He was always touching my chest.” Finally, according to Valdovinos, Singer reached through the towel flaps and “grabbed my genitals and started masturbating it.” The director also “rubbed his front part on me,” Valdovinos alleges. “He did it all with this smile.” Valdovinos says that Singer told him, “You’re so good-looking … I really want to work with you … I have a nice Ferrari … I’m going to take care of you.”

We don't care or want any politics on this board, but we're one of the slowest boards on the site so we get ignored. As a whole we're actually levelheaded for the most part and can talk about a show with political motifs when it's part of the show/movie. Chernobyl thread is a great example of our self-policing.

I can't really blame them though since TV has become random binges and the few of us that still have cable streaming in the past few years. I'd like to think that we'll find some sort of middle-ground since the sheer amount of streaming services have somehow created Cable 2.0 in recent years.

Watched the 2019 reboot of Child's Play. I'm a huge Chucky nerd and was ready to hate this, but it was surprisingly decent. It's a radically different Chucky, both in terms of concept and personality, but it still walks that line between creepy and hilarious just like the old films. One major difference between this Chucky and the old one is that the OG Chucky is just a remorseless psychopath, whereas this new Chucky was sympathetic and I felt bad for him as he went on his killing spree. He was kind of like an enthusiastic kid who doesn't understand how to play with other kids and always takes rough-housing too far and someone gets hurt.

Watched last week’s season premiere of 1984 and I didn’t find it to be that intriguing despite my admiration for 80s slasher films and the show finally doing. Shit just felt lazy paint by the numbers writing and directing to me. I did think the first scene where Mr. Jingles massacred everyone was sick though

>Dear White People Volume 3 - Chapter I, II & III

Been binging this now and gone through the first few episodes of the season. Sucks that Giancarlo Esposito’s character isn’t narrating the show anymore as he’s an actual character now since I actually liked those parts that he had narrated. Season is aight so far but damn that was awkward when Rashid basically told Joelle he loved her and then got butthurt and unfriended her. I alao do think that Moses dude has ulterior motives with Reggie and shit.

>Veep s07e07 - Veep

Finally watched the series finale and holy shit it was actually really good both humorously and emotionally in terms of seeing where the characters end up. Selina basically destroyed her relationships with practically everyone just to be president like Kent being pissed off about Selina having Jonah be her VP since that moment when he flipped out on her was a big surprise. I felt really bad when Gary got taken away by the FBI and was made as Selina's fall guy in the Meyer Fund scandal but from a writing perspective, it was the right move to make to solidify Selina's descent into isolation after she won the election. At least Richard ended up being president considering he was practically one of the only likable characters on the show so it felt good to see. I also thought that the final scene with Mike announcing Tom Hanks' death was a great callback to the first episode. I think that the last three seasons, without Armando Ianucci's involvement, while still a very good show, wasn't as great as the first four seasons but the series finale certainly was a great way to close out the series. But credit to Julie-Louis Dreyfus for her performance because I can't think of another actress who would have been able to pull that off and win six Emmys in a row for it. Would have been seven if Phoebe Waller-Bridge didn't win for Fleabag, which I need to watch.

>American Horror Story s09e02 - Mr. Jingles

I mean this episode wasn't that much better than last week's episode though the scene where Brooke recounted her wedding and how her fiance left her at the altar was a lot more disturbing than I thought it was going to play out. I thought it was just that he would accuse his friend of sleeping with Brooke and then leaving her at the altar but him pulling a gun out of nowhere killing his friend, Brooke's father, and himself was so fucking bizarre and out of nowhere. At least the Night Stalker is back though a younger version of the one from Hotel. I was also surprised how short the episode was at 40 minutes, might have been the shortest one of all the seasons. I'll keep watching and see where it goes since I dig the season's 80s slasher film tribute.

>This Is Us s04e01 - Strangers

The season premiere wasn't anything special I think even with the Jack and Rebecca scenes other than Jack's speech at dinner and Rebecca's dad basically saying that he's no good for his daughter. The conceit of introducing new characters in a season premiere isn't uncommon though showing how they're connected the show's pre-existing characters at the end is something we've already seen before from the first episode. I mean Cassidy, Malik, and Jack's connections to the characters certainly brings something new to the table but it at least interests me to see how it plays out.

>The Good Place s04e01 - A Girl from Arizona (Part 1)

I sure missed this show after having binged the previous three seasons in January. Sucks it's the final season but hopefully wherever they go with the experiment and Chidi now being a part of it after having his memory wiped is gonna throw a wrench in Eleanor and Michael's plans, they pull it off well. Best scene by far was definitely The Bad Place's anthem being the Kars 4 Kids song, that shit made me laugh pretty hard.

I don't blame you for not being motivated to watch as AHS used to be one of /mtv/ most popular shows of discussion on here but not anymore. Apocalypse had it moments but it was a step down from Cult so you didn't really miss much. 1984 is the first season Evan Peters won't be appearing on and as much as I liked Cody Fern in Apocalypse and American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace, he's not on Peters' level.

Rewatched Creep and decided to check out the sequel, it's actually a good follow up.

Then I watched Under the Skin. This shit is incredibly dull, every shot hangs on too long, every scene is too long, and basically half the movie is Scarlett Johanssen driving around in a van. The most freaky part of the movie was actually just the sequence of candid shots of Scottish people going about their day. Some of the landscape shots were pretty cool I guess.

Only the manga is any good, and the ending (well more like last entire 1/3rd) is pretty controversial with some people loving it, others thinking it was fine and in line with the rest of the series, and others still thinking it was asspull central and a load of shit.

And since this is the BWW: watching MST3k, bride of the monster. Haven,t seen many Joel episodes as I like Mike a lot better, but we'll see how this goes. So far not impressed

God mother fucking damn it fuck you, this show.

RIP Nina Sargeevna

Also Fleabag is fucking excellent. I passed it up multiple times because I'm a male but saw it had an 8.7 on IMDb and it's a really nice surprise. I hesitate to compare anything at all to peep show but if anything is anywhere near that style and level of comic genius, the show comes close. It's kind of like peep show but from a female perspective. And no I'm not just saying that because it's a British chick.Check it out dudes.

Before Fleabag she did a show called Crashing which is hard to find because there's an American show with the same title that came out around the same time. It's not as unique (I guess she had to start with something not so out-there) but do watch it, the whole cast do a fantastic job of being painfully awkward to watch.

>Zombieland: Double Tap

It was a fun gory ride though I didn't think it was as good as the first film and the ending made me feel like "that's it?". I did really get a kick out of seeing Jesse Eisenberg and Thomas Middleditch interact with each other and the end credits scene with Bill Murray at least. Guess it's gonna be another 10 years till we get Zombieland 3.

I actually watched season 1 of Fleabag on the plane today. The show made me realize how much I miss comedies that break the 4th wall like Malcolm in the Middle but it's really well done. I think Phoebe Waller-Bridge really pulls it off from her awkward glances/facial expressions and one liners but also with a layer of empathy on top given how much she's been trying to deal with her friend's suicide, which the reason why was even more fucked up why she's dealing with it especially after the revelation from that scene where Claire ended up siding with Martin saying Fleabag kissed him instead of the other way that suddenly made the show go dark that I was not expecting.

Gonna have to watch season 2 and then Killing Eve.

>Zomboat!

Nowhere near groundbreaking or original but this show is still fun. It's a British horror comedy following a group of survivors making their way down the canals of England in a canal boat hoping to reach London. Essentially they're going one notch faster than the shuffling zombies who want to kill them. It loses a few points because the protagonist is a streamer/gamer girl trope who only exists to list off references, but the rest of the cast delivers.

I finally got around to watching Space Dandy - holy SHIT, I wasn't expecting it to emotionally gut-punch me as many times as it has. Episodes 5 and 8 (Dandy's road trip with an alien girl and the planet only populated by a stray dog [which may or may not have been Laika], respectively) were poignant, but 10 and 13 (the crew living the same day over and over on Meow's home planet and QT falling in love) were just phenomenal. All 4 are incredibly moving, and I think 10 is one of the best episodes of television I've ever seen.
(lmfao then episode 14 has 'Michael Jackson' Dandy. I love this show.)

>Magic For Humans s01e01 & 2 - Self Control & Express Yourself

I watched the first two episodes since my sister recommended it. I was really blown away by how this show really bucks the trend of other magic shows. The magic tricks are fairly straight-forward but what makes the show a really fun watch is how engaging Justin Willman is as a host and how he integrates those different tricks into each episode's theme and making these straight-forward tricks really mind-blowing and being like "what the fuck did I just watch?" I know he's said that there's no camera tricks and heavy editing done, whether that's true or not you have to admit his sleight of hand is really on point.

>Now You See Me & Now You See Me 2

And speaking of magic, my friend got me to watch this. The concept of having magicians pull of heists is interesting but it's a bit too over the top in terms of suspension of disbelief though Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg's comedic chemistry between these films and Zombieland is endearing. Having Lizzie Caplan in 2 was an improvement cast wise though the film wasn't as good as the first. I'm surprised they're making a 3rd one but Benedict Cumberbatch being part of does raises my intrigue level somewhat.

>21 and 22 Jump Street

These pair of buddy cop films were both very good in their own right despite the similarities in the main storyline of two young looking cops having to go undercover illegal drugs being sold in high school and college. I'm not gonna argue Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum's bromance is hilarious but Ice Cube steals the fucking show especially in 22 Jump Street.

What political stuff? Do you mean Walt blackmailing Marta in exposing her mother as an undocumented immigrant in exchange for Marta renouncing the family inheritance? I mean it's relevant to today's current events but I didn't feel like it was forced because it was a plot device designed to try and raise the stakes of Marta trying to keep her inheritance and clear her name in Benoit's eyes so she doesn't lose that inheritance because of the slayer rule.

Rewatched Which Way is Up? with Richard Pryor. Underappreciated classic. Everyone cites Coming to America as comedically ground breaking with Eddie Murphy playing multiple characters but this came out a few years before and Pryor does it arguably better because they are characters that are integral to the story and not just punchlines. It's a dark comedy that addresses the issues of race, class and economics without a happy ending from back in a time when that kind of thing was considered unmarketable and it does it without being preachy.

I can't recommend this one enough and it feels like no one else has seen it.

Finished season 1 and halfway through season 2 of You. My friend got me into it and given that it had originally aired on Lifetime before it moved to Netflix, I thought it was going to suck but the writing of Joe’s character and the lengths he goes through to conceal his actions and identity are pretty elaborate that it almost makes you not want to suspend your disbelief but the writing and Penn Badgely’s performance is really underrated and captures the character’s flaws and traits well. I have mixed feelings about the narration though I suppose capturing Joe’s inner thoughts helps the audience understand his motivations better.

Its pretty fucking good guys, only 3 eps out but its pretty creepy and very compelling, very well written. Apparently one of the few adaptations that King has personally said was "riveting". Idk I really liked Castle Rock season 2 as well but this might surpass it, I'll give it time

It was definitely funny. My one complaint is that it seems to be setting up a season-spanning storyline, where as I prefer the seasons where the episodes are mostly self-contained. In the season about how muslims were all trying to murder him, i recall they did a better job at not making it totally dominate every single episode the way older arcs like The Producers did. Hopefully this new #metoo arc and the Tedd Danson drama and the Latte Larry crap aren't dragged out too long.

The OG James Bond movie. I haven't watched Bond movies in probably 20 years, since i was a kid too young to enjoy them properly, just waiting for the action sequences. This time proved a very enjoyable experience, having everything i wanted/expected from the franchise: corny one-liners, a Bond girl with the body of Wonder Woman, bad special effects, a villain with a silly accent and creepy hands, racist caricatures, spooky spiders, and amazing set designs. Will watch more.

Also, I've been thinking of checking out Mystery Science Theater 3000. Should I start from the beginning, or watch some Greatest Hits episodes to get hooked?

There's no real reason to watch MST3K in a strict order, but I would start with some Joel episodes first, and then move on to Mike and Jonah so you can at least get a feel for how each chronological host put their own spin on the era. Everyone has a favorite host, but they're all great in their own ways.

Eh, technically they do do a lot of call back jokes to past episodes so it does help with inside jokes and running gags, but considering there's hundreds of jokes per episode you'd only miss a few at most per ep by not watching chronologically. If for some reason you do watch it chronologically, I'd recommend starting with s3, it's where the show found it's groove. The first 2 seasons are rough and might put off a new viewer. Hope you like obscure references, but the show's still fun even if you don't

Finished season 2 of You. Was not expecting Love to end up being just as fucked up as Joe in being the one that killed the babysitter that Forty thought he killed and then Candace and Forty both being killed having known who Joe really is. I don’t know if this season was better than the first one and that this show’s premise is going to still be sustainable for multiple seasons. The show’s alright but I don’t think it’s as good as critics say it is.

>Dollface

My friend got me into it but it’s fairly reminiscent of Man Seeking Woman, which was a very underrated comedy that doesn’t get enough credit, with its absurd and surreal humor about relationships except it’s from a female perspective with more of an emphasis on friendships than relationships. Kat Dennings is alright in the lead role though I think Brenda Song is probably the best part of the show just because she has the comedic talent with her timing and facial expressions that help to play off of others much as she had playing London on The Suite Life of Zack and Cody and Suite Life on Deck. Overall the season was okay and had its moments but not really a show to go out of your way to watch.

>Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez

Netflix’s newest true crime doc series definitely did a good job with being able to include all the court and security footage and prison phone calls but I was already very familiar with the case since I follow sports pretty well so there wasn’t anything new that I didn’t know about but I did appreciate the doc’s commentary about the college sports industrial complex and homosexuality vs. masculinity in sports. Certainly would appeal to true crime watchers not familiar with the case at least.

Right now I’m watching the latest season of Sex Education.

Trying to get back into episodic sci-fi. Almost done rewatching season 2 of Torchwood, I know a big chunk of the crew is gonna die soon but i forget the exact order it happens lol.

Watched the first few episodes of Star Trek TNG. There was a two parter about Q, a super racist episode, and an episode about Wesley Crusher being Star Jesus or something.

Also been revsiting season 1 of Rick & Morty. I was one of the fags in the R+M thread whining that the show isnt as good as it used to be, but it turns out I was misremembering because it was always as hit/miss as it currently is. I guess because it was so new and cool/fancy at the time, I was more willing to overlook flaws back then. But I at least won't be a whiny bitch about "the good old days" anymore, the show is exactly the same as it always was.

Now I'm smoking bowls and rewatching the Stargate movie. I only ever saw the first season of SG1 so if i rewatch that, everything afterwards will be new content.

I'm not opposed to Time Lords turning into girls or blacks/arabs, but it was pretty awkward that the first thing the arab Master does is try to crash a plane. Also Chibnall destroying all the cool Gallifray stuff that RTD and Moffat spent a decade building. And a shitty climate change episode that couldn't be more on-the-nose if it tried. I like the cinematography, but what was the point? That children shouldn't be soldiers? That's a very disingenuous way of framing the situation. Mostly, it seems like an indictment of the guerrilla side of the Colombian conflict: if you don't like the fact that your country's leadership has to be CIA-approved, then you support children becoming feral murderers; now go back to the plantation, you pesky Latinos, those bananas won't harvest themselves.

Get a hold of the sequels if you can. My friends that I saw all three at the cinema with always argue about which order from best to worst they go in, but I think us constantly arguing about it means that they're all pretty close in quality.

For me, it goes 3>1>2

I think I'm deciding next whether I should watch Band of Brothers or this show The Reaper somebody recommended me, but it seems like I've been watching a lot of old CW shows lately (Smallville, Veronica Mars, Supernatural) so I don't want to burn myself out.

The CGI for Dark City was amazing in retrospect, I can definitely remember my boomer mom laughing forcibly saying the telekinetic battle looked dumb being portrayed by two men yelling at each other. I like to think it inspired Chronicle to portray a more dynamic use of the ability.

And the set work was amazing. The bricked windows made me nut at the foresight. The Matrix took the concept running but Dark City was inbetween Matrix and the Twilight Zone, implying TZ sets a high standard story telling/limited set budget as the minimum.

I wanna hate it because it's a sub-par sitcom with a videogame dev setting but much like Unsupervised, David Hornsby (Rickety Cricket) steals the show. This week's episode of High Maintenance was a cute episode. Instead of following the life of a character it follows the decades-long life of a lighter. It changes hands multiple times, lives in the bottom of a drawer multiple times, and every gets a facelift a few times.

A stoner tool is finally given the respect and admiration it deserves.

Finally got around to watching Person of Interest after my friend has bugged me about it for years.

It's a neat show but it really hits its stride once the episodes start to become more serialized. I've heard the show referred to as Batman-like (minus the whole gun thing) and it is in the faintest prep-time regards, but it's ultimately a show about spycraft.

I've got two seasons left and my fav character is the dog. That's not to say that the rest of the cast is bad, they're pretty fun.

Just finished Season 2 of Twin Peaks tonight, started on 3 now.
I was kinda almost expecting it to be kinda sucky, I don't know why, just so much garbage coming out. My man Lynch still got it though. Surprisingly... Modern. Like not the kind of modern where it's in your face oh we artsy fartsy and clean, but real modern.

Only the first ep was that clean. As the season goes on it turns really crummy and weird, sometimes it's like laying in a bed full of crumbs, sometimes it's like chewing toffee and it's so chewy it's never finished and it sticks to your teeth.
Not really bad, just weird. Off key, off rythm. It's nice with something different I guess.

It's pure weird. I always get this weird impression that the show doesnt give a fuck if I watch it or not. Like everything is just... naturally occuring. Like how the ocean waves are always crashing, or the sun is always shining.

Unrelated, I'm watching season 2 of altered carbon. I thought the first season told a fairly clean, self-contained story with no where else to go at the end. Still, I like these characters, so I guess I'd like to spend a few more hours hanging out with them.

Binged all of Awkwafina is Nora from Queens (they should really drop the "Awkwafina is" from the title) since the first season wrapped up this week. It's an ok show, but Lori Tan Chinn (Chang from OITNB) steals the fucking show as Nora's grandma. The best episode of the season is a mix of The Princess Bride, Korean dramas, and Drunk History about how grandma met her husband called Grandma & Chill. BD Wong is great in the show as Nora's father as well.

Overall I'd say the show is worth a watch but it's not amazing.
