I made a second episode about Kung Fu Films and The Matrix.

This one is slightly less shit than the first, let me know what you think and any good martial art movie suggestions would be great.

great stuff! It also looked pretty professional, and not like it was made by some 420chan basement dwelling druggie. I'm watching fist of legend tonight

IDK if Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons counts as a kung-fu movie or not but it is great and probably Stephen Chow's best work.

Excuse me?? American Ninja and some of its sequels are masterpieces of cheese.

As for kung-fu movies:
Master of the Flying Guillotine
The Five Deadly Venoms
The One Armed Swordsman
The Wandering Swordsman
Heroes of the East

You can't go wrong with any movie by the Shaw Brothers

Chang Cheh is one of the greatest directors of kung fu. Dive into his filmography.

does it have to be specifically Kung Fu? Because the first thing that jumped out in my mind is Ong Bak, which is muay thai, however Ong Bak 2 is fucking insane and has a ton more styles in it including various kung fu forms. I really love Ong Bak 1 and 2, absolutely fantastic martial arts movies. 1 specifically is a modern classic.

However I would skip Ong Bak 3 unless you were specifically doing some sort of Ong Bak centric (or Tony Jaa deep dive, as ong bak 3 is particularly significant in his story)

Someone mentioned Ip Man and yes, Ip Man is a fantastic recent addition to the martial arts film canon. Donny Yen totally kills it.

Jet Li's Fist of Legend, I used to watch a lot of kung fu movies back when I was heavily smoking and the boxing sequences in this one always stuck with me

I didn't expect much from this movie but it was surprisingly entertaining. It's basically Street Fighter World Tournament: The Movie, as it's about a big tournament with fighters from different countries. The best part is seeing all the different martial arts from different countries, the French guy uses Savate, the Russian guy uses Sambo, etc.

The overall plot is pretty dumb but it's worth watching for the fight scenes.

It's basically 90s Bloodsport. It even involved a Frank Dux lawsuit.

Street Fighter II: the anime movie has surprising realistic & good fight scenes. The normal attacks makes the inevitable special moves more impactful.
