The fact that they have cartoons from the '80s, '90s, '00s, and '10s that include the entire history of the Disney Afternoon programming block as well as the catalog of shows from Toon Disney and Disney XD. This means that I'm going to be spiraling into a pit of nostalgia. I wish I had this service when I was a kid.

I have little to no interest in Disney+, but I'm waiting for them to start selling that "Netflix-killer" bundle with this, Hulu, and ESPN+ for only twelve bucks. I already watch stuff on Hulu more than anything else, and apparently Disney is going to put every R-rated movie they have on there instead of Disney+ since Disney+ is just going to be kiddie shit.

Disney's a symptom of a much bigger problem. Once corporations reach a certain size they start subverting markets and the government.

There really needs to be some mechanism to prevent them from getting out of control in the first place.

Breaking it up still allows the new parts to exploit their monopoly of the parts they own, or behave like an oligopoly rather than compete with the other parts. See AT&T.

If Disney is nationalized and the older IPs made public domain, we can enable new art to build off them just as their works built on older works.
Putting the rest of the Disney apparatus under the control of an entity that's more accountable to society will certainly result in better outcomes for society than if it's accountable only to a handful of capitalists.

I got it now for one year free and it’s a pretty vast library movie and show wise though there are a few they don’t got like The Jersey for example, I read the Monday Night Football Club as a kid so it sucks they don’t have it. At least they got Even Stevens, the classic Disney Channel Original Movies I grew up with like Brink!, Johnny Tsunami, Stepsister from Planet Weird, etc. Really outside of those, the Disney and Pixar animated films, and the Star Wars and MCU, the price point for what they offer and that deal with ESPN+ and Hulu makes this seem like a bargain.

I can't afford a laptop but I have roku and can just stream any video I want from websites like putlocker or whatever by using this fairly new app on roku called "Web Video Caster".

Roku has been the best decision for me. You also don't have to deal with having your laptop and cables everywhere every time. You can just pick up the remote. Turn the TV on and go. I have Netflix, Youtube, FITE, some third party free public domain movie apps and then my roommate got Disney+ for his mom so we just use that.

The "Web Video Caster" app is by far the best one I've got though. It scans webpages for m3u8s and streams them so you can effectively stream any video I want to the tv. Including webms n shit.

I really like the new Beatles documentary using the Let It Be footage from the Get Back sessions that Peter Jackson put together.

I suggest watching it if you a fan of the process of making music. You don't really need to be a big Beatles fan but if you don't care about long conversations and jam sessions and the dynamic of being in a band then it's probably not for you. I really enjoyed part 1 though. Had to pause it half way and go back to it as it's quite long.

2002 specifically. The movie seems like a metaphor for going through puberty/menstruation and reviews have been almost universally positive except for one that had some legit criticisms but got canceled:

>CinemaBlend's Sean O'Connell review called the focus on a Chinese Canadian girl as "limiting" to a broad audience, and that "By rooting Turning Red very specifically in the Asian community of Toronto, the film legitimately feels like it was made for Domee Shi's friends and immediate family members. Which is fine — but also, a tad limiting in its scope". The review received backlash by members of the press on social media, calling it "sexist" and "racist." Crew and cast members of the movie eventually spoke up on the case. Lead voice actor Rosalie Chiang said the film was meant to appeal to all: "This is a coming of age film, everyone goes through this change … I think different people of different cultures are going to go through it differently, but at the end of the day, the core messiness and change is something everyone can relate to." As a result of the pushback, CinemaBlend's editor-in-chief Mack Rawden pulled O'Connell's review and apologized publicly for it and that the site had "failed to properly edit" the review before posting; O'Connell also posted his own apology for the review.

I watched it last week but I appreciated the film's coming-of-age story and nostalgia value as someone that was around the same age in 2002 as the film's director Domee Shi and Mei by extension. I do find it funny people were trying to criticize it since it broached the topics of puberty and menstruation openly but I thought Shi handled it respectfully and the literal metaphor of turning into a red panda best was a humorous way to help illustrate those.

>didn't feel like the mom/grandma in this one reckoned with their behaviour really.

By the end of the film, you had Mei reconcile with her mom Ming and helping her mend Ming's bond with her mom Wu, whom Ming had scarred in anger before she sealed her red panda. I thought it was logical to have Mei keep her red panda and Ming accepting that Mei is finding her own path and letting her have her own social life. Obviously, Ming is basically a stereotypical tiger mom but the film does highlight the generation gap between Asian parents who had immigrated or grew up in households of immigrant parents and their children who were born/grew up in Western countries like Canada and the struggle Mei goes through.
