Surprised there’s no thread about this yet but for $140 million and 3 1/2 hours on Netflix, does Martin Scorcese’s latest mob epic live up to the hype and being called the best film of 2019 and his past films like Goodfellas and Casino?

Saw it in theaters a few weeks back.
I liked it, and it,s a nice send off to those actors and these kinds of movies in general, though it isn't as good as goodfellas or casino. 7/10 for me, loved how it ends. Long movie though, I don't see it getting much praise with modern audiences outside of avid Scorsese fans.

Parasyte is my movie of the year so far, though I still have quite a lot to watch

Fanfuckingtastic movie. Will win many awards, and it should.

Casting, music, visuals.. Martin Scorsese formula always works for me.

It is not as good as Casino or Goodfellas but still a decent Scorsese movie. It definitely dragged in a couple parts for me.

Really liked it but I felt like the climax of the film felt anti-climactic. Maybe that was the point.

Beautiful film. I watched it miniseries style and was really impressed by everyone's performances, particularly Pesci.

That's what I got. It felt right. The film withers away sadly just like Frank's life did.

Everyone is old as fuck and the story is nothing new, if youd like to see De Niro, Pesci and Pacino be old men on the verge of dying its ok, otherwise jusr depressing.

Agree. It's a technically excellent film from a direction and performance perspective, but it's old fashioned to a fault. There's nothing about it that that you haven't already seen done decades ago, and arguably better. There's also no reason it needed to be 3.5 hours long.

You people complain a lot, I thought it was great and I haven't even seen it

Thanks for the heads up guys!
Great movie. Definitely worth a watch.
Interesting story based on history which I'd only heard pieces of before.
Great acting by Pacino and Joe Pesci!

The film, like The Godfather, exposes how society functions behind the curtains.
Definitely a worthy addition to previous works on the same subject like Goodfellas and The Godfather.
A less energetic film with a tone and tempo that reminded me of The Sopranos.
Not really an epic like the Godfather and not an energetic coke party like Goodfellas, but somewhere in between.

But was Hoffa retarded or what?
Several warnings from the mob and a final warning...?
I can't feel sorry for him after that.
