Bullet in the head

If you thought The Deer Hunter would have been better if John Woo decided to make it and add his signature style of action scenes and drama then this movie is for you.

Starship Troopers is my favourite satirical movie about war, and apparently they're making a real sequel with the original cast, so I'm pretty hype

I hope that's not the case. It wasn't a great cast of actors, and I think that was intentional by Paul Verhoeven. Now if he's back to direct I'd be interested, but I'd still rather see him return to sci-fi with something fresh. Plus RoboCop and Total Recall are proof enough for me that once the mad Dutchman has made it no sequel or remake is going to top it.

The asteroid even almost smashes into the spaceship of the smart girl. They knew it was coming and planned for it.

>Triumph des Willens

Triumph of the Will is not a war film. It's a nationalist film that preceded a nationalist war.

and therefore a film that "deals with war" as the OP asked. If Children of Men counts as a war film then it certainly is as well and is worth a watch at least once. I also listed about 27 other films so if you don't agree with that one just move on to another.

Movie Help

There is a Vietnam war movie (fictional) that follows a French squadron as they retreat from behind enemy lines to home base. The Squad leader is a French-German ex-Wehrmacht soldier.

It is an older movie but is noted for the realism and accuracy of its portrayal of combat engagements and fleeing ambushes. So much so that it used to be shown to French servicemen.

I found it through IMBD message boards but now it's like the movie never existed at all. I seriously cannot find it.

You're talking about La 317 eme Section aka The 317th Platoon.

When looking for French "Vietnam war" films you have to search for Indochina war films.

Alan Rickman's last acting role
Eye in the Sky is less about the explosions and more about the people behind the attack. It shows the pilots, military commanders and politicians arguing about the best course of action.

also Midway from last year was surprisingly good from a historical perspective. Nice to see Japs treated with decency, and no gay agenda driven. A little disjointed cause it tries to cram so much in but it's good

I was getting amped up for a minute there, but the gay marriage stuff ruined it lol. I just want battles, myabe one scene at the end with the death note to the wife at most.

One thing about Midway, and that clip too, is that people say the CGI is over the top or cartoonish, but I get the impression that it recreates the actual combat scene as it was IRL many times greater than any live action/model stunt set movie in the past 50 years. It looked like a Transformers movie for a minute with the quick cuts and bright effects (Midway I'm talking about) but after I got acclimated to it I realized this is probably what actual combat looked like back then, something not really represented on flim until recent cgi enabled it. I reiterate that Midway was def good and worth checking out.

We have a lot of footage from WWII, including naval combat. I wouldn't be surprised if we literally had some footage from the battle of midway.

Hell we have footage from WWI and there was literally an entourage of camera men following Pancho Villa during the Mexican Revolution, but a lot of that footage was acquired by the major studios, then left to rot because preserving history isn't profitable, and releasing the copyright isn't profitable.
