I watched it last week but it is a fascinating look at the exotic pet industry and Joe, Carol, Doc, Jeff, and all of them are cut from the same cloth regardless of what their intentions are. I did get a good laugh at Joe's lip synced music videos and the fact that he was trying to defend burning all those documents that would have implicated him.

I felt like it maybe could have done with being one episode shorter, but other than that it kinda lived up to the hype. It's the team that made the Fyre documentary which I also enjoyed.

America is fucking mental man.

Part of me wants to dislike this because I feel like the format already annoys me and we'll just keep seeing more and more from Netflix but at the same time this provided me with some big laughs. Joe Exotic is a shitty person, but some of his cracks and songs were genuinely funny.

If only he used that energy on something positive.. Maybe he wouldn't be dying in prison.

Like they're all living in lavish conditions and making the absolute dumbest decisions for the parks, while the workers and cats live in absolute squalor, have to deal with the fallout from the shithead owners, and aren't even making minimum wage, but have had their options reduced by being there that they can't leave.

What the fuck was that. They all belong in jail.
The editing on the last few episodes was pretty dishonest, trying to make it look like Joe could squeeze out some plausible deniability or sell the jury on a conspiracy by the way they just had a 10 second blurb and quickly paved over the fact that Joe directly solicited a Fed to make a hit
Also pretty weird that no one got hit with conspiracy charges, since accepting the money and then setting out on the road is more than enough to nail them all to the wall. Teardrop dude even fucked himself by talking first without a lawyer, easiest confession and conviction ever.

I just want to know how someone goes from disowned, suicidal, paralyzed, flat-broke faggot, into methed out millionaire polyamorous tigerlord.
I'd sell my bhole for unlimited drugs, guns, and baby tigers, though.

I'm kinda confused that Carol gets all the hate. I mean yeah she almost definitely killed her husband and stuff, but overall I felt the entire vibe of Joe was WAY worse than Carol. Anyone supporting anything about Joe makes me confused.

lol nope. She's basically doing the same thing that Joe and Doc were doing except she's doing it under the guise of humanitarianism and animal rights.

She's more successful than any of them at the game each owner is playing.
She's got a bigger house, brings in more profit, pays her workers less, a bigger audience, has more political influence, and is closer to achieving a monopoly on access to/preservation of large cats in the US than anyone else.

I mean the series does focus on Joe's narrative and paints Carole in a hypocritical light. There was an article on Elle that talked about that:

>For example, the show touches on the fact that tigers can't be released into the wild after being domesticated during cub-hood. Although, it doesn't explain that tigers bred in captivity are not the antidote to the endangerment of the species, as they are technically known as 'generic tigers' that are typically mixed sub-species that are not found naturally in their countries of origin, where they could no longer survive as a result.

>Unfortunately, because this fact was not explained in the show, the series made Carole appear hypocritical for keeping the cats she rescued in captivity. However, in reality, there is no other option left for these animals. They cannot be released into the wild because they will not survive, so unless they are saved and live out their days in a sanctuary, they are still at risk of unethical breeding or even being killed in private zoo circles.

>On a related note, there are allegations that the show deliberately portrayed Big Cat Rescue in a negative light, which was the only place in the series dedicated to rescuing animals and not breeding them—and is reportedly affiliated with the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries, a non-profit organisation that provides certification for animal sanctuaries, rescue centres, and rehabilitation centres through verification and accreditation. In fact, the one person who preached about the plight of the animals in the show was Carole.

Not that I disagree with how Tiger King portrayed her though they could have had more fair and balanced perspectives.

>>414830
Yeah she doesn't, they're volunteers. The series didn't mention that Big Cat Rescue forbids volunteers or staff from touching the animals or else they're fired for doing so.

>Not that I disagree with how Tiger King portrayed her though they could have had more fair and balanced perspectives.
Since the show was about the people not the animals there wasn't any focus on any real conservation efforts. They could have interviewed independent experts but that would have made a different show.
But I think the over-arching narrative that tigers are in any way special in comparison to other animals we keep for instance as livestock is very hypocritical.
