This show looks exactly like Avenue 5 except they swapped out Hugh Laurie for Steve Carell, and Zach Woods for Jian Yang from Silicon Valley.

I just don't see how this can be good? It feels like it's trying to capitalize on dumb Trump moment #24754, but that moment was already months ago and it seems so mild now by comparison. How many jokes can be wrung out of that? Like, this feels like if instead of trying to do "Parks and Rec" they tried to do a show about setting up the Obamacare website, waaaaay too specific. The Office and shows like that work because the premise is general enough that even if you don't work in an office its such a common experience that it's easy to ply it into weekly episodes. How many people can relate to the premise of trying to subdivide branches of the military?

Best case scenario is this show pulls an American Dad, drops the original premise completely and devolves into wacky character shenanigans. But Netflix doesn't renew OG programs for more than 2 seasons now I heard? And we already have American Dad...

Who is this show for? Would even those people watch more than 6 episodes of this? Maybe it'll be a limited series not planned to continue...

Oh wow I completely forgot that show existed. I remember seeing commercials for it attached to episodes of Silicon Valley during the last season. Did that show air and get canceled already?

This doesn't look anything like Avenue 5 but I agree Avenue 5 is awful.

I am confused though because avenue 5 was O.K..... I admit that most of the shit did not really appeal to me but i did get some cheap hysterical laughs from it and that is more than i normally get.

It's watchable -- a lot of television is -- but as an HBO series, from the same creator as Veep and The Thick of it, my expectations were much higher. It did not deliver anywhere near the same caliber of intelligent, witty dialogue as those other series.

Just out of curiosity, how far through it did you get? I felt like AV5 didn't really start to make use of its space ship premise until the oxygen leak episode. Which was kind of late into the season, but I thought it really came together.

Zach Woods was fucking great even with no context though.

I watched it for Zach Woods, but I canceled my HBO subscription recently and didn't feel like going to the effort to stream it online until now.

I flipped to the 6th episode and it was pretty funny, but there's only 9 episodes, and if it takes six for the show to get into it's groove then that's not a good thing.

Reviews are coming in aren't great. They all have varying takes but they agree on one thing; that the show is painfully unfunny.

Sad to hear, but I'll still give it a shot.

we have to watch this show because it's anti-Trump and if we don't watch it and tell everyone we love it, what if people accidentally mistake us as being pro-trump? Then we'd have to live in a cave in the woods forever. Dear TV, please make all TV super-political, it makes watching so much fun.

How does this compare to Other Space? Was interested in Avenue 5 since I liked Veep but dunno if I should watch that now. Sucks this show is a disappointment though.

I also got Netflix/Hulu/Amazon/Disney+ but I also have HBO, Showtime, Quibi, Apple TV+ and Peacock. All of those I either share with my friend or I got them as part of a free trial.

It's dogshit. The only thing people care about is the new season of Reno 911. Unfortunately people without Quibi can't watch it because they still don't have a TV-version of the app we were promised. Be patient, the rips are a coming.

Honestly, how would you like to watch a movie in 10 minute increments where you have to come back the next day/week to see what happens next? All the executives are blaming quibi's failure on corona-chan but it's clear that they monumentally fucked up with their bite-size business model.

There have been rips for weeks now at least of Reno 911. Its not so bad with Reno because its mostly just a bunch of random-ish segments anyway. I did watch them all together though.

Space Force sucks. I'm going to talk about Reno 911 instead.
I like this show in short bursts but I find it hard to watch at times as the cast is so small it's distracting knowing that the perps are also the police cast. It would be more immersive if half the people they interacted with weren't also clearly played by the same troupe.
