A lot of the visuals look really boring, there's barely any color. Just look at that last scene with the sandworm, what happens is pretty exciting and awesome but they show it in the most uninteresting way possible.

The costume designs are also boring, they look like rejected ideas from the new Star Wars movies.

I only read Dune this year and have no clue what adaptations to watch, if any. Or what sequel/prequel books are worth a damn. So far people seem to say "Just read them in publication order and stop when you get bored because they'll only get worse from there."

I like it. The scenery looks like a better version of the miniseries with the original look of the stillsuit.

Lynch's Dune is visually beautiful and doesn't follow the source material precisely.
SyFy's Dune is strictly made-for-TV quality but follows the source material closely.
Read all the books by Frank Herbert and skip anything written by his son or that other guy who's name is unimportant.

Agreed. Lynch was the first to put it on screen and set the standard, and made it visually entertatining he earned that. The mini-series really spent the time and decent budget for the time, to be true to the lore but still give enough eye candy to keep you interested. I took a break from the Dune novel and have been reading lighter stuff. It's hella dense with immersive made up shit.
