South Park kicks off its 24th season with its first-ever hour long episode The Pandemic Special tonight at 8pm EDT on Comedy Central.

>Randy comes to terms with his role in the COVID-19 outbreak as the ongoing pandemic presents continued challenges to the citizens of South Park. The boys happily head back to school but nothing resembles the normal that they once knew; not their teachers, not their homeroom, not even Cartman.

welp
Hulu sold SouthPark streaming rights off to HBO Max
CC website isn't streaming this either

where the fuck is a strictly limited to Mobile Device viewer like me supposed to get a free stream of this show now? Hulu was it, and if not then their own website always did it....

Fuck HBO god dammit.

Each season has been worse than the last.

>Randy jizzing in his Pandemic Special as a COVID-19 vaccine that ends up having a side effect of giving people mustaches like his after fucking a bat and pandolin

I laughed pretty hard at all that. Also I sympathize with Cartman not wanting to go back to school. If I was his age, I'd probably have felt the same way. Overall I thought it was enjoyable though I dunno if they needed an hour for that.

Not really. There are peaks and valleys, and the show is far past its prime, but they haven't managed to make a worse episode than the PewDiePie episode so far. "Band in China" was as good as the show back in the day.

This was hilarious, I appreciated the length. My kid also loved it, it's their first season watching week to week after binging it all during quarantine.

I still enjoy it most the time. Only have a couple memories of episodes that missed since 2018 + still has 3 more seasons on paper.

I remember starting my first episode back in actual 4th grade. I didn't realize the show maintains that timeline and forever keeps the main characters in fourth grade.

Im catching the next episode in a couple hours on the southpark website. Little behind the regular airtime.

They started in third grade but moved to fourth grade in season 4 but South Park and a lot of other animated shows have a floating timeline.

It was alright, chuckled a few times but it's kinda up it's own ass a bit
"I hope everyone enjoys the PANDEMIC SPECIAL" gets old pretty quick

Little too long IMO, but a solid laugh and it fulfills the primary function of Art in society being to reflect the world in a state of decay while inspiring change. Can't really complain, personally. I'm gonna rewatch it because the next episodes aren't weekly and the writing of the show is affected by the pandemic now, too. No idea when the next is but we might be due for several more pandemic specials aka longer but fewer episodes this season.

Southpark's website, CC aka comedy central/south park.

New episode is up, second episode isn't yet announced.

Brace for a chaotic schedule.

I have a feeling there won't be anything else in 2020. Maybe another "special" for the election. COVID screwed up their whole "6 days to air" gimmick and now they're refusing to make a season like normal cartoons, ahead of time. Which might be a good stance to take, it's how the show stays timely. IDK, i'm mad anyway and want more eps.

It usually is. Even Kyle self-referenced that in Cartoon Wars.

Yeah it seems like we won't actually be getting season 24 for a while but we can still use the thread to discuss until it starts.

personally I got back into the show around 2017, found out it was on Hulu before that and got all caught up with nostalgia starting around the Membah berries ark when they shit on Hollywood making remakes of everything ever instead of letting new ideas flourish amidst a monopolized "free" market.

Since then, I tunes in weekly for every season I think since 2017-present. I hadn't learned how they did things until then. Always just caught it at random and occasionally before then, but loved it all. I had to start keeping up after binging it all and finally learning their schedule and writing process etc. So this kind of disappoints me as im still just a few years in to really following it LIVE and shit.

I decided to check out some of the later seasons starting with the memberberries one and it fucking sucks now. How is 4th grade now 90% about relationships and politics? When I was in 4th grade that was like less than 1% of what life was about.

Most people disliked that season

Some are hit or miss. They assumed Hillary was going to win and shaped the first episode around that which fucked a lot of shit up
