Netflix's adaptation of Jupiter's Legacy came out on Friday. It's been getting mixed reviews but maybe it's better than Iron Fist?

I am surprised that so far nobody has adapted Soon I Will Be Invincible, the fact that half of the story (and arguably the most important half) is told from a supervillain's POV would be enough of a sellling point.

Its...okay
The asynchrinous storyline helps in some parts but the story flounders at the end imo
It raised alot more questions than answered them which is a problem for a show thats only like 6hrs long, I could not give less of a shit about watching a second season

Venom acted like a dork and Eddie is being made to appeal as the Reluctant Male Wife of Carnage according to the LGBTQ community who may just be trolling there.

Not only was Venom portrayed like a joke same as the rest of the superheroes in cinema post-2000s Spider-man trilogy but also Venom is now some friendly "Greets your store owner every week" type persona who just hangs with Eddy.

Whole thing reeks, worse than the first movie, and this is likely all we're getting out of Venom for a long time if ever again, is this franchise.

not even kidding you that LGBTQ twitter is and was literally all about Eddie being obviously made to appeal to them in that sense of being the reluctant Male Wife to Venom / Kleetus' characters. That's literally how they feel the dynamic was made to reflect for them as an audience.

Same way they were mentioned Sweaty Nervous Uncomfortable Eddie as a good thing instead of being "made sexy like all the MCU."

So, in reality, not big boomer at all. Actually more in tune w/ teh interwebz than even you who didnt know any of this, apparently. Nice job noticing that ADHD though.

Whatever about sperging about LGBT issues above which I give little to no fucks about....

Invincible huh? Who else really enjoyed it? I hate capeshit normally (I disengaged completely with the Marvel hugbox and the tryhard DCEU skullduggery) but this is something special.

I relate it more to The Boys and that's not a particularly hot take, I've heard a lot of people feel the same way.

It feels "Weighty" instead of edgy, like GoT where actions have consequences, there's no such thing as a "safe" character with plot armor.

Hell even Omniman, who is revealed to be a pretty not good guy and is modelled after Superman doesn't feel safe in this universe, whereas when you watch anything Superman related, you just know he's going to be a-ok because he's the model guy and his tremendous power outside of kryptonite will keep him from harm. There appears to be a "roof" to power (in contrast to DBZ where there just isn't) and that's pretty refreshing.

Looking forward to Season 2.

Ad hominem
Invalid form of argument
unaccepted in actual debate rooms
Try actually making a point about what I said.

Facts are facts, you couldn't even deny my points because they're true and actually based in reality over some delusional boomer's opinions. Lgbtq twitter noticed all of that and people still were willing to admit Venom being more of a joke in this than before, which was already not a serious portrayal of the character as people envision.

What, you can't manage actual in depth discussion on this without being more fixated on the mere potential that a boomer is writing you? Pathetic.

Guess we’ll see what the context of that is. I’m really looking forward to Eternals to see how Chloe Zhao’s direction will make the film stand out from the previous Marvel films. It does also help that Marvel has given Zhao a lot of creative freedom especially with being able to shoot on location for most of the film instead of in studio.

Watched the first four episodes of Invincible. I really like the art style and it’s like a throwback to the 80s and 90s type animated superhero shows like Captain Planet and stuff. I was surprised at the big names they got for the voice cast but I feel like they’re a fit. I do like the whole unraveling of the mystery of why Omni-Man killed the Guardians as well as how Invincible handles the power and responsibilities of being a superhero while being a high schooler like Spider-Man.

I feel like Omni-Man and Homelander would get along.

IMO Batman TAS has quite a few bad episodes, weird uninteresting villains or just an outright boring slow story.
The majority of it is still good though, and a bunch of key episodes are REALLY good.

Just be aware that if you decide to watch it all you're gonna hit a stinker every now and then.

I guess because it's a product of it's time and/or the writers were still trying to find their footing. Because all the later shows are much more consistent quality wise.

That's how I sort of compare Superman TAS to Batman TAS. Batman has higher highs and lower lows, but people only remember the highs. Superman TAS barely had a bad episode at all, but nothing as great as the top Batman TAS episodes.

That's also a good example of the perception people have not only on the quality of the show's writing but also of the animation. I've had arguments with people who take that one Clayface episode that TMS did with the HOLY SHIT THIS IS AWESOME sequence (you probably know which one!), and seem to remember as that was normal in the show instead of an extraordinary bump in quality.

Yeah I watched them yesterday. I knew that the season would eventually led up to Omni-Man revealing his true self and intentions to Invincible but I was not expecting it to get as intense as it did especially with Omni-Man committing grievous acts of child abuse against Invincible and that was hard to watch especially Debbie watching all of that unfold and hearing Omni-Man's speech about why he killed the Guardians of the Globe and that she is just a pet to him was a dagger to her heart. Omni-Man may have seen his own humanity and love for Invincible flash before his eyes and not died on his way back to his home planet but it doesn't change what happened. I do like the show's universe and all of the different heroes and villains. I did find it interesting how Titan used Invincible and the Guardians to take Machine Head's spot as the top crime boss and Omni-Man was actually right about knowing who to trust.

Pretty good, I liked that it felt wholesome but still had an edge. Reminded me of the 80s kids movies that din't shy away from having violence and putting the characters in danger.

I found it a bit jarring that Billy as a kid behaved less childish than his transformed counterpart, I think Zachary Levi overdid it a bit, but still a decent comedic performance. It was a bit odd that while Mary is the second most popular of the Marvels, she barely did anything after transforming. Hell, she actually was more useful before the transformation.

Another thing, the movie actually made me feel bad about the villain. What happened to Sivana was awful, and the Wizard was a massive asshole.

And yeah, Darla is an angel and her smile should be protected at all costs.

I watched Tom Jane Punisher and guy from Rome punisher. I feel like tom janes was 8/10 and warzone was 7/10. With tom janes punisher the movie didn't have to have punisher in the name, it was a amazing mob revenge movie in its own merits. Warzone tried to do a true punisher comic movie thats softened down; that and the terrible cgi blood dropped it a point from the first. Warzone had way better action scenes, and fronk looked closer to the true comic version in this one, TJ's hair was too light brown.

>live action voice actors are often shit animated voice actors.
Hollywood actors in general make for bad voice actors cos many don't know how to act with just their voices. Considering it's an alternate universe "What If", there was no need to use the same actors as the MCU movies.
Then again Hollywood has always made a big need about famous but washed-out actors. Recent example is proudly announcing that Slyvester Stallone was the voice of King Shark side-character in SUICIDE SQUAD (2021).

I got caught up on What If...? and while it's a cool alternate universe type show, the scenarios feel very small-time and not much of a variation on what actually happened. And I do agree that the voice acting isn't as good but voice acting for animation and acting in live action are different beasts. I got a feeling that Marvel is gonna try and milk the shit out of Captain Carter somehow. T'Challa as Starlord was pretty interesting and nice to hear Chadwick Boseman give one final performance on this show. But man that Dr. Strange episode was really depressing but probably the best episode so far.

92% on RT so far though imma wait till it hits Disney+. You don't have to be Chinese to see it like you don't have to be black to see Black Panther. I'll definitely see it especially for Tony Leung finally making his long-awaited Hollywood debut because he's one of Hong Kong's finest actors and I know people on here know what I'm saying. Not to mention veteran actors like Ben Kingsley and Michelle Yeoh in there too so there's potential there.

I also expect Awkwafina to do what she does in that sidekick comic relief to the main character, which she does well in films like in Crazy Rich Asians, Raya and the Last Dragon, and Ocean's 8 though it does risk her being typecast into these sorts of roles. As for Simu Lee, I haven't watched Kim's Convenience but he's certainly got the look and charisma to become one of Hollywood's biggest Asian actors.

I finally saw Shang-Chi today. It was a lot better than Black Widow and it's probably now in my top ten MCU films. The fight choreography was awesome and scenes like fighting on the bus and on the side of the building were like something you'd see out of Jackie Chan/Jet Li type martial arts films so I marked out for that. The storytelling was pretty straight forward and typical Chinese mysticism fare but I liked seeing Wenwu's transformation trying to leave his criminal life behind only to be brought back in because of his wife's death. Tony Leung is such an incredible actor and for this film to finally be his Hollywood debut certainly hit the mark. I also thought Simu Liu has a good screen presence and chemistry with Awkwafina.

Watched the season finale of What If? I like the concept of the show but I feel like Marvel could do better with some of the scenarios it came up with for this season. The season finale felt like an alternate version of Endgame condensed in 30 minutes.

That new The Batman movie looks set to top box office sales. I can't get over how they rehash the basic comic stuff and people larp it up? Try and catch a new gen into it and we have constant comic movies making molla.
Michael Keaton is reprising the role as Batman in HBO max's movie Batgirl this year. Batgirl was bad back in the original movies, could be as an awful idea as Catwoman. But hay new gen only takes <15 years so they can keep piling the crap up, right?

The Batman is surprisingly dark. And I mean that in a strictly visual sense.

How did they spend on $100 million on this? And who OKed it? And I mean that as a compliment. Hats off for making a big budget mainstream movie that will be absolutely unwatchable on afternoon basic cable.

The politics of it were wishy washy, but what do you expect. It was nice to see Batman actually saving people, but I guess that's what heroes do when they're not written by cooks. Dano's big scene was great. Penguin felt like he belonged in a different movie and which again I mean as a compliment.

you’re imagining this.

Art reflects the times, the modern issues, and in case you forgot D. Roof who HBO has a documentary mentioning regarding everything you jabbed at. Specifically a documentary involving Q which focuses heavily on chan culture and 4chins images and website screencaps were featured, as well as interviews from known chan users.

You’re on a chan site right now. Kinda weird framing the film as taking a swipe when they’re just reflecting the modern super villains who have weaponized the internet as a whole. Congratz, you’re here supporting that monster as we speak lol

good movie tbh i liked the Riddler having online supporters teaching him the ways was cool but even Jim Carrey as the Riddler played a sort of internet computer nerd gone mad. Not really new or out of character for them to do. Just a more futuristic and modern take on the character.

Finished Moon Knight, which I appreciated the darker tone and Oscar Isaac did a pretty good job playing two different personalities and three by the mid-credits scene in the finale. The only thing I wished they had done more of was highlighting his abilities more and the whole "Steven blacks out when Marc takes over and it cuts to after he kills everyone" was kind of a lame way to show their split. I feel like some of the Egyptian mythology missed its mark and went over people's heads with trying to follow the plot though I felt it was pretty straightforward.[/%] I thought episode 5 was probably the best one and it was a deep dive into Marc's backstory and why he created Steven. Episode 6 at least felt like typical MCU fare but it was cool.

I also went to see Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness on Saturday. Sam Raimi's directing was sorely missed and was a lot more violent than I thought it would be but it was fun especially zombie Doctor Strange. I did mark out for Professor X's return and Reed Richards, which at least gives us hope that they'll introduce X-Men and Fantastic Four into the MCU sooner than later. I can imagine people hating on this film because of its darker tone reminiscent of Batman Returns but it was enjoyable.
