NEW YORK — Law enforcement officials say that wealthy financier Jeffrey Epstein has been arrested in New York on sex-trafficking charges.

Two law enforcement officials said Epstein was taken into federal custody Saturday on charges involving allegations that date to the 2000s.

The officials spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the pending case.

Epstein is expected to appear Monday in Manhattan federal court. A message was sent to his attorney seeking comment.

Epstein’s arrest was first reported by The Daily Beast.

You're not just lying, you're completely inverting reality.
Trump had actually banned Epstein from his Mar-a-Lago holiday resort, and he enthusiastically volunteered any information he could to get Epstein behind bars:
https://news.vice.com/en_us/article/j59vm8/the-salacious-ammo-even-donald-trump-wont-use-in-a-fight-against-hillary-clinton-bill-clinton

Meanwhile:
>In September 2002, Epstein flew Bill Clinton, Kevin Spacey, and Chris Tucker to Africa in his private jet. According to flight records, Bill Clinton flew on Epstein's plane 26 times.[59]

Trump has actually been named in a criminal case and the victim was promptly mysteriously silenced. Yet those just doesnt seem to go away does it? Curious that Trump flew on that same plane, and has a known predilection for young girls, has a modeling agency which is a known vehicle for sex services and sex trafficking which is exactly what Epstein did with his modeling agency, that Epstein refused to talk about Trump attending these things at "orgy island" and also that really bizarre child molester relationship he seems to have with his favorite daughter.

This is interesting.

https://www.theamericanconservative.com/dreher/the-jeffrey-epstein-scandal-pederast-acosta/

Alex Acosta was lead prosecutor in Epstein's original case. Despite "thousands" of images of multiple victims found stored in Epstein's safe along with other records, giving them plenty to investigate and prosecute for, Acosta settled for state charges which gave Epstein 13 months in county jail. FBI was made to shut down their further investigation and Alex Acosta then goes on to become Trump administrations labor secretary.

>Acosta, in 2011, would explain that he was unduly pressured by Epstein’s heavy-hitting lawyers — Lefkowitz, Harvard professor Alan Dershowitz, Jack Goldberger, Roy Black, former U.S. Attorney Guy Lewis, Gerald Lefcourt, and Kenneth Starr, the former Whitewater special prosecutor who investigated Bill Clinton’s sexual liaisons with Monica Lewinsky.
Acosta also described what he called a “year-long assault’’ on prosecutors by Epstein’s “army of legal superstars’’ who, he said, investigated individual prosecutors and their families, looking for “personal peccadilloes’’ to disqualify them from Epstein’s case.
I'm reminded of SLC Punk where the father tells the son, "I didn't sell out. I bought in."

>Dershowitz, in an interview, denied that Epstein’s lawyers would ever investigate prosecutors.

Right, because didn't do precisely that during other high profile cases like sayyy, OJ Simpson's trial.

Trump has been close to him for 15 years. Other sources confirm that they were close like Caron Bernstein, a model who confirmed Trump and Epstein went clubbing together:
>I was at clubs like eight nights a week in those days and ran with an entourage. We'd have all these club kids and models, and the night would start at a place called Pure Platinum on 21st Street, which is basically a strip club. There'd be all these girls that were known for their bodies, like Maureen Gallagher. They would get onto the poles with the strippers. It was more lax about doing drugs out in the open in public than the regular nightclubs, so we would start the night out at these strip clubs and it became a frenzy. I would see [sex offender Jeffrey] Epstein, Trump, like all the old geezers, at that place too. It would be the prequel to whatever club we were going to, like the earlier part of the night, 11:00, 11:30.

actually I misspoke, in 2002 when Trump gave that quote he had been close to him for 15 years. It's been much longer now. He was willing to cover for his buddy in 09 and they use the same lawyer, (who surprise surprise has also been accused of raping kids with Epstein)Alan Dershowitz.

>Brad Edwards, an attorney who has represented some of Epstein’s alleged victims, said he sought out Trump in 2009, seeking to interview Epstein’s acquaintances.

>“Trump was “the only person who picked up the phone and said, ‘Let’s just talk. I’ll give you as much time as you want. I’ll tell what you need to know,’ ” Edwards said in a 2018 interview on YouTube. In that interview, Edwards said Trump “was very helpful in the information that he gave and gave no indication whatsoever that he was involved in anything untoward whatsoever.” Edwards said he never took Trump’s deposition.

All that'd happen is we'd get 100 new top wealthiest people, who will probably be even shittier and even less ethical than the 100 they replaced.

Like when the soviet union dissolved and they equally distributed all of the state assets to the people as stock certificates, which let oligarchs take control.

That's how the oligarchs got their power: they sat on street corners in moscow buying shares off of people who wanted 20 bucks for booze money and had no understanding at all about how much their shares were actually worth.

Reminder that for most of that time in "jail" Epstein was allowed work release where he could go to his luxury office and have female visitors in private. This whole thing was so ridiculously blatantly a rich guy paying to have special treatment. He got special terms to take him to a special jail, he got special work release treatment that no one else got, he got the Manhattan DA to argue that he shouldn't be charged as a sex offender in the state of NY, he got the Florida US attorney to only charge his crimes as if there was a single victim rather than the 50 or so the FBI had collected evidence on at the time, then he broke the law and didn't inform the victims that he was making a plea deal. The plea deal also gave Epstein and his accomplices complete immunity from any other charges. It was fucking insane. And now the guy has been promoted to one of the highest posts in the federal government by Epstein's good long-time friend the current US president.

Guess who's going out of her way to protect Trump's pedo-enabling buddy from Congressional oversight!
http://nymag.com/intelligencer/2019/07/nancy-pelosi-is-hurting-the-democratic-party.html
>Acosta, with his baggage from the past and struggles in the present, is both an appropriate and easy target for House Democrats. Or he would be, if Democrats actually wanted to fully exercise their oversight authority. But that outcome looked distant on Tuesday. Though she’s called on Acosta to resign, Speaker Nancy Pelosi seemed to dismiss the possibility of impeaching him

>"It’s up to the president, it’s his cabinet. We have a great deal of work to do here for the good of the American people and we have to focus on that.”

>Pelosi’s reluctance to investigate Acosta is part of a pattern. She’ll criticize, call on someone to resign, or even permit an investigation, but impeachment is too far. Trump, she said in May, is becoming “self-impeachable,” a nonsensical phrase that absolves her of any responsibility to act. In June, she refused to even censure the president, telling the press that “if the goods are there, you must impeach.” For Pelosi, it seems to be impeachment or nothing, and so far, she’s chosen nothing. Meanwhile, she’s jabbed repeatedly at left-wing policies and progressive members of her own party. The Green New Deal, to Pelosi, isn’t a promising proposal to address a pressing existential crisis; it’s “the green dream or whatever.” When she speaks of the party’s left-wing, four-woman freshman “squad,” Pelosi can sound distinctly sour. “All these people have their public whatever and their Twitter world,” she told New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd, after Ilhan Omar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ayanna Pressley and Rashida Tlaib voted against a humanitarian bill that included funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection. “But they didn’t have any following. They’re four people, and that’s how many votes they got.”
