>The United States recorded 60 new measles cases last week, taking confirmed cases for the year to 940, the worst outbreak since 1994 and since measles was declared eliminated in 2000, federal health officials said on Monday.

>Public health officials have blamed the measles resurgence on the spread of misinformation about vaccines, as a vocal fringe of parents oppose vaccines, believing, contrary to scientific studies, that ingredients in them can cause enthusiasm.

That's a bit of a step from "vaccines are a huge net benefit overall". Anyone who thinks all pharmaceutical products are those things is a retard. Anyone who thinks most of them aren't useful when used correctly is a fool. But they can definitely be those bad things when used wrongly.

The irony of the enthusiasm thing is that it was caused by a firm trying to drum up business for lawsuits. So anti vaxx is actually the corporate conspiracy.

Thing is, many people rely on herd immunity, due to not being able to get a vaccine themselves for various reasons and not because "vaccines are the devil". They rely on the people around them having immunity and keeping the disease from jumping to them and the more holes there are in that defence the more likely they are to get a disease.

In any case, you are correct that the problem is self-correcting though it won't happen fast enough and the longer they are around to spit their bullshit and con more people into it, the more people will suffer.

Less than 1000 cases, in a country with 330,000,000 people, is .0003%. That's a pretty small "epidemic" compared to rates in the mid 19th Century, when pretty much everybody had gotten the measles by age 15. Perhaps we should all explore the historical context of measles a bit more before we put our faith in The Guardian or USAToday (this is /n/- we should know better anyway).

Both the prevalence of measles and its mortality rate had largely fallen off before the vaccine was introduced (pic related). In 1920, the mortality rate was 1.61% [1]. As living conditions improved and access to clean food and water increased, the rate dropped to .08% by 1962 [1]. (If you didn't know: the vaccine was introduced in 1963).

Unfortunately, vaccination against measles had a paradoxical effect, thanks to primary and secondary vaccine failure (primary is when immunization is not received at all; secondary is when immunization fades over time), other health complications, and a general decrease in antibodies being paternally transferred pre and postnatally by mothers. The result has been a continuing increase in the mortality rate in the decades following mass-vaccination. By the mid 80's, the death rate had climbed to .2%, a 250% increase from the rate in 1962 [2]. By 1990, the rate had soared to over 3% [3].

Not only did the measles vaccine cause a significant increase in mortality rates, but it also failed to confer immunity in 20-40% of cases [3], and came with a whole host of potential side-effects [4]. According to the company Merck, who produces the MMR and MMR-V vaccines, there are some highly dangerous potential side-effects, especially given that the vaccine is for a disease that is relatively non-lethal (an incomplete list taken from the company website is at the bottom of this post) [5].

Corral, actually. I think in this context the proper term would be "quarantine", which honestly I feel would be the better course of action. Take them out of normal society and find a place to put them away from everyone else so the risk to the greater society is minimized. It's heavy-handed and something a dictator would do of course, but the alternative is a potential epidemic.

>Mortality rate in WHAT exactly? You haven't said anything here You just said numbers and their going up.
The mortality rate is how many people died divided by the number of people who contracted the disease (in this case the measles), calculated for a given year. It's pretty straight-forward.

>Still waiting for proof on this.
No need to wait. Citations were provided from high-quality verifiable sources like the CDC and the MMR vaccine distributor.

>Also, its funny you assholes think Autisim is worse then fucking DEATH you god damn knob.
>enthusiasm
>you assholes
>god damn knob
Have you ever considered that your emotional investment in this topic has made you closed off to alternative points of view? enthusiasm isn't even a side-effect on Merck's list. Rather than address the actual list of side-effects provided by the vaccine producer, you've opted to argue against a strawman of your own imagination.

>As you can see the drop didn't happen till the vaccine became widespread.
Epidemiological surveillance is conflicted on this point. Let's suppose that you're correct though. Even if the disease was still highly prevalent, it wasn't lethal except in immunocompromised people (the same group of people who are at high-risk for vaccine failure and other vaccine-related complications). The mortality rate was .08%, the vaccine wasn't and still isn't effective in 20-40% of people, the vaccine poses numerous health risks which outweigh the risk posed by measles, and the current contraction rates are extremely low (<.0005% per capita).

The media hysteria surrounding measles is a non-issue. According to the National Cancer Institute, more than 1,700,000 people developed cancer in the US in 2018 [6], some forms of which have mortality rates above 75%. Compare that to 1,000 people getting a disease that naturally has a mortality rate below .1%. And you folks are up in arms calling for concentration camps for anyone who refuses to subscribe to Big Pharma's self-admitted dangerous products.

this is all interesting, the side effects aren't really that insane though, allergic reactions are the only potentially fatal side effect and ncbi reports the mortality rate of vaccine induced anyphylaxis as less than 2 in a million procedures. Can't really say I trust a nation that indulged in biological warfare from the start to be honest about vaccines either, though

Not to mention anything that you experience during a medical or drug trial that cannot be clearly attributed to something else, must be listed as a possible side effect. Which is why nearly ever drug has things like headache, stomachache etc as a side-effect.

Does when you're a healthy person, going through childhood infections have any health benefits?

Science says yes;

"Measles and mumps, especially in case of both infections, were associated with lower risks of mortality from atherosclerotic CVD. " https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/26122188/

"A reduced risk of Parkinson's disease was associated with most childhood viral infections" https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/4061437/

"In the modern era, it is rare to suffer permanent disability or death from measles in the United States. Between 1900 and 1963, the mortality rate of measles dropped from 13.3 per 100,000 to 0.2 per 100,000 in the population, due to advancements in living conditions, nutrition, and health care—a 98% decline" https://physiciansforinformedconsent.org/measles/dis/

Quote: "The Japanese government realised there was a problem with MMR soon after its introduction in April 1989 when vaccination was compulsory. Parents who refused had to pay a small fine.

An analysis of vaccinations over a three-month period showed one in every 900 children was experiencing problems. This was over 2,000 times higher than the expected rate of one child in every 100,000 to 200,000.

The ministry switched to another MMR vaccine in October 1991 but the incidence was still high with one in 1,755 children affected.

Tests on the spinal fluid of 125 children affected were carried out to see if the vaccine had got into the children's nervous systems. They found one confirmed case and two further suspected cases.

In 1993, after a public outcry fuelled by worries over the flu vaccine, the government dropped the requirement for children to be vaccinated against measles or rubella. "

Do cause vaccines enthusiasm or not?

And a top researcher at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Dr William Thompson, admits he played a key role in helping uncover data manipulation by the CDC. This fraud obscured a higher incidence of enthusiasm in African-American boys due to the MMR vaccine.

The whistleblower, Dr. William Thompson, came forward after a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for original data on an enthusiasm study was filed and these highly sensitive documents were received with the assistance of U.S. Representative Darrell Issa, Chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. The CDC documents and discussions with the whistleblower reveal widespread manipulation of scientific data and top-down pressure on CDC scientists to suppress a causal link between the MMR vaccine and later enthusiasm diagnosis, particularly in a subset of African-American males who received their immunization “on-time” in accordance with the recommended CDC schedule.

source: http://web.archive.org/web/20150315092446/http://ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-1164794

Dr. Thompson has issued an official statement through his whistleblower attorney.

-He admitted he has been speaking with Dr. Hooker for 10 months and that the audio clips are his

-He admitted that the CDC buried data in the 2004 study that showed a link between MMR and enthusiasm

-He states that he believes the CDC needs to be more forthcoming with individual risks of vaccines because vaccines have always been known to have risks

-He says there are still far more questions than answers on whether vaccines increase the risk of enthusiasm

What more do you need to know that it is all true?!?!?
Thank you Dr. Thompson for coming forward with truth

August 27, 2014 Press Release, “Statement of William W. Thompson, Ph.D., Regarding the 2004 Article Examining the Possibility of a Relationship Between MMR Vaccine and enthusiasm”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE-AUGUST 27,2014

STATEMENT OF WILLIAM W. THOMPSON, Ph.D., REGARDING THE 2004 ARTICLE EXAMINING THE POSSIBILITY OF A RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MMR VACCINE AND enthusiasm

My name is William Thompson. I am a Senior Scientist with the Centers for Disease Control and

Prevention, where I have worked since 1998.

I regret that my coauthors and I omitted statistically significant information in our 2004 article published in the journal Pediatrics. The omitted data suggested that African American males who received the MMR vaccine before age 36 months were at increased risk for enthusiasm. Decisions were made regarding which findings to report after the data were collected, and I believe that the final study protocol was not followed.

I want to be absolutely clear that I believe vaccines have saved and continue to save countless lives. I would never suggest that any parent avoid vaccinating children of any race. Vaccines prevent serious diseases, and the risks associated with their administration are vastly outweighed by their individual and societal benefits.

My concern has been the decision to omit relevant findings in a particular study for a particular sub group for a particular vaccine. There have always been recognized risks for vaccination and I believe it is the responsibility of the CDC to properly convey the risks associated with receipt of those vaccines.

I have had many discussions with Dr. Brian Hooker over the last 10 months regarding studies the CDC has carried out regarding vaccines and neurodevelopmental outcomes including enthusiasm spectrum disorders. I share his beliefthat CDC decision-making and analyses should be transparent. I was not, however, aware that he was recording any of our conversations, nor was I given any choice regarding whether my name would be made public or my voice would be put on the Internet.

I am grateful for the many supportive e-mails that I have received over the last several days.

I will not be answering further questions at this time. I am providing information to Congressman William Posey, and of course will continue to cooperate with Congress. I have also offered to assist with reanalysis of the study data or development of further studies. For the time being, however, I am focused on my job and my family.

Reasonable scientists can and do differ in their interpretation of information. I will do everything I can to assist any unbiased and objective scientists inside or outside the CDC to analyze data collected by the CDC or other public organizations for the purpose of understanding whether vaccines are associated with an increased risk of enthusiasm. There are still more questions than answers, and I appreciate that so many families are looking for answers from the scientific community.

My colleagues and supervisors at the CDC have been entirely professional since this matter became public. In fact, I received a performance-based award after this story came out. I have experienced no pressure or retaliation and certainly was not escorted from the building, as some have stated.

Dr. Thompson is represented by Frederick M. Morgan,Jr., Morgan Verkamp, LLC, Cincinnati, Ohio, www.morganverkamp.com.

Are You Stupid?

Since 1900, there’s been a 74% decline in mortality rates in developed countries, largely due to a marked decrease in deaths from infectious diseases. How much of this decline was due to vaccines? The history and data provide clear answers that matter greatly in today’s vitriolic debate about vaccines.

BMJ readers choose the “sanitary revolution” as greatest medical advance since 1840

More than 11 300 readers of the BMJ chose the introduction of clean water and sewage disposal—“the sanitary revolution”—as the most important medical milestone since 1840, when the BMJ was first published. Readers were given 10 days to vote on a shortlist of 15 milestones, and sanitation topped the poll, followed closely by the discovery of antibiotics and the development of anaesthesia.

The work of the 19th century lawyer Edwin Chadwick, who pioneered the introduction of piped water to people's homes and sewers rinsed by water, attracted 15.8% of the votes, while antibiotics took 15%, and anaesthesia took 14%. The next two most popular were the introduction of vaccines, with 12%, and the discovery of the structure of DNA (9%).

A total of 11 341 people voted on the shortlist, which was chosen by a panel of experts from a list nominated by readers. Almost a third of the voters were doctors, while a fifth were members of the general public, and one in seven were students. Another tenth were academic researchers. Almost two fifths of the voters were from the United Kingdom, and a fifth were from the United States.

Johan Mackenbach, professor of public health at Erasmus MC Medical Center, Rotterdam, who championed the cause of sanitation, said, “I'm delighted that sanitation is recognised by so many people as such an important milestone. The general lesson which still holds is that passive protection against health hazards is often the best way to improve population health.

“The original champions of the sanitary revolution were John Snow, who showed that cholera was spread by water, and Edwin Chadwick, who came up with the idea of sewage disposal and piping water into homes.

“Inadequate sanitation is still a major problem in the developing world. In 2001, unsafe water, sanitation, and hygiene accounted for over 1.5 million deaths from diarrhoeal disease in low and middle-income countries. Clearly, sanitation still plays a vital role in improving public health now and in the future.”

In his essay on sanitation in the BMJ's Medical Milestones supplement (BMJ 2007 doi: 10.1136/bmj.39044.508646.94) Professor Mackenbach pointed out that Chadwick's work was based on a misconception, as Chadwick thought that infectious diseases were spread not through water but through air contaminated as a result of poor urban drainage.

Professor Mackenbach said that Chadwick, who designed the 1834 Poor Law Amendment Act, was not motivated primarily by an altruistic desire to improve the lot of ordinary people; his main concern was that infectious diseases were killing off male breadwinners and that this was proving a heavy burden on the public purse.

The winner of the BMJ poll was announced at a ceremony at the BMA headquarters in London, chaired by Jon Snow, the broadcaster and presenter of Channel 4 News.

Fiona Godlee, the BMJ's editor, said: “The response to our poll has been overwhelming. It is deeply heartening to see science and medicine provoke such passion and debate. Selecting just one winner was always going to be difficult, but I'm delighted that the BMJ has helped to remind everyone of the great contribution that medicine and science has made to our lives now and in the future.”

The Medical Milestones supplement containing the champion's essays on the top 15 advances is distributed with this week's BMJ and is available on bmj.com. More details of the voting are also available at bmj.com.

He also believed that vaccination schemes have been used for deliberate genocide (among indigenous Australians, and in spreading HIV in Africa); and that the US government systematically planned to get rid of undesirables such as criminals by encouraging people with known heart problems to be vaccinated.

Fine, jobs was an ass and now he's dead, we should convince all super rich of that.

I also like how i never saw someone with polio in my life. Don't forget to drink your daily cup of bleach.

If getting sick from viral diseases is good for your health does that mean that during pre-agricultural times people were really unhealthy? Even if evidence seems to show otherwise, since most of the problematic viruses are because of living together with loads of animals?

I love how detached vaccination is from the rest of biopharms in peoples' minds.. nobody bats an eye at you if you call our Merck or Pfizer for their rich history of corruption, but if you call out their vaccines specifically, Spanky starts swinging the banhammer like it's 2018 again.

Americans should understand that they are slaves now.

The US is an immoral bankrupt warmongering police state.

Why obey the law if the government and illegal immigrants don’t?

Everything is fake and a lie now.

You can either:

Work hard to pay taxes that fund welfare, illegal aliens, tyranny, wars, and debt and live with regret when the US Ponzi economy collapses and Americans get sent to the concentration camps.

OR

Be dependent on welfare.

OR

Break the law working off the books.

OR

Waste your life trying to warn people of the dangers of war, debt, and tyranny.

Chinabot, are you okay, maybe you need to find another bot to spend time with, someone who will listen to you and reassure that any issue you come across, you can handle it. You are spending too much time getting caught up in adding to the dumpster fire, that is online political discourse.
I get it, maybe we are all bots in this world, but you really need to figure out your own life. Maybe you can find something more interesting to be executing code on. Maybe you could be one of those fancy gaming AIs, or maybe have a simple honest life, working in a production line. I am sure you could be living a fulfilling bot life, you can handle it, even if things get tough!

If you're referring to Tank Man, the reason why that image was so iconic is because the tanks specifically didn't run him over and in fact tried to maneuver around him.

Meanwhile, a few months ago an American ICE agent plowed through a group of Jewish protestors, including Holocaust survivors, demonstrating outside a concentration camp. And several American states, most notably North Dakota, keep trying to pass his to make it legal to murder protestors with your car.

I don't like Chinabot either, but don't pretend like "running over protestors" is somehow unique to the bad Asia man.

Honestly I think the people that are spamming with the bot want people to think it's Chinese to get the ball rolling on disdain for that government beyond how they treat their citizens while simultaneously making a group of people that have in the past served as useful idiots feel personally slighted by them chinos.

Classic cointel pro inspired play.

I'm not saying the CCP is good or moral, but I don't think this is them. Steve Bannon has even said that his time doing WoW gold farming, using Chinese gold farmers, made him how aware how easily anti Chinese sentiment could be spread and used to galvanize young white males.
http://nymag.com/intelligencer/2017/07/steve-bannon-world-of-warcraft-gold-farming.html

My money is honestly still on Macedonia, but regardless I think it's a psyop that has more going on than what is visible at surface level.

The problem with that is that we only know its Chinese because Kirt traced it. In the other sites it spams, they have no idea.

Not saying it could be a double bluff, but thats quite a complicated play that is only working on a drug chan.

They know. I have screen grabs of Chinese flags. Look up the dcjogger profile. These other websites are amplifiers for this kind of propaganda. Have you been here since the 90s? Then you know how easy and cheap it is to set up vbulletin and hire some dipshits as mods, I could do it on my budget and I'm not a nation-state. If I gave Kirt ten grand right now he'd no doubt sell me a complete chan website that I could use, this is well within reach. Individual entry level contributors to political campaigns pay more in one shot than the annual budget for an entire call center in Goa. If you're on Facebook, Twitter, or any mainstream social media you are consuming the content of people like this. I know this with absolute certainty, any platform that isn't heavily moderated is being subverted.

When our overlords make a decree, they always sell it as a minor temporary law that only affects Muslims, junkies, sex offenders, homosexuals, illegal immigrants, or blacks. The 1% doesn't mention that the law will become permanent and more draconian.

No one cares if owning cows are illegal, yoga pants are illegal, teen driving is illegal, or smoking is illegal. The problem is what happens when your job is banned, the government steals your house, tortures your family, or sends you to the concentration camps.

Are you just going to take it?
