The Amazon is burning down and Bolsonaro is doing nothing to stop it. Media mostly ignoring it.

Scientists warn that losing another fifth of Brazil’s Amazon will trigger the feedback loop known as dieback, in which the forest begins to dry out and burn in a cascading system collapse, beyond the reach of any subsequent human intervention or regret:

we already have a thread for this >>178571 , and the media isn't ignoring it what the fuck dude it's everywhere
here have some entirely coincidental stories about it

Bolsonaro is a capitalist stooge and a violent fascist but you can't blame him directly for the already in effect climate change, the actual cause of the mass outbreak of forest fires literally everywhere on earth over the last 10 years that's only going to keep getting worse
I'm actually starting to get a little pissed at how blatant the agenda is on this "Bolsonaro burned the forests bad man" train

>I'm actually starting to get a little pissed at how blatant the agenda is on this "Bolsonaro burned the forests bad man" train

It's honestly hypocritical. Yeah Bolsonaro is a fucking denier and a moron, but the ones lighting these fires are both poor ass farmers and massive corporations, clearing the way for the soy and pasture land that fuels the West's need for cheap animal feed and beef. It's so fucking stupid, all these people losing their shit over the loss of rainforest, and buys quarterpounders at McDonalds on the same day.

At least there's talk of banning South American beef in the EU now.

You're fucking stupid if you think we in the West aren't directly at fault for this. Where do you think the demand is coming from?

Honestly I perfectly understand the Brazilians for wanting to earn money on unused land.
Do you eat meat? Then you basically are contributing to this.

Yeah we're all caught up in it but the decisions are being made by transnational corporations with the help of local politicians at the level of the nation-state. Poor farmers are actually being targeted by the Bolsonaro government because their interests don't align with the transnationals. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Landless_Workers%27_Movement

So it's not the "poor farmers" but big rancheros who stand to benefit and who are pushing for this. Don't let the rhetoric of the right fool you on this, they only stand for the little guy in words, and the policies they put into effect only help the big guys beat the little guys.

That only goes for the USA though. European McDonalds meat comes from France and Ireland.

Nah some comes from Amazon too. Given the UK is about the be force fed chlorinated american beef turds by the US that amount will rise.

Oh man I gave up beef specifically really recently because it's literally twenty times worse than chicken. If people just gave up beef and substituted it for chicken then if you eat it once per week it's half as good as going vegetarian. If you eat beef more, the impact is even more pronounced. I was like
>this is the lowest effort change ever

Billionaires were there when Notre Dame burned, they could buy the land up, Bezos could own the Amazon but they don't because they're assholes. They'd rather save the past than the future. Definitely won't be eating any more beef now. Lamb is a treat.

Why would you want Bezos to own the amazon? They only care about profits, when they do donate to a good cause, it's just so they don't have to pay taxes while gaining good PR or name recognition.

Say what you want but Amazon owning the Amazon would be a pretty sweet marketing stunt.

Soy is a major animal feed here in Europe, imported from places like Brazil. Maybe I didn't make this point in my previous posts clear enough.
Even if you eat local beef, you're likely to be contributing.

Now check this out:

It makes too much sense. Why would Bolsonaro be willing to burn bridges and insult foreign powers over the offered foreign help against the fires?
Pride? nope. He's in on it.

Yeah, sure, you can cut out read meat, which has been long touted as a very sensible thing anyway.

But you could also go the other direction, move to Australia and eat many sorts of hunted red meat. But you'd want to like live in a dugout there to avoid the energy costlyness of keeping cool there.

Or you could just import feral donkey meat from there. That does sound pretty tricky ... but I think that wouldn't be too hard turned into donkey jerkey or something. And not even pure donkey, there's all sort of other hugely problematic feral meat.

Hey, donkeys are grey! Whoa! So, then, shouldn't lunchmeat from donkeys also be grey? That means no nasty nitrites! Yay options! Even if it was spam or sausage from feral pork and donkey, there'd still be a good excuse to have it as grey as possible, I mean, why the hell not appreciate some vivid donkey visuality?

But now that China stopped importing america's soy, won't all that excess just go into animal feed? In fact, they should even be able to afford to feed more feed-expensive animals with it.

But then, it would probably be pigs that eat soy the most. Not that i'm saying that cow feed elsewhere doesn't come from the amazon. But then still, there remainst the anticipatable excessive supply of pork, combined with an already existing excess invasive feral pork infestation that needs to be preyed down.

You must have gotten some bad meat. The feral hog meat I've had from just south of the DFW area was pretty fuckin good. Especially when we smoked it.

Depend what goggles you have on. I look at any type of cut of pig or hog and it looks like cut up flesh from a body. I couldn't imagine it.
