New Labour leader purges progressive members for recognizing Israel's role in US police violence

The new UK Labour leader, Keir Starmer, has fired his party's education shadow minister, Rebecca Long-Bailey, for liking an interview with a Labour-supporting actress on Twitter. The interview covered multiple topics, but one of those mentioned was how many American police departments are trained by Israeli police in brutal tactics including the "knee-on-the-neck" move that killed George Floyd. The firing was done at the request of the Israel lobby and continues Starmer's purge of everyone in the party to the left of Tony Blair:

Supposedly, acknowledging this fact of US police training is considered insulting to Israel, and in the UK anything insulting to Israel is considered automatically antisemitic. This is despite the fact that this has been known and acknowledged by multiple outlets including Amnesty International:

Starmer received a lot of money from the Israel lobby in his bid to replace Corbyn as party leader:

And the left wing of the party sees this as the latest power play in his ongoing campaign to purge the party of all remaining Corbyn elements:

Other have noted that this move also comes after Long-Bailey publicly shamed Starmer for joining the Conservative's push to reopen schools despite the pandemic, leading to a predicable doubling in infections:

In short: fuck the neoliberal new Labour party, fuck Israel, and fuck the police

Ok, not to defend Isreal... but laying a knee on someone's throat is not some super secret marshal art that you need to have spies teach people.

That's not even in the realm of the point but thanks for the clever insight

Gotta love how Britain's spent the last 25 odd years trying desperately to Americanize (read: force every major party into a centrist soup where any real option for change is relegated to irrelevant sidelines and internet forums) its politics while still stuck in the delusion that the island isn't just the 51st state.

Well, exactly, so when the Israeli military trains US police, you'd kind of expect them to teach some chokeholds, and probably also egg them on in using them given the gleefulness that Israeli authorities have for killing anyone who isn't an Israeli settler. There's a real similarity between the struggles of Palestinians and the struggles of black Americans, and if the Labour Party can't see that, they've abandoned the internationalism that the workers' movement has always advanced, and are alienating the international working class in order to bend over backwards in deference to Tory talking points that they don't even consistently apply to themselves (the Tories have fucking anti-semites in their party in parliament right now!)

Are you suggesting this is common? Military special forces crosstrain all the time, but there's no pattern of Israelis being hired as trainers by US cities and states. There just isn't.

literally read just the first link in the OP: https://www.amnestyusa.org/with-whom-are-many-u-s-police-departments-training-with-a-chronic-human-rights-violator-israel/

>When the U.S. Department of Justice published a report Aug. 10 that documented “widespread constitutional violations, discriminatory enforcement, and culture of retaliation” within the Baltimore Police Department (BPD), there was rightly a general reaction of outrage.

>But what hasn’t received as much attention is where Baltimore police received training on crowd control, use of force and surveillance: Israel’s national police, military and intelligence services.

>Baltimore law enforcement officials, along with hundreds of others from Florida, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, California, Arizona, Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Georgia, Washington state as well as the DC Capitol police have all traveled to Israel for training. Thousands of others have received training from Israeli officials here in the U.S.

The NYPD alone has over 40,000 officers. You're stretching this to try to make it mean something it really doesn't.

Devil's Advocate, there are far worse Tony-Blair-ian people inside Labour, and frankly Keir Starmer's probably the leftest thing those limey English cunts will get.

Damn, I didn't realize British politics were that right wing, I mean I'm kind of an uncultured retard but I expected they would be at least be pretty left leaning compared to the US and other places given their proximity to countries that atleast have a somewhat strong leftist presence.

To be fair that's a really, really low bar to meet. Being less psychopathically regressive than the US is like beating a kindergartner at basketball.

>given their proximity to countries that atleast have a somewhat strong leftist presence
To be fair, the UK is basically the US of Europe.

I think you're hyperfocusing on one clause in a sentence that doesn't provide exact numbers to try and make it more doubtful that the Israeli military trains US police.

Then, if you finish that sentence and move to the next one, you see:
>Thousands of others have received training from Israeli officials here in the U.S.

Criticism of Israel - a settler-colonial ethnostate that is actively dispossessing religious minorities of their land and property while wantonly killing those locked in Gaza, practically an open air prison - is subject to far more scrutiny than criticism of Cuba, Vietnam, the USSR, the People's Republic of China, and so on. Why? No one but the ideologically committed quibbles like this when it comes to China's Uigher camps, or Cuba's so-called "human rights violations", but defense of Israel is bipartisan, the ideological default in the Anglo world. Why?

And you've written about a plane load of spec ops cops traveling to Israel as if this were a common thing, for Israelis to train US police, and you KEEP INSISTING that it's true when it's not.

I know I harp on about this but what do Australia, the UK and the US have in common? It's the Murdoch empire. Policial dialogue is shaped by this huge media presence so that stuff like not nationalising natural monopolies and using the standard proven response to recession instead of doing something that will make it worse is seem as radical left wing extremism. I suspect they aren't the only rich billionaire led media giants in Australia or the US and they definitely aren't. The UK's leading newspaper is run by the Mosely family, who were nazis in the 30s and hasn't changed much since. One of their most respected papers once wrote an article about how hard the 1 % had it because a family had to choose between renting a 3rd home £40k/year private school for their kids and a second international holidau.

Trump has been the biggest gift the right wing in the rest of the world has ever had though because every time they do something diabolical he does something stupid or worse. I mean our government literally performs acts of gross corruption, negligance and arrogance daily but everyone's busy laughing at this retard saying "drink bleach".

Meanwhile our government is giving billionaire owners of rightwing media companies illegal tax breaks worth millions (which would be paid to one of the poorest local authorities in the country and used to fund their struggling social services etc) in exchange for a small donation of £12K and the usual media coverage.

The enemy of the UK is the right wing media.

>plane load of spec ops cops

Your words, not mine. Nothing I've said has been untrue, I don't know what your argument is here. That it's not "common" (another quantitatively-oriented word lacking actual quantification or criteria for judgement) for police to be trained by Israeli forces? What's "common" exactly? It's known that US police have received training from Israeli forces that occupy Palestinian land and get away with murder, just like our cops get away with murder. Why is it all of a sudden verboten to recognize these raw facts? Why are you so protective of Die Israelische Neue Grossestatt?

It's public collaboration between oppressive forces, not a conspiracy.

Reminder that the Israel lobby has so much power over British politics that they got the Labour party to lose on purpose just to stop Corbyn.

Not even like "omg they're so dumb are they trying to lose on purpose" kind of hyperbole. No, literally, actually taking-a-dive-for-money losing on purpose.

>A leaked internal report shows that the UK Labour Party’s bureaucrats conspired to undermine their own leader Jeremy Corbyn from the start, even sabotaging the 2017 general election campaign.

>It also reveals how Labour’s left-wing leaders came to embrace the right’s witch hunt against members over the manufactured anti-Semitism crisis.

>Keir Starmer, Labour’s new right-wing leader, on Tuesday announced an investigation into who leaked the document.

>“The content and the release of the report into the public domain raise a number of matters of serious concern,” he said.

>From the moment Corbyn first won the leadership in 2015, the report shows, left-wing members were obsessively demonized as “Trots” – slang for a faction of communists. Many were expelled or suspended on flimsy pretexts – including false accusations of anti-Semitism.

>One senior Labour Press officer privately described Corbyn as “that fucking Trot” and said that some MPs who nominated him for leader deserved “to be taken out and shot.”

>A Labour staffer described the atmosphere at headquarters: “everyone else is much more right-wing” and considers anyone to the left of former Prime Minister Gordon Brown “to be a Trot.”

>The internal sabotage of Corbyn included budgeting $280,000 for a “secret key seats” project allegedly intended to “funnel additional resources into seats of key figures on the right of the party.”

>The leak shows that one senior Labour staffer was furious at voters: “The people have spoken. Bastards.”

>The leaked internal report concludes there was “no evidence” Labour staff have been motivated by anti-Semitism, or that complaints about anti-Semitism were treated differently from others.

>But it also reveals the extent to which Corbyn and his supporter, party general secretary Jennie Formby, conceded ground to the Israel lobby and the false narrative of rampant Labour anti-Semitism.

>The Israel lobby declared victory, with one group claiming to have “slaughtered” Corbyn.

Step 1: sabotoge your own party and intentionally lose an election
Step 2: blame the voters for allowing you intentionally lose the election
Step 3: military-industrial complex profit
