Here’s another kind of “pie”. Beef mince with onions, carrots and peas and some bbq and worcestshire sauce and seasoning for the “filling” then instead of topping it with mashed potato, I cut the potatoes into chips and baked them first, so it’s topped with that.

>>164050
Not hand made raviolis. It’s been so long since I had caramel corn that I can’t really compare it, but I can’t see it being worse. Cottage pie is supposedly just Shepard’s pie but with lamb, but I used chicken instead. I didn’t use pastry though. But yeah, that least meal might’ve actually tasted the best as well, it’s definitely something I want to try again.

>>164051
I don’t think it’s mashed potato, it seems more like potato slice or slices, though I haven’t exactly tried to decipher one from taste.

I'm on a budget and on a diet. I like to fry frozen veggies with a little bit of garlic and whatever preserves I can get my hands on. Preferably there is carrots but tonight there is not. This month there is artichoke, but it is usually pickle. There will be onion, as soon as I can afford new cutting board. Currently I have to chop onion at neighbor's house and store in fridge and he is gone this week.

Are you and your neighbour close? Because that seems like a weird thing to do for both people involved. Not to mention a convoluted solution for not having a cutting board, just use some cardboard or something.

Mild? Nah. Strong, aged white cheddar is v dank with chorizo. Or if you want to pair some Spanish, some manchego works even better.

Feta? FETA? FEEEEETAAAA!?!?!

Yeah pass on the feta. Feta is a very particular cheese. It dominates flavor wise, very few things compliment it, you'd almost want to build the meal around feta. Savory tarts and salads, that's more fetas thing. Not to say it can't go on pasta... but.. not like this.

They look good for giving it a go with no experience. Tortillas are the best carbs. Did you use flour or maize? If you really about your cheap vegan mexican taco stuffers, stir fry raw onions and bell peppers with refried pinto beans. You can buy canned refried pinto beans and give em another light frying to get em loose and warm, obvs most delicious is to cook the beans and mash em yourself but its a lot of work.

I would if I had an oven. : (

Also it's legal to put cabbage salad in a taco. Normally I would add citrus to julienned cabbage and carrots but since I don't have citrus the saurkraut gives a nice acidity. It also tastes kind of like creme fraiche.

>>164109

There's an exception to that rule, and its for flautas with sour crème on top, and it also depends on the taco, and it needs to be raw cabbage. Your shit looks like its been steamed and it has no business having cooked soggy cabbage on a taco. Like, what the hell mang. lol

Pasta with meatballs. Instead of cooking the pasta with the meatballs, I tossed it with olive oil, Parmesan and parsley, then topped with the meatballs.

>>164159
Yeah I’m not too experienced with pork so id rather it be overdone than undercooked. That is a good idea though, I’ll try it next time. Most of my “marinades” are just olive oil, salt, pepper and maybe garlic and some spices.

Undercooking pork isn't as big of a deal as people make it out to be. If you're cooking tenderloin it's usually better to leave it as a whole muscle and then cut it after. I do mine in the oven, cook until it hits 135-140F at the thickest part and then pull it out and let it rest. Sometimes I stick it under the broiler for a few minutes to get some color on the outside.

Tried a Mega Box from Red Rooster. It had a triple cheeseburger (though I think it’s just the 3 kinds of cheese when it says “triple cheese” burger), two buttermilk wings, some gravy and a regular chips. I only went regular because I saw they have fried chicken now and I wanted to see how it is, so I got 2 pieces of that on the side. Then I had half a Mississippi cheesecake and a slice of marble cheesecake. I do prefer marble cheesecake, but they don’t keep whole cakes of that out the back to slice up, so I can only get a slice of that and then just half a Mississippi one instead.

>>164166
I’ll have to try that then. I cut it thinner because I was pan frying, but using the oven might be better if I’m keeping it connected.

thats an odd amount of cooked ingredients for a potato salad, and it looks pretty offputting, ngl

also
>sauteed pickled celery
why cook something twice? in seriousness frying something pickled makes no sense.

anyway hows about just get a vegan mayo, theyre everywhere. looks like you overboiled the potatoes to fuck - cook them less, vegan mayo, scallions, maybe some fermented soy beans, olive oil, maldon salt, cilantro, black vinegar, shaved fennel, raddishes

i dunno, some combination of those things. the only thing in a potato salad thats cooked should really, in my experience, be the potatoes. think fresh, tangy, crunchy

put dill in it too

It's called a mirepoix and it's delicious. Also the potatoes aren't overcooked. I don't like mayonaise so to compensate I mashed half of the potatoes and mixed them together. Mayonaise is like 90% vegetable oil. Even the vegan ones. It's so bad for you.

Guillaume Tirel - Thu, 12 Aug 2021 06:30:56 EST lbuBkdJY No.164223 Reply
>>164222
mirepoix is for soups, sauces and stews, the potatoes are entirely broken apart, chalky and saturated = overcooked, vegetable oil is a fat, like any fat it is only bad for you in excessive amounts. i could understand wanting to defer to a better standard of vegetable oil i.e rapeseed, good olive oil, canola oil.

I cant stress enough how, especially for a vegan, vegetable fats are in fact essential to a healthy body. Maybe youre thinking of hydrogenated fats which has given a slightly bad name to oils

if you simply dont like mayo, maybe its crazy but ive found this avocado dressing to be really versatile, creamy and wonderful. though i usually use it as a salad dressing

2 avos
about 3 inches of cucumber
few glugs of olive oil
a squeeze of lime juice
salt to taste

whizz it all up in a blender.

>The texture of the mushrooms is surprisingly good but they're a little bitter.

Quickly boil them for a minute, then ice bath till they are cooled down, shake off the water in a colander then dry them with some paper towels. It sounds arduous but it'll take you all of 5 minutes if even.

That should get rid of the bitterness and "shock" them (for want of a better word) into a more chickeny texture for which Lion's mane is known for.

Then follow whatever you were doing previously, because they look good.

That said, I would suggest using a panko breadcrumb with some parmesan (or cheaper equivalent because parmesan is fucking expensive) mix for a light crispy tempura style coating.

I've got a whole bunch of spare frames from a workshop I organised a couple years back so I put up random stuff to fill them up around the house.

>>164325
What exactly is it? From the picture I've seen, it's 20 nuggets, 4 large chips, 4 quarter pounders and 4 large drinks right? Well last night I was drunk so I ate 2 large chips, a double quarter pounder and 20 nuggets and was fine. I'm pretty sure what I was eating in the old KFC Family Burger box was more, because I'd have 2 large chips (twice the size of McDonalds chips), 4 burgers (but I would get stackers which are bigger than double quarter pounders) then popcorn chicken and 6 nuggets. Honestly the hardest part about that challenge if that's all it is, is me trying to keep down the soft drink since I don't like it.

>>164326
Why am I from /pol/? I'm not sure what race war I'm supposed to be a part of considering I'm a Pacific Islander and most other races just ignore us unless it's rugby anyway. Take your anti-psychotics.

It's Four Cokes, 2 large fries, two 10 piece McNuggets, and four double cheeseburgers all in 90 minutes. You pretty much have to not eat anything for like 12 hours before that. I'd go nuggets first then alternate between fries and burgers but the hardest part would be washing it all down with those four drinks especially with the carbonation.

My last meal was a medley of fruit: one plum, and a large handful each of blueberries and strawberries, then followed by a pack of Ramen noodles that was cooked with olive oil, two servings of broccoli, two eggs and a four ounce salmon steak. Ramen seasoning packet, ground dill, garlic powder, ginger powder and cumin added for taste.

That's a pretty average meal for me except that I haven't actually been using Ramen very often lately. Instead of Ramen, I usually have 1-2 more kinds of vegetables and might add quinoa and chia seeds. When I can find it, I usually put 2-3 servings of alfalfa sprouts on top of each meal. Love me some muffu'in alfalfa, yo gnomesayin'?

As Mexican I ask you to please never do that again. Your understanding of a nice cabbage slaw dressed with something citrus isn't too far odd base, but acetic acid and lactic acid NEVER replace or substitute for citric acid. If you're gonna use corn like that grill it or even sauteed it on HIGH(like wok hei) heat then introduce some fresh chilies and onion. Crema is the only way lactic acid should meet your Mexican street foods fucker. You don't need to soak the beans though it helps and you don't have to under season your water, these are wives tales.

Also, all you buttholes using sour cream buy or make some crema you lazy bastarditos. Mexican cuisine needs chilies, cilantro, and high heat on the cooked proteins, think comal culture.

Studies have shown people consume fewer calories when they eat at home. I sually cook vegtables on my new grill and it tastes well. Most people can't do a basic french omelette correctly or good scrambled eggs. They always over cook them or add a bunch of milk and it comes out a soggy gross mess or dry and sulferous with a dark tinge from adding the pepper at the wrong time. Here I used crema instead of creme fresh to keep them moist not wet and cooked them on and off the heat. Also, only a novice or pleb would talk down on good aged asiago. Stuff was the bomb dot com.

>Starts with my local markets fresh-made everything bagel, lightly toasted on bagel setting
>next is the boars head pineapple turkey
>and I top it off with some hickory smoked gruyere cheese
>lastly I warm it all up in the air fryer/toaster oven, never microwave

Its so fucking tasty and simple I love eating it in the morning

Here's my go-to breakfast sandwich setup.

>Split bagel in toaster
>Throw two bacon strips in a ramekin, microwave for 90 seconds
>Pat down ramekin to remove excess fat, tear bacon in to little bits, add in a couple eggs and scramble.
>Microwave for another 30 seconds
>Throw some cheese on top of the egg/bacon and let it slowly melt as the bagel finishes toasting
>Dump the ramekin contents into the toasted bagel halves and assemble

It's a super delicious hot breakfast ready in a few minutes that you can eat while on the way to work.

No big deal. Microwave foods can be perfect. Here is a trick for microwave
eggs. Take an egg or two and toss in basic basic coffee mug. Use margarine on sides before or it will fail. Take fork and kinda stir or whatever add small amount of water, and black pepper. Microwave for like 25 seconds. Take fork and balance it out. One can screw up eggs on stove top easy enough so microwave food is no issue.
Bacon is fine as well

I just ordered the house special ramen(pic related) and a drink called Oaxacan hipster lol I'm pretty excited, I've been wanting to eat here for months and I randomly got a 25$ gift card for the place from my roommate before I left the house!! Thank the ECCO for keeping me breaded and smoked out all these years:3
even if I have sacrificed part of my sanity for the pleasure hehe
