So I've recently gotten into crystal science and since this neighborhood has become increasingly unsafe I decided to get a gun from an acquaintance. Now my biggest problem is what kind of crystals would give me an edge if I need to defend myself, care to give me some advice?
Does certain crystals resonate better with certain types of guns or rifles or does it have more to do with aligning their energies to a certain manufacturer?

I've been considering purchasing a rifle for a while now, for recreational shooting and home defense. I served in the military so I know my way around a firearm, although I'm not a gunsmith tier expert or anything. I want something cheap, but functional and chambered in a larger round like 7.62. Any tips or advice you have about purchasing a weapon or finding a good range would be appreciated.

Good advice, thank you.
How do I go about selecting the right ammo?
Is the right size round the right size round or what?
Suppose one wanted to buy a cheap AK as in investment like you're both describing. What advice would you offer someone interested in doing that?
I'm pulling for Sanders, among other reasons because he's pretty moderate on guns, but I'll save it for /pol/
>"big stronk rooskie use 7.62! I must use 7.62! I SKRONK I BREAK ENEMY!!!"
Pretty much this.
I want a big boy round to shatter cinder blocks, watermelons and the chest cavities of burglars. Maybe it's impractical and I should settle for 5.56. Afterall I mainly want a rifle to dick around at the range with.

For The 7.62x39 it is incredibly easy. Just buy the cheapest shit you can. All the steel case is good enough except for maybe Herters. Never buy any ammo made in Pakistan or India. Chinks make good ammo but it is hard to get. Yugo Yellow Tip is some of the most hardcore 7.62x39 made but it is rare as fuck and I don't know the designation for it. AP, AP-i or explosive is all pretty much impossible to find of course. Tula and Brown/Silver Bear is about the best price/performance. Silver Bear is what I would say is about the best steel cased for a reasonable price. Tula is really hit or miss but I've never had a dude round or a round that fucked up. Sometimes you buy Tula and get HP. Sometimes you get silver cases. I've actually gotten silver bullets. Likely Tin plated or even more likely Zinc bullets. It is like an easter egg. You know it is candy but you don't know what kind! I think some early "Red Army Standard" was corrosive. Be wary of corrosive foreign milsurp as always. ____ Bear and Tula are never corrosive.

For .223 it is really just depending on what you want to do. I just use 90% Tula and 10% reloads. Technically, for ammo you want to match grains and twists but I never give a shit about it because 1:7, 1:8 and 1:9 will shoot 55 up to 77 fine enough. 1:12 is nonexistant now so don't even worry about it. Technically, 45-62 is ideal for 1:9. 1:8 is suppose to be good for everything but is less common. 1:7 is operator tacticool because it can "do 62-80." In reality, you won't know any difference as long as you stick around 55-77 which is like all fucking ammo save for weird ass shit that is like 90 cents a round. Steel case is fine just don't shoot steel case then shoot brass case without cleaning. Shooting brass then shooting steel is fine. Brass expands to chamber very tightly. Steel doesn't. Shit gets in the chamber with steel cases and then when you shoot brass that shit sticks up on the case and the extractor slips over the rim or rips the rim off. Those O-ring extractor mods that increase extractor pressure can rip the rim off. Which is a bitch to get out because you need a rod+tree/hammer instead of a screwdriver. Technically steel is harder on the extractor but I think that is bullshit because 1. Extractors will fail eventually. 2. Extractors are much harder than the steel in cases. The case itself has nothing to do with the breaking of the extractor. The extractor is hardened steel which means it is more brittle. Steel cases come out easier in every scenario due to their lower expansion which means that they are actually easier on the extractor but internet myth from tards that don't know metallurgy will claim otherwise. Honestly just shoot whatever the fuck you want out of your AR. 77gr is good for longer ranges. 55-62 is great for everything else.

>Best AK for speculation/price gouging.

The cheapest hunk of shit you can find. That way you save money so you can slap on tons of UTG plasticrap to sell to idiots on armslist. An out of line Century or IO with black everything and a bi-pod, scope, 45 degree red dot, forward grip and folding stock will sell for 1500 dollars during a panic buying frenzy. I've literally seen a box (100) of P-Mags sell for 6k dollars during Sandy Hook. There was a guy walking around a gun show every ten feet with a garage built PSA AR+bi-pod, scope and forward grip for 2k dollars. If there are idiots freaking out buying shit aka Speculating, then just deliver whatever is scary or illegal looking.

>The last bit.

Well, I'm not you but 5.56 is the same price as 7.62x39 for steel case or close enough. 5.56 doesn't shoot like a rainbow and is generally found in more accurate weapons. 7.62x39 guns typically suck after 300 yards. 5.56 sucks after 450ish. Which honestly, just use .308 at that point but whatever. 5.56 defensive ammo will probably fuck someone up faster than whatever 7.62x39 you can get. Either rounds will ruin someones day easily so it really doesn't matter. 5.56 will explode shit "better." 7.62x39 pokes more of holes into stuff and keeps going. 5.56 fragments due to velocity so it is usually more entertaining I guess. 7.62x39 honestly isn't that fun to shoot because of the recoil and the guns that use it generally suck to use. At least it isn't to me. Some people enjoy the rifle bouncing around like a pair of tits but I prefer to have a .50 BMG feel like .22. Different strokes. I'd recommend going to a range somewhere and just waiting until someone shows up with an AK or AR and just asking to shoot a few rounds out of each.

From my likes and viewpoint, the AR is miles upon miles more refined than an AK. Both work pretty much the same but when you boil it down to the smaller differences, the AR pulls far ahead. There is honestly so little difference between the two that the tiny factors are what really matter.

Since we are a drug board, I suppose I could ask this here. What's the best drug for range shooting marksmanship? I need something to help me unload an entire Ruger American 5-clip within 10 seconds as accurately as possible. I'm thinking a beta-blocker. I'm also shit at finding drugs so how about ritalin? That might fuck me up too much. Would it be better to take lorazepam 5 hours before hand to help me calm down?

What does the /nra/ think?

Well, it's a scientific fact that psilocin enhances visual acuity through increasing "Edge detection". This is the ability to distinguish the edges of different objects, which requires, as well as depth perception, the ability of your brain to translate different types of light shading and reflection into information about distance and object placement. Seeing edges of objects in low-light conditions and at greater distances allows you to, for example, discriminate a bird from the ground behind it and the bushes surrounding it.

There is some anthropological evidence in the historical record that suggest that ancient hunters took part in ritualized consumption of small doses of psilocybin mushrooms before going on a hunt. There is also some evidence that other predatory mammals incorporated psilocybin mushrooms into their diet because they found the effects helpful in detecting and tracking prey animals.

There are a lot of articles on the internet and books irl about this topic, but here's an article I found in five seconds on google.

I'd say that a good mushroom dose gives me about 10x magnification beyond what I'd have if I were completely sober for a week. About 2-3x vs my usual day. The closer the object, the greater the effect though. Fucking weird looking at the little scales on my hair, and then comparing it to the white hairs in my beard that are unusually thick.

The caveat for me being that shrooms fuck my motor skills like I'm drunk, but I'm not so stupid that I'm not aware of it like I would be if I were drunk.

For me, it would be cannabis as I tend to panic and overreact. I feel like I can calm myself down and force myself to do what is necessary to make my shots count. Cannabis also doesn't have an effect on my motor skills. Cannabis in general, for me doesn't make me lazy or stupid; I consider it a good workhorse drug for mental stuff. I sneak it at work when I need to get a big job done and need to concentrate; it's like adult ritalin.
Physically, I think it's a bad idea to smoke weed and perform manual labor. So in an actual combat situation where running and patrolling were an issue, I might not smoke. If this were ana, I would say weed for recovery good, weed for workout bad.

I know its possible to build a gun from parts however I have no idea where to start, Im pretty good with my hands and I am an industrial design student. I have an idea to design a magnetically accelerated anti-material rifle however that is way down the road.

Im pretty much looking to assemble something like a Baretta M9 or a Glock 45 for starters as a hobby gun to take to the range. Or even a bolt action long gun for hunting. Its really just a project for me.

KSG is a shit design from a shit company. Waste of money. Don't be wooed. All those hyper capacity space shotguns are terrible. Good luck getting it to even cycle. Let alone all the deign flaws.

Taurus is a meh company and the Judge is a gimmick.

I've had a lot of experience with the Judge/Bull/Raging whatever.

First off, I hate these fucking things because they are ricochet fucking bee sting fucking fucks. I've never shot a Judge or variant without being hit with ricochets. Unless you are shooting it straight into the air, you are going to be hit with something. Birdshot always comes right back at you but typically doesn't do much. The spread is so hilariously huge it is impossible to do anything with it. You literally can't shoot clay pidgeons hand thrown because there isn't enough shot coming out of .410, there isn't enough speed build up and the barrel is far to shoot. Rifling also slings shot loads all over the place. Birdshot is thus completely useless. I wouldn't even shoot a snake at close range either with birdshot. Unless I wanted to be bit. I'm not being biased here, it is THAT bad. Buckshot is even worse. There are so few pellets that hitting anything is impossible. They don't build enough speed to be effective either. Same with birdshot. They don't have enough speed to embed into a backstop either. They always come back, typically in the shins. Although they are big enough and have enough speed to hurt about like a paintball. Seriously dangerous though. I'm surprised ranges allow Judges at all. Especially indoor ranges. A 25 yard range will have buckshot in the floor and ceiling if you are shooting a judge. I'm literally not joking or exaggerating. I've never tried .410 slugs. Seems a bit redundant. Worse lethality and accuracy than regular .45 whatever.

You talk about the PDX rounds. They are the absolute worse. The small shot doesn't do anything. Period, It may tear through 3 layers of cardboard but that would be it. Completely series. The 3 discs are the most ricochet prone. I've taken one to the top of my foot. Not fucking fun. They are also less accurate than buckshot. Discs launches flat faced into the wind don't fly well. Who would have though? They don't properly lock up with the rifling either. So basically it is like shoving a handful of saucers and tiny balls with your hand in a general direction called forward. Shitty scam ammo.

Second, the cylinder is so long, the fact that it is a snub nose barrel is negated completely. It is the size of a full sized revolver with the accuracy of a derringer. They are also pretty heavy due to the fist sized cylinder. 45 LC can't build up enough velocity in the barrel to be effective either. It may be fun for a few trips but it isn't really worth the price.

Taurus is also pretty shitty as far as fit and finish. Most Judges I have used, the regular ones; have a hard time indexing at least 1 cylinder. 25% of the ones with issues will nearly lock up when shooting when trying to index a new cylinder. I've yet to shoot any Taurus revolver that had perfect timing. All have either sheared on the forcing cone or had quite a bit of slop. Lots of blow-by as well. The only good thing about the Judge line is the grip they put on them. It really is pretty nice.

If you are going to waste your money on any of these I would get the Judge/Bull/Raging Boner that shoots .454/.45LC/.410. .454 Casull is expensive and it hurts pretty bad to shoot because of the muzzle flip breaking your traffic finger on the trigger guard but you know, if you want to be retarded, go full retard.

>Seriously, not trying to be a dick but both of these are gimmick shit guns. Even for fun, they are shit. You'll probably get kicked off a range if they know what Judges do or you will realize you don't like being hit in the dick with projectiles.

Yes! This is the kind of reply I wanted. I've already decided on the ksg. Reading reviews and people's experiences with them they seem very hit or miss. Seems like peoples biggest complaint is failure to feed when in fact it's more likely they are short shucking the damn thing. Like I said this will just be a gun to goof off at the range with. I've watched a few judge videos and you aren't lying, the birdshot spread from like 5m will cover a 3x3ft area it's insane.

that copy pasted from pa's set of laws which conviently are the first ones you get when you google how do i sell a gun privately. how ever
from a wiki articale

As of September 2015, 18 states and Washington D.C. have background check requirements beyond federal law. Eight states require universal background checks at the point of sale for all transfers, including purchases from unlicensed sellers. Maryland and Pennsylvania laws in this regard are limited to handguns. Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts and New Jersey require any firearm purchaser to obtain a permit. Four more states (Iowa, Michigan, Nebraska, and North Carolina) do the same, but only for handguns. Illinois requires background checks at gun shows. Nevada allows but does not require unlicensed sellers to do background checks on buyers. A majority of these jurisdictions require unlicensed sellers to keep records of firearm sales. The following table summarizes these state laws.[24]

Sup guys, so I got a shotty, Mossberg 590 Mariner, and I want to put sights on it.

It comes with a bead, so there's that.

So I want it to be an all purpose: bird hunting, deer hunting, and home def.

I figure home def. wont require sights since my apt isn't 50-75 yards long. So my biggest thing is deer vs bird.

I want sights so I can put down a deer, but I understand that you don't look down your sights for bird. I don't want to have to re-adjust my sights all the time for switching between deer and bird so I figure I should get sights for the deer, but the sights need to be slight enough that it wont distract me when I'm downing birds.

I heard alot of good for the GRS sights, but I'm concerned it will be too obnoxious for aiming at birds; so I was thinking of using a U notch with the bead on the end. But if the GRS won't interfere with my line of sight for birdies, then I'd rather go with that.

What u think ya'll?

You won't notice much difference between a ghost ring or the traditional notch and bead when it comes to shooting deer.

I don't know who told you that you don't aim with the sights when you're hunting birds but you either misunderstood or they shouldn't be giving shooting advice. You always aim down your barrel using your sights. I'm guessing they meant that you don't aim where the birds are when you pull the trigger, but just slightly ahead of them since they're in flight.

easy-peasy, join a shooters club, do a hunters exam, join the popo or military or "security" firm. done. Hell, my neighbouring villages have a quota of over 60% hunters license holders, just to be able to inherit grandparents guns ^_^

I don't have a camera right now. A "friend" stole the one I had, I'm in the process of getting a new one. Anyway, here's a shitty picture from my computer of my main defensive handgun, . There are more but I'm lazy and this camera sucks...

If you are Canadian or live in Canada, make sure to add your name to the petition. You can complain about how petitions don't matter but just fucking sign it anyway you pussy.

There's also a paper copy available at your local gun store or you could print it yourself and mail it in to the NFA.

RCMP can eat shit. This isn't a military junta. They don't have the power to enforce their will across the country, and if they come for the rifles a second time the risk of officers being shot to death is going to go up, not down. Most back woods guys will bury their guns, but a small number won't tolerate the intrusion.

We should get rid of the RCMP completely. If Alberta had invested the oil money properly then maybe they could have their own police force and not have to deal with an agency as corrupt as the RCMP.

Welcome to Canadian gun laws. Back when our current firearms act was being drafted, a bunch of busy bodies with no knowledge of firearms thumbed through an issue of Guns Digest magazine and circled all the 'scary' looking guns to be made prohibited. Yes this actually happened, it is not urban legend, this is the type of legislation we are dealing with.

That's why the FAL, G3 and Dragunov are prohibited, but the M14 is completely non-restricted. The Famas and Steyr Aug are prohibited, but we have the Tavor (since it came out after the laws were drafted). The AR15 and all variants are restricted by name, but the Mini-14 is non-restricted. Anything with a Kalashnikov action is prohibited, but we are awash in non-restricted $200 SKS's...

Then there's mag limits; 5rds for non restricted long guns, 10rds for pistols/restricted guns. But if you have a pistol mag that fits into a non restricted long gun you can use that in the long gun to legally have 10 rounds.... Oh and there is no magazine limits for .22's, unless it's a pistol, then it is still 10 rounds even though it's still the same .22.....

Don't forget shorting a shotgun's barrel gets you 15 years, but you can buy one at any length, unrestricted.
