It would probably also call for having two of its engines moved to the tail. Same alteration if you were repurposing the A380 the same way, since that beast has just gotten canned.

That would unbalance the airframe so much that it essentially would have to be redesigned from scratch.

Concorde 2: electric boogaloo. Yet another case study of billions of dollars of european tax money being misspent on another moronic european hubris project.

AR-15: kit or gun?

Pretty much title.

I want to get an AR-15 without spending too much, but I want as high quality as I can get. I want the most bang for my buck basically.

Never built a gun before, but I'm very handy and can follow instructions and read diagrams and all the stuff that comes with actually putting it together, but I'm still responsibly cautious about the craftsmanship of my final product.

Having said that, would I be better off spending the extra bit on a prefab gun made by a manufacturer, or do y'all think a first-timer can pull it off without issue?

Also, is a kit the way to go when trying to lower cost? What do y'all think?

Any recommendations for brands/retailers to buy would be greatly appreciated as well.

Yeah I know things are gonna get crazy but honestly, I don't think with Trump and Republican majority it will be like the insanity during 2012. I really hate the gun community ya know? I mean we are facing down an AWB, National Background checks, and worst of all Red Flag laws.

I mean sheeit nigga, Trump don't give a fuck about your rights and if he says AWB and a National Registry and Red Flags, him, his retarded ass fucking supporters and the GOP cunts will all jump on the bandwagon. I know dozens of people into guns that when Obama did it, they screamed bloody murder, fuckin no compromise ever. But now with Trump and the GOP, "Well you don't really need a whatever. We need to do something about this, that, and the other."

It won't be the same panic. The election will generate some scarcity but it won't be like before with Hillary I don't think. Or maybe it will I dunno. I don't think Trump will win because a recession is coming and I think it will hit before the elections. But then maybe that is good because of any left-wing democrat pushes for gun control it will be like a declaration of war like with Obama. I always said lots of gun control would be passed under Trump and it would just be a few mass shootings away. And look what is happening. Before he even got elected I knew Republican majorities always passed gun control. Nobody listened. It was a tough situation in 2016 though because of the SCOTUS picks and shit. You needed a republican to keep the gridlock but at the same time, it was fucking Trump of all people.

>If Trump gets reelected, I'm calling it now, a full scale AWB, mag bans, possibly mandatory buy-backs, national registry/background checks, red flag laws, and probably an NFA outright ban.

Hell, I'm willing to say 50/50 shot of ending up with mag bans, red flags, and background checks before 2020's election. Ole Moscow Mitch and the GOP are looking to save some face and gun control would be a quick 1-2 punch to get some left-wing favoritism. Maybe in their minds. Everyone will still hate the GOP, and rightfully so.

I got my list of shit to get before the ban and elections though.

P226 in .357 Sig
Mossberg MVP that takes AR mags
Mossberg 930 JM

Half of that shit wouldn't be affected by a ban but probably the next one will be the 930. Then the P226. I don't think I'll ever be able to find a reasonably priced AK-V before fucking 2030 lol. Maybe I'll just do a CZ Scorpion instead. The biggest issue it stocking up mags for all that shit. Mini-14 mags aren't cheap. Fucking P226 mags are pricey too. I also need to buy another 10 or 20 AR mags and some more Glock mags that are 32 rounders. And a threaded glock barrel. I feel like a bitch throwing away so much money but that FOMO shit is a bitch. Of course, there isn't much fear, it isn't a question of if, it is when and that is the name of the game. I guess I'll always be able to get more money from a job. Maybe not the case with guns and ammo. I want my collection good and taken care of before I get a big fat no from jolly ole Uncle Sam.
Walter Fullyhack - Mon, 19 Aug 2019 13:53:34 EST rHpVdMbL No.43964 Reply

>a full scale AWB, mag bans
So what. It'll be like last time where anybody with grandfathered inventory will make fucking bank, the laws do nothing, it causes another red wave in congress like the last AWB did in '96, then in 10 years political inaction lets it expire.

>mandatory buy-backs
lolno. There is no reality in America where this is ever a possibility. That shit would be all tied up in lawsuits for 100 years if they ever tried it.

>national registry

>background checks
We already have these

>red flag laws
These honestly aren't that bad of a concept tbh. I'm completely fine with the mom of some crazy violent fucktard autist to now have the legal ability to turn them into a de-facto restricted person.

>probably an NFA outright ban
Also unconstitutional. Plus the NFA is already a pseudo-backdoor ban, due to the artificially limited supply of tax stamps.
Beatrice Nunderdun - Tue, 20 Aug 2019 12:46:04 EST BbxmFCnF No.43965 Reply
The new AWB's will be permanent. It isn't the status quo to enact laws with expiration dates. That was a unique act.

Buy backs could be tied up in lawsuits but the supreme court is very difficult about hearing 2nd amendment cases. They can just choose not to hear something you know? Also, the law in place is the law until it is repealed. While a lawsuit on it may be in progress, it is still the law.

National registries are not unconstitutional and national background checks are a defacto registry.

We don't have national background checks yet.

Red flag laws are probably the most dangerous piece of legislation possible. It enables the government to say, "We heard you was dangerous fam; then a 4am kickdoor by the cops and you're murdered for being psychotic with firearms." No due process, no legal recourse, fucking nothing. Honestly, this is probably about the worst piece of legislation since the Patriot Act. All due process and legal jurisprudence is dead. You don't even have to have weapons, anyone could just say they want you investigated and then the cops have the legal right to murder you. I'm be quite honest, I'd much rather loose the 2nd amendment in entirety before red flag laws got put in place. At least then we would still have the 1st amendment which is the most important. The level of absurdity of giving the government this kind of power and both sides of the isle pushing for it is just utterly in-fucking-sane.

Red flag laws mean nothing anyways as you can just record someone saying something insane and getting them put on a 72 hour psych-hold anyways.

An outright NFA ban isn't unconstitutional according the the Supreme Court, the 2nd amendment may be regulated by the government, even stated by Scalia. While I agree any singular soldier operated armament shall be legal for the citizenry, that isn't how the courts see it. Tax stamps also aren't limited they're just slow as fuck but the ATF is moving a lot of it online and the NFA process is speeding up dramatically. Especially for non-suppressor, non-machine gun NFA items.

Possibly one of the worst things Trump has done is tell the ATF to reinterpret the law to classify bump-stocks as machine guns. The law says one thing and bump-stocks don't fit the law of a machine gun. Well Trump tells the ATF to reinterpret and then overnight without any act of congress or any checks and balances, boom you're a felon if you have one. The legal precedent for this is completely unfounded and extremely dangerous. Trump is a loose cannon who doesn't give a fuck about our democracy or system and will do whatever is cool and trendy at the time or whatever he thinks is at least. The ATF could now say that something else is banned because they're ruling on the spirit of the law rather than the text. Outside of SCOTUS possible friendly 2a nominations, Trump has been among the worst things to happen to gun rights in almost 2 decades on a national level.

Reading William Gibson's "Zero History".

A large plot point is the civilian market for tactical gear, he actually drops the terms "operators", "mall ninjas", and "gear queers", and one of the villains is a fashion designer with special forces pretensions, who acts like a spy in a movie, and is after a coveted military contract to design uniforms for the US.

The protagonists' employer, Hubertus Bigend, a sort of meme and trope savvy Lex Luthor type, mentions a sort of psychosis endemic to the special forces, that they're promised that their training will qualify them to do anything, and they end up believing it, so they become sort of self-hypnotised con artists who believe their own pitch, and you end up with unqualified, delusional ex-soldiers teaching anti-terrorist and interrogation techniques to third world police and militaries.

So, read anything topical lately?

I get what you mean. At various points I dropped 'Neuromancer'. Only recently did I read through it fully and even then it gets so vague I nearly drop it, but somehow, Gibson manages to throw in a single sentence or event that pricks my nipples and keeps me interested.
I'm usually used to figuring out stuff through subtext and lore. I love Philip K. Dick novels for example, but I can't say much in defense of Gibson, given that I only read two of his works: 'Neuromancer' and 'Pattern Recognition' (the first book in a trilogy before 'Spook Country' and 'Zero History', iirc).
I really liked 'Pattern Recog'. It was more thematically focused with its Baudrillard-esque themes (with clothing described as Japanese knockoffs of WWIII bomber jackets, but with intentionally dropped stitches so detailed they transcend being a 'simulation'). It's basically about a media-design/ mystic meme consultant following an ARG online.

Shit sorry for the triple post spam...my old iPad glitched out.

Tl;dr yes OP, you don't need any permits at all to buy a gun. I don't know off the top of my head if gun buyers have any sort of waiting period for non-CC permit holders (often in many states it's a 3 day wait for a handgun and no wait whatsoever for a rifle, at least in FL it was), but yeah you can buy anything you want. Not sure if it's possible to legally obtain a handgun inside Colorado <21 and therefore own a handgun if 18+ but over 21, since private sales are banned apart from bona fide loans or gifts between immediate family members/trustees.

Denver has a 10rd mag limit, and some place called Vail has a 20 round mag limit, and any mags purchased after 2013 are limited to 15 rounds.

For that reason (15rd mag limit even though that mag limit is rarely enforced and they can't prove the magazine wasn't purchased before or during 2013), if your first gun purchase is strictly for home and car self defense and you want a full size, higher caliber, high capacity, and more accurate handgun instead of a concealed carry gun (think police sized, instead of tiny 7 or 8 round .32/.380/9mm pocket pistols that fit in the front pocket of a pair of jeans), I'd highly suggest a police surplus used Smith and Wesson military & police .40 handgun. I suggest this because it's standard magazine capacity is 15 rounds, and it costs around $300, or about ~50-60% of the price of a new glock.

If you want a glock instead, or want a gun chambered in 9mm because it's slightly less recoil and usually a bit cheaper per bullet, get the "compact" aka medium size version of the glock series, which is the glock 19. It has a standard magazine capacity of 15, and if you want to technically break the law but in a way that they'll never be able to prove, you can physically go out of the state or have a friend illegally reship you 9mm glock magazines originally designed for the full size glock 17 that fit into the glock 19 just fine (holds 17 rounds instead of 15, which tbh two extra rounds is totally not worth the potential legal hassle). Personally all that legal hassle for 2 more bullets is asinine, BUT the biggest point is, instead of buying glock 17 magazines that aren't worth the hassle, you can go out of state and buy 33 round high capacity magazines originally built for the glock 18 I believe. Definitely make sure to pay in cash and leave no evidence they were purchased during or after 2013.

There are loads of good .380 and 9mm slim tiny single stack 7 or 8 round (6+1 or 7+1 in the chamber) out there. There's also some good 5, 6, and even 7 round revolvers too. If you want a cheap bolt action rifle, mosin nagants are okay if you manage to get one for under $120-150. Mossberg and Remmington both make excellent 12 or 20 gauge shotguns (I suggest 12 gauge). I'm biased towards Ruger in terms of fun good quality .22 rifles to plink cans with.

You'll probably find the best or nearly the best deal from an online site called bud's gun shop. The way it works is you pay the company for the firearm, they ship it to a local gun shop or anyone that has a FFL (federal firearms license) allowing them to legally sell guns and of course run FBI background checks. That process of buying online and doing the background check paperwork is called a "FFL transfer."

Do some online research on the cheapest FFL transfer costs in your region as long as the lowered price is worth the drive for you. FFL transfers in Ohio and Florida are $25-40, usually $30-35 per firearm IME.

Oh, and if you get a handgun, it looks like if you're in your car, you can "carry" it in your pocket or put it in the center console of your car loaded AND with a round chambered (always keep a chamber loaded handgun in a holster). If it's a rifle or shotgun in your car, it can have a loaded magazine inserted into the long gun, but the chamber must be empty.

Thats all specifically for Colorado. Also according to the peaceful journey law or whatever its called, you can bring your gun that's otherwise legal in Colorado but illegal in Denver (so called assault rifles or guns with a magazine greater than 10 rounds) through Denver city limits as long as you're genuinely traveling through the city to another destination where your gun is legal, as long as you only stop for gas and arguab…

Should i get one? Ive been high watching the zulu movies and videos on youtube of the martini henry and that shell ejecting looks so satisfying.

Beta blockers would be fine, all they're gonna really do is steady your hands. If you're nervous as fuck, you'll still be nervous, but your hands will remain steady and your heart rate will remain calm. Basically it'll lower/remove your physical anxiety response.

Propranolol (a beta blocker) is banned in olympic shooting for this reason. It makes your hands and fingers feel very steady. Was kinda freaky the first day I was on it, but I'm also a piano player so that was my first exposure to the precision-enhancing effects.

I was listening to NPR and it seems like the US commander in Afghanistan wants five
thousand more men on the ground. Thats not the problem for me.

NPR essentially said through the course of the conversation that after 40 years of continuous civil war nobody knows how to end the conflict. Currently the problem is that the Taliban is seeking savehaven in Pakistan and coming over the border to attack US forces and the Afghans.

Now in a perfect world we would cross the border and destroy the Taliban camps.
But this isn't a perfect world.

So I came up with an idea to surveil the border and allow US forces to react to incursions by the Taliban without having troops patrol the entire border. The system would use ELINT and then be used to dispatch US and Afghan forces to interdict the Taliban.

I know its a good idea and it's going to take time to develop it. But once I develop the idea to a point where it's ready to present to the appropriate people in the Department of Defense who do I talk to?

I'm posting it here because I can't monitor a thread of halfchan.
I'll also post it on r e d d i t.

Is there a firearms company more undeserving of praise then these fuckers?

>Astronomically priced guns even when almost every other competitor offers their guns with more modern features AND at a better price point
>Refuse or stopped importing their actually unique firearms
>Stock a pitiful (Or none at all) amount of spare parts
>Customer service that takes eons to get ahold of or anything fixed or back from them
>Newest products are just the same old shit with slightly adjusted aethstetics (Even if there were new products it's not like they would offer them to the civilian market anyways ERGO: all the new scart accessories.)

Seriously I have a FN gun that I consider my favorite but even I can see how fucking shitty they are, why do people in the industry always CONSTANTLY suck them off for literally every single thing they do, no other company gets as much praise as these fuckers.

It's easier to get companies to send you free guns for your youtube channel when you praise them.

People watch the youtube videos that are "reviewing" FN guns and speak on the internet with the certainty of an owner even if they've never touched a gun in their life.

Also, it sounds like a shorthand for fuckin'. That has to have something to do with it too.
